Open Letter to America from Australia

Dear America,

As one of your closest allies, we cherish our long term relationship. Long may it prevail. We have spilt blood together in the defence of democracy. Australia has always been the first country to sign up to support the US on the battlefield to protect freedom and liberty.

For a bit of perspective, we thought we’d subject what is going on over there to what Aussies call a “pub test.” It is a figure of speech which depicts bar patrons decide what passes as truth or fiction over a beer. After all, a drunk man speaks a sober man’s mind.

From the offset we want to declare we have absolutely no say in how any of you choose to vote. Nor do we want to have a say. Your future should be in your hands, not ours. Although we are struck by how many liberals from other nations demand you vote according to their wishes, not yours.

We hope that November 3rd can deliver a free and fair election where democracy is the only winner. We have our doubts here.

Sometimes a voice who has no say in the outcome can provide perspective. We have no skin in the game. We just hope to provide our view of things.

In Australia, we also suffer the daily musings of a left leaning mainstream media obsessed with clickbait over facts. Nothing as bad as what you have over there but the ideology behind it is the same. Steeped in identity politics and pushing woke causes.

Our journalists, like yours, believe that Twitter is an accurate representation of the majority. Nothing could be further from the truth. We often write that journalistic integrity will only return when the media loves Americans more than they hate Trump. Ours too. What used to be a profession that thrived on facts, now focuses on activism. How many obituaries of slain terrorists read like they were scholars and selfless philanthropists of the highest order?

Watching the VP debate this week, we heard Senator Kamala Harris make the absurd assertion that foreign leaders think more highly of Chinese President Xi Jinping than President Donald Trump. Really?

What many of you may have missed several months ago was that soon after our Prime Minister Scott Morrison proposed an independent investigation into China’s mishandling of COVID-19 outbreak, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) retaliated with tariffs and one senior bureaucrat even went as far as to say Australia waschewing gum stuck to China’s shoe.

Aussies are stoic. To us that was a spit in the face. That annoyed us. We are sure it would rile Americans too. We maybe a small nation but we aren’t a bunch of pushovers.

Unfortunately, up to that date, our political class had long kowtowed to China because of the relatively huge size of the trading relationship with Australia. Expediency was put ahead of principle.

Since coronavirus, many Aussies, including our law makers, have come around to the same philosophy of Trump. All bets are off when it comes to China now. We’ve had enough. We don’t trust the CCP. No one wants to be insulted without reason.

Look, we understand President Trump has an unorthodox style to say the least. He can be petulant at times. He is prone to exaggeration and has a glass jaw. But he gets things done which is ultimately the main aim of his role, no?

Trump must be the only politician in living memory to be condemned for actually keeping his promises.

You don’t have to like Trump. After all who looks to their politicians for moral or spiritual guidance? Yet he is mercilessly attacked every single day by the media which often finds itself peddling false narratives. It seldom apologizes but surely American citizens must be growing tired of story after story about how the orange man is bad.

To us he is a breath of fresh air. No massaged or nuanced comments. Full blunt force. He doesn’t care who he offends. He only looks forward. We totally get that he ruffles feathers. Yet after decades of failed administrations, isn’t he a monster of their own creation? Didn’t they give birth to him? Had they executed on behalf of the American people, Donald Trump would never seen the light of day in the Oval Office.

We post a legitimate question. Can you honestly say that the Left side of politics in America has made a sound argument to the voting public as to why it considers itself the sensible, credible and morally superior alternative via its actions?

The Russia hoax – which now looks like a hit job which goes all the way to the top of the Obama administration – has revealed the sinister side of the establishment.

If this were Australia, no matter which party affiliation one supported, few if any would blindly accept such blatant collusion courtesy of taxpayer funded agencies seeking to pervert the course of democracy. We would demand those responsible be brought to justice and punish the party that indulged in the duplicitous behaviour.

You can be absolutely sure if Biden prevails, #Obamagate will be dead and buried forever. That is the sincere hope for the guilty parties. Who doesn’t delete their phone records by entering their password incorrectly? Who doesn’t take out indemnity insurance if they are following the letter of the law? Is it any wonder Obama is campaigning so hard for a man he took forever to endorse?!

Let’s not forget that Barack Obama even took to using John Lewis’ funeral as an opportunity to make a campaign speech during his eulogy. Crass. Michelle Obama has hardly graced herself talking about her “low grade depression” from her $15m Martha’s Vineyard mansion.

Even if you hate Trump, having him serve four more years to bring corrupt officials in public agencies to heel is the cheapest insurance policy Americans can pay. Failure to do so will mean that you openly authorize federal agencies to defraud you at will to remain in power. Jim Comey and friends never thought they needed to worry about their actions until Hillary Clinton lost 2016. His recent testimony was unbelievable.

We watched the Kavanaugh Senate confirmation circus in disgust. An accomplished man was besmirched in much the same fashion of Clarence Thomas in the 1990s. It was a farce.

The impeachment clown show led by Nancy Pelosi, who grinned her way through the ‘sombre occasion’, was a national embarrassment. Member of Congress, Rep Rashida Tlaib, promised to “impeach the mother f*cker!” What a disgrace to the office. She smiled on her way to cast her vote as if it was some sort of big joke. Recall the embarrassing moment where Adam Schiff chased after Jerry Nadler who stormed the podium to make his own closing remarks. Officials behaving like unruly teenagers.

Perhaps the biggest revelation to come from COVID-19 is not so much the virus but the overt display of power drunk Democrat mayors and governors. They have been borderline despotic and utterly hypocritical. These politicians live by the creed “rules for thee, but not for me!

Most recently, Nancy Pelosi got caught unmasked in a hair salon. Instead of accepting the double standard, she claimed she was set up and sought to legally ruin the business. True colours. Pelosi also showed how out of touch she is by revealing her $20,000 freezer full of boutique ice cream during lockdown when her district is in such squalor.

Who could forget Oregon Gov Kate Brown ordering child protective services on a hair salon owner who wanted to feed her family? What was the connection?

Or LA Mayor Eric Garcetti threatening to cut off the utilities of businesses defying lockdown. How pleased we were to see Californians let off July 4th fireworks in defiance of the order not to.

Or Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan calling CHAZ a “summer of love” until it affected her personally. How we laughed at these protestors demanding supplies from the functional democracy they sought to overthrow.

Perhaps the most disgraceful episode of COVID-19 was the vile reaction from the left wishing death on Trump. Argue all you want about his handling of the pandemic but the Left’s derangement and unsuitability has been on full display. Do people that wish death on others show all the hallmark qualities of leaders capable of uniting a nation?

Never mind the actions of NY Governor Cuomo stuffing nursing homes with infected patients or then NYC Health Commissioner Oxiris Barbot cheerleading identity politics and encouraging people to reject Trump’s xenophobia instead of falling back on her own medical expertise. Orange man bad.

Then came the BLM protests.

The George Floyd incident united a nation. The majority of the public were well on side in fighting for justice and equality right up to the point where they ended up being attacked by the mob in restaurants, neighbourhoods, cars or even protecting their homes.

Peaceful protests gave way to looting, arson, carjackings, assault, shootings and violence. Statues were pulled down. Public and private property destroyed and defaced. Were Nancy Pelosi’s “people will do what they do” comments acceptable? Was talking 100 days after the violence started to condemn it when the polls started to swing sincere? Of course not.

How we felt sorry for struggling businesses under the jackboot of draconian lockdowns having to suffer a further kick to the guts, despite being innocent bystanders. The damage will be lasting. Sure BLM leaders might scream that insurance will pay for the looting now but they overlook the reality that premium hikes will all but guarantee they can’t reopen.

Cities that have been run by Democrats for half a century or more ordered their police to stand down. Is it any wonder that wrapping law enforcement in red tape has dire consequences? The fools sitting on the Minneapolis City Council gave us front row seats to witness how crime flourishes when liberal policies are applied. Who knew they’d be forced to reexamine their own self-inflicted wound?

Then liberals want to tell you that Senator Kamala Harris is a credible candidate. She openly sponsored and supported the MFF which has bailed out felons charged with rape, battery and sexually assaulting an 8-yo child. She even praised career felon Jacob Blake and his family, including his anti-Semitic father. That’s right, criminals are now the innocent victims in the minds of Democrats. It is your fault they stole your wallet.

Even worse this has led to a string of activist DAs across America who want to prosecute innocent parties before evidence is even heard. Think of the sinister behaviour of Fulton County DA Paul Howard who is covering up his own unethical behavior by framing cops who acted in the scope of the law he outlined during the arrest of Rayshard Brooks. Never mind that he was drunk, resisting arrest and fired a taser at the police because he knew he was going straight back to prison. No wonder the police unions are supporting Trump.

Think of Jake Gardner who was acquitted of murder in an act of self defence. Soon after an activist DA folded to mob pressure and prosecuted him with manslaughter, Gardner committed suicide.

Then the public was subjected to woke displays by the sporting codes. The NFL, NBA, MLB and others all joined in ramming politics down the throats of fans who had just paid hard earned money to distract themselves from the grind of life. How surprising that the NBA has just realised that lecturing fans is a bad idea and will remove overt displays in the locker room?

Oh to be lectured by Colin Kapernick who openly celebrated July 4th under Obama but lambasted it as a glorification of white supremacy this year. And Disney is going to give this serial victim a contract to produce a docuseries. Don’t even get us started o the hypocrisy of Alyssa Milano.

We don’t pretend that racism doesn’t exist. However when people like Jussie Smollett, Jonathan Lopez and Sabrina Belcher stage hate crime hoaxes we feel that the fight for equality is closer than it has been for decades of people are forced to conjure it. Hate crimes are a fraction of what they were 30 years ago.

Just look at Congresswoman Ilhan Omar who has pledged to dismantle the system. You know, the very system that rescued her from a Kenyan refugee camp and delivered her to the highest levels of government office. Hardly held back by systemic racism, wouldn’t you say?

When Joe Biden says “#YouAintBlack“, “poor kids are just as smart as white kids“, described blacks as “superpredators” in the 1994 crime bill, told Hispanics that their community is far more diverse than blacks or letting you know he is surviving lockdown because a black woman is restacking the grocery shelves, who is the racist? Trump has denounced white supremacy countless times. Listen for yourself.

We could go on and on with countless more examples including Nancy Pelosi’s recent wish to invoke the 25th Amendment. These people will stop at absolutely nothing to gain power. They care not one jot for you. Don’t forget that Nancy Pelosi felt so deeply for the loss of George Floyd that she called him George Kirby. Senator Chuck Schumer got it wrong too and guess what, YouTube has removed the video!

Yet another issue where Trump is 100% correct. Do you want some biased tech giant in control of what it deems you can consume? If these open platforms are taking on editorial decisions on what you are allowed to see, they should lose sanctuary status from prosecution. Surely you should have 100% control of what you view, read or hear without some apparatchik arbitrarily deciding for you.

As the debates have revealed, Joe Biden is a Trojan horse for a radically left agenda.

Your taxes will be raised, the Supreme Court will be packed and the GND is a formality. The Obamagate investigation will be buried and you can be assured the Democrats will embark on a 4-yr revenge fest based on their own.

We aren’t saying Trump is perfect. Far from it. Yet he hasn’t started a war, he’s got NATO to reach into their wallets, signed historic peace deals people like John Kerry said would never happen. He achieved record low unemployment rates for blacks, Hispanics and women. He is about to get pharma prices slashed 90% and is the only candidate that will hold China to account.

This is your country at stake. Ultimately we think that ‘lived experience’ will prevail. We think that Americans want their livelihoods back. They want the streets to be safe. They want honest cops. But they want honest politicians even moreso. They want prosperity. They want to have pride. They don’t want to be made to feel guilty for crimes they didn’t commit to people that didn’t suffer.

Say what you like about Trump, but from 10,000 miles away, none of you should expect a NY property developer to be the cleanest shirt. However the last four years of Democrat derangement have shown they are absolutely unfit to lead. Double standards, hoaxes and scandals backed by a hysteric cheerleading mainstream media.

Like Aussies, we know deep down Americans are a parochial and patriotic bunch. You have so much to be proud of and the last thing you need is to be lectured to by power mad career politicians with so little to show for other than lining their own pockets.

Do you want to die standing on your feet, or live on your knees. Because that is what is on the ballot.

God Bless America.

Regards,

Who knew? More mail-in ballot malarkey

Detroit election officials have revealed that 72% of absentee ballot precincts recorded totals didn’t match the actual number of votes.

Wayne County, Michigan’s largest county, is calling for an official investigation.

Detroit also had problems with precinct count mismatches in the 2016 presidential election. Election officials couldn’t reconcile vote totals for 59% of precincts.

What could possibly go wrong on November 3rd?

The great USPS Mailbox robbery?

How strange that the supposed Mailbox Heist at the sinister hands of the Trump administration has been occurring since the 1980s.

In 2009, WaPo wrote of the mailbox conspiracy. It stated, “half of the blue boxes in the Washington area have disappeared in the last nine years, and 200,000 nationwide have been plucked up in the last 20 years, leaving 175,000 total.

There are currently 141,900 mailboxes according to the USPS. Note 14,000 were removed under the Obama/Biden administration.

In the last decade, mailed items fell from 171bn to 142.6bn (-17%).

First class mail volumes have fallen from 28.9bn in 2010 to 16.5bn in 2019. Down 43%.

Retail offices have shrunk from 36,222 in 2010 to 34,613 in 2019. Or down 4.5%.

Post offices now have to compete with a plethora of delivery services from Amazon, FedEx and UPS. Furthermore many businesses and agencies accept PDFs for many documents.

Why not let the USPS speak for itself?

Historically, mailboxes have been removed for lack of use and installed in growth areas…When a collection box consistently receives very small amounts of mail for months on end, it costs the Postal Service money in fuel and work hours for letter carriers to drive to the mailbox and collect the mail. Removing the box is simply good business sense in that respect. It is important to note that anyone with a residential or business mailbox can use it as a vehicle to send outgoing mail.

It is so easy to run conspiracy theories but one look at the data and another myth busted. But hey, who would run a voter suppression or voter ID narrative? We remind people of a video made by Ami Horowitz on the very subject. Who knew it was the dimple the opposite of the narrative?!?

Demuckracy in 2020

We have long thought the 2020 presidential election would be ugly. That is hardly a wild stab in the dark.

Democracy is the last thing on the minds of the political class. We’ve had a 7-month introduction to what is at stake. Despotic governors have been swift to arrest, charge and humiliate normally law-abiding hair salon and gym owners for feeding their families while allowing peaceful protests to go completely unpunished.

These are the same politicians who supported the police when it suited to beat up taxpayers until it was expedient not to do so. As cities burn and crime soars, they threw the police under the bus and blamed them for inciting peaceful protestors. Many activist judiciaries gladly let off violent felons with no more than a slap on the wrist.

Our thoughts have always been if the average US citizen wakes up every morning and sees a burnt out shell where a supermarket once stood, graffiti scrawled over historic buildings and plinths with nothing atop them, they don’t need a biased media to tell twist what they see with their own eyes.

How ironic that the cities most affected are run by Democrats which have held power in many cases for over half a century. This is a first hand lived experience situation for most residents in a crisis. Utter failure, excuse making and politicians doing the exact opposite of what they wish for. More police, lower crime and law & order. Instead, city mayors virtue signaled as cities burnt. They took photo ops to paint Black Lives Matter on City streets even though the Marxist BLM movement lambasted them for pandering to white liberals.

Teachers’ unions have gone on strike demanding pretty much everything other than safe reopening to combat coronavirus.

The media is an ever willing accomplice. MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace has openly celebrated the prospect of a recession and spoke of a silver lining to coronavirus if it means Trump loses office.

What hypocrisy when the media cheered a White House reporter for questioning Trump about his lies this week. That coming from an industry that has never had lower ratings for trust.

Let’s not even start with social media giants and their bias – declaring themselves medical experts and deleting information they deem incorrect. No longer are they independent platforms for free expression but what they tell us is fit for consumption. Forget your rights. They think we’re too stupid to make such decisions.

Now voting rights are front and centre.

Never mind that a bipartisan commission agreed that mail-in ballots were the highest source of voter fraud. This year, in NY & NJ, between 20-25% of ballots were ruled invalid. Voter intimidation and fraud has been recorded. Several Democrats have been arrested and charged for engaging in the criminal activity.

Now the postal service (USPS) says it is not equipped to handle mail-in ballots safely.

Scroll back two years ago. We wrote of the number of Democrat controlled states which passed legislation to keep Trump’s name off the 2020 ballot if he failed to publicize his tax returns. Shouldn’t voters, not state legislators determine whether his taxes are an election issue?

As November 3rd looms, the mudslinging will make impeachment and the George Floyd riots feel like quiet nights in.

The public is at boiling point. The silent majority is growing fed up. They look at the available candidates and ponder is the best the Democrats have to offer? A presidential candidate losing control of his mental faculties teamed up with one of politics’ biggest hypocrites in Kamala Harris. An individual who gladly accused her running mate of believing his sexual assault accusers and racism. Who backflips on nearly every policy and has even suggested ICE operates like the KKK.

Never mind, the balanced NYT has labeled her a “pragmatic moderate“. We never knew that defunding the police, supporting men playing in women’s sporting codes and providing healthcare for all illegal immigrants were conservative positions. That will learn us.

As much as people may hate Trump for all of his bluster, many of his economic policies have been successful as we pointed out at the time of his SOTU. He has exposed just how useless politicians on both sides of the aisle who have served for decades have been.

His job isn’t over. When it comes to mud wrestling there is no finer professional. If it sticks he doesn’t care. He only knows forward. Await the fireworks. Democrats want revenge but they might be best to remember when embarking on it, to dig two graves.

25% of Mail-in Ballots disqualified in Brooklyn

Nothing to see here?!

According to the NY Post,

“A staggering 25% of mail-in ballots cast in Brooklyn for June’s primary elections were declared invalid, it was revealed on Tuesday, as Mayor Bill de Blasio called on the Board of Elections to shape up by November.

More than 120,000 absentee ballots were filed in Kings County for the June 23 primary but about 30,000 were initially disqualified — and it wasn’t the fault of the voters, according to Rodneyse Bichotte, head of the Brooklyn Democratic Party.

Bichotte — also a state assemblywoman whose district includes Flatbush, Ditmas Park and Midwood — said the disqualifying issues included a lack of postmark or late arrival.

The BOE was still untangling the mess six weeks after the primaries and was unable to provide hard citywide figures on Tuesday.”

It wasn’t that long ago when 19% of ballots in the Paterson New Jersey election were disqualified following accusations of ballot theft, voter fraud and intimidation. That occurred soon after it was reported that up to 700 Republican voters in one New Jersey township received ballots listing only Democrat candidates in the mail.

Any wonder Nancy Pelosi is so insistent on there being mass mail-in voting.

We wrote about the outcomes from the Carter-Baker Commission which highlighted that mail-in ballots posed the biggest risk for voter fraud.

More voter fraud by Democrats

Yet more Democrats dealing in mail-in voter fraud. This time in Indiana, just days after Democrats in New Jersey were charged with electoral fraud using mail-in ballots.

68-year-old volunteer Janet Reed pre-checked Democrat on 400 ballots before sending them out.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi keeps saying there is nothing to worry about with mail-ins.

Sadly, even former Democrat President Jimmy Carter and former Republican Secretary of State James A. Baker did a bipartisan study into improving electoral processes. We wrote about it here. In short, the study noted:

“Absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.

“While there is little evidence of fraud in Oregon where the entire state votes by mail absentee balloting in other states has been one of the major sources of fraud.”

“Vote by mail is however likely to increase the risks of fraud and of contested elections in other states where the population is more mobile where there is some history of troubled elections or where the safeguards for ballot integrity are weaker…One potential source of election fraud arises from inactive or ineligible voters left on voter registration lists. By one estimate, for example, there were over 181,000 dead people listed on the voter rolls in six swing states in the November 2004 elections including almost 65,000 dead people listed on the voter rolls in Florida.

Twitter trolls Trump with a CNN fact checker link

Social media is alight with Twitter’s bold move to add a ‘fact-check’ link (to CNN of all networks) to President Trump’s claim that mail-in voting encourages electoral fraud. Twitter argued his comment was “potentially misleading.

Two points:

1) if it was consistent, Twitter should add fact checker links to around 99% of the unsubstantiated bile that is posted everyday. Why single out POTUS other than to indulge their utter hatred of him?

2) in 2005, former President Jimmy Carter and Reagan’s former Chief of Staff James A. Baker conduct a commission on election reform.

With respect to mail-in voting, the study noted:

“Absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.

The Carter-Baker Commission argued that national voter identification was needed to prevent real ballot fraud (especially as absentee voting could lead to double voting across states by submitting by mail and voting on election day) and to keep public confidence in the election process.

Trump has 80.9 million Twitter followers. We somehow think that fact-checking conducted by left-leaning social media platforms leaning on a reprehensible network like CNN is laughable given the shameless and glaring bias.

Note that Michael Moore’s documentary, “Planet of the Humans” has been taken down from YouTube after pressure from activists on the grounds of “copyright infringement”. Just like the two doctors that spoke out about coronavirus. That video was removed as well.

How wonderful we are able to rely on such platforms to tell us what we are allowed to think.

In conclusion, Twitter is walking on thin ice. If it starts to behave as a “media” outlet doling out opinions instead of being a mere provider of a social media platform, it may find itself wearing regulations that stifle its ability to operate. Bring it on. That would be a spectacular own goal.

Democrat Party Official admits to receiving bribes to stuff ballot boxes with multiple votes

The DOJ has charged 73-year-old Domenick J. DeMuro, a Democratic Party elections judge who admitted to taking bribes to stuff ballot boxes with multiple votes in favour of Democratic candidates in 2014, 2015 and 2016 in South Philadelphia. DeMuro pleaded guilty.

We note in recent days that Trump has been questioning mail-in voting actions in states like Michigan on the grounds of the risks of voter fraud.

In 2005, former US President Jimmy Carter (Democrat) and former Chief of Staff James Baker (Republican) were tasked with an independent review under the banner of the National Commission on Federal Election Reform.

The Commission on Federal Election Reform’s conclusions were:

  1. Absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.” The Carter-Baker Commission argued that national voter identification was needed to prevent real ballot fraud (especially as absentee voting could lead to double voting across states by submitting by mail and voting on election day) and to keep public confidence in the election process.
  2. The Carter-Baker Commission recommended a move toward nonpartisan election administration. They recommended professional election administrators were appointed by governors which were approved by a supermajority vote of state legislators. The supermajority requirement would ensure legitimate bipartisan support for the election administrators.
  3. Twenty-seven states require or request some form of ID to vote. Supporters of this policy argue that if voters identify themselves before voting, election fraud will be reduced. Opponents of an ID requirement fear it will disenfranchise voters, especially the poor, members of minority groups and the elderly, who are less likely than other voters to have suitable identification. The Carter Center in 2008 noted that in three states with voter ID requirements — Indiana, Mississippi and Maryland — only about 1.2% of registered voters lacked a photo ID.
  4. The Commission offered a proposal to bridge the partisan divide by suggesting a uniform voter photo ID, based on the federal Real ID Act of 2005, to be phased in over five years. To help with the transition, states would provide free voter photo ID cards for eligible citizens; mobile units would be sent out to provide the IDs and register voters.

Alas, it was a wonderful study that hasn’t progressed much as electoral fraud remains a partisan battleground.

Here is an interesting video discussing views on voter ID laws. Just shows how ignorant some liberal-minded Americans are with respect to minorities.

We should remind you that 25 states (mainly Democrat) are working to pass a law that requires presidential candidates to release their tax returns in order to appear on the ballot. This law is specifically designed to keep Trump’s name off given his resistance to disclosing them.

One has to wonder why state legislators feel they must intervene and take away the democratic rights of voters to determine whether a candidate’s tax returns (specifically Trump’s) were a big enough issue for them. Obviously above their pay grade.

How many more DeMuros are out there?

Ohio – 170 voters aged above 116. Some 200yo

9033A702-4B42-427A-8FB3-6D9C241EACEF.png

Victory at all costs? Seems like 170 registered voters in Ohio are aged north of 116. Interesting in that the oldest person in the world is 115. In fact, there are many voters on Ohio’s rolls that list their birthdays as Jan. 1, 1800, making them 218 years old. Is Ohio the secret to long life?

Democrats have fought hard to prevent legislation to stop voter fraud. In June, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favour of Ohio’s system which will purge ineligible voters from the electoral rolls.

Ohio has voted for the winner in presidential races in twenty-eight out of the last thirty elections.

In Tuesday’s special election for Ohio’s 12th Congressional District, Republican Troy Balderson won by around around 1,600 votes with 3,000 provisional votes yet to be counted.

Media bias – so what? You ultimately choose to consume it or not

Image result for breaking news

“If you don’t read the newspaper, you’re uninformed. If you read the newspaper, you’re misinformed.” – Mark Twain

The media bias in this US presidential election is unreal. The mainstream media is chronically biased to the left. CNN, MSNBC, ABC News, NYT, WaPo and so on. On the other side is Fox, Breitbart and Drudge. Yet is it really any different to any other country? In Australia, the Fairfax media is often accused of being left and the Murdoch media right wing. In the UK the Guardian is biased to the left and the Daily Express to the right. I could cite many other countries and get similar results. Are we susrprised?

Ultimately as consumers (readers), we get to pick and choose what we wish to read. The advent of smartphones and digital technology is that the way consume is vastly different. No longer are we restricted to the narrow assortment of newspapers from our newsagent we can access pretty much any news from any country at anytime. No longer do we need to wait for a paper boy to lob our cling film wrapped Sunday issue onto the porch although some still like to do as a ritual.

We are spoiled for choice. Whinging about the MSM devoting 180 minutes to Trump’s locker room video and 11 minutes to Clinton’s Wikileaks accusations won’t really make a difference. We shouldn’t be surprised by the actions of CNN, which is even referred to as the Clinton News Network,of WaPo. Media outlets will ultimately pay a price if readers/viewers get fed up with the offering. Look at the NFL. Ratings have fallen 15% this year in part caused by athletes kneeling during the national anthem. Viewers pay to watch multi million dollar athletes play NFL not buy into their political moral outrage.

Look at the way we consume media. Now social media feeds are littered with “trends” and our friends choose to send things that they feel strongly about. The only real time I actually read a hard copy newspaper is on an airplane or waiting in a lobby. I do not sit down and watch 4 hours of CNN as a ritual. Read all the Pew Stats you like but traditional media sources are falling off a cliff. Part technology but part content.

The standard of journalism is going down the plughole. Because media is now consumed in soundbites, catchy headlines that bear little resemblance to the contents are almost commonplace. I remember after the Fukushima power plant explosion, one article read, “Aircraft detected with higher than normal reading of radiation”. Aghast, Fukushima was irradiating aircraft! Although in the body it was revealed the aircraft’s payload manifest was radiation equipment.

Yes it stinks that we read so much garbage today on topics that fill the agenda of the media. It is ultimately their choice to present news in their own format and own biases, except Australia’s ABC is ruled by charter to be impartial although is anything but. Whether it be human rights, climate change or politics. The sensationalist factor is greater than ever. Journalists probably get rewarded more for the number of clicks and shares than winning Pulitzer prizes.

Fact checking? Who needs facts. Look at your social media feeds. One group sends out every anti-Trump piece of bile from WaPo and NYT while completely dismissing all of the scandals from their own side. Even when questioned in the comments section about defending the indefensible, some dig in their heels. Some of these people are highly intelligent yet are just as biased as the media. I often think it says a lot about the “sharer” than what is actually “shared”. I find it hilarious that some people go to the extreme of “deleting” friends from their social media feeds because they disagree with their position. Once again it speaks volumes of the “deleter” not the “deleted.” One person proudly trumpeted she deleted friends who voted “Leave” after the Brexit referendum. Wow, are friendships so superficial that they risk being erased over exercising democratic rights?

So yes, the media can continue to form their biases created inside an echo chamber and pay the ultimate penalty of losing readers and viewers. In an ideal world it would be nice to find balanced well thought out journalism but reality is that is unlikely to happen, perhaps until it is too late. Perhaps the tale of the Sydney Morning Herald firing dozens of journalists earlier this year makes the point. Instead of conceding their poor journalism was to blame for plummeting readership they blamed their evil commercial bosses and even went on strike to protest. One of the few journalists who stayed on admitted the problem was ‘content’ but his colleagues labeled him a traitor and a sell-out.

I have been accused of running a pro-Trump bias on this blog. Not so. My main purpose has been to address the media bias on the other side. Instead of just falling for Trump is a racist, bigoted, hot-headed and disgusting oaf narrative I have tried to address other aspects of why his crowds are so huge, the economic backdrop that is creating his rise and pointing out why so many Democrats can defend Hillary’s ever growing list of scandals. I ran into the same flak when writing an “anti-environment” blog during the height of the renewable energy bubble. I argued that no-one was questioning the other side of the debate. I would receive anger mail at my stance. I kept saying that the way people are blindly following the herd on climate change and the government subsidies will be exactly why the thematic will collapse under the weight of its own propaganda. I argued that most of those climate plays would be worth 5% of then share prices as the overcapacity created by reckless government policy assured it and a coming recession would put climate alarmism to the bottom of many people’s priorities.

In closing we should not censure mainstream media bias. We should encourage it. Embrace it. The digital world allows us to consume our own feeds and news. I rarely look at WaPo, NYT or CNN for this reason. They publish ill-thought out puff pieces and I don’t think I’m alone in thinking this way. Their ratings will ultimately reflect their misreading of the mood of the people they are appealing to. To date they’ve thrown every salvo at Trump and still haven’t ended him. If Trump wins or Hillary doesn’t win by a landslide they should take a long look in the mirror at their complete lack of impact. In other words nobody has been listening.

To that end, this video from Project Veritas exposes the inner workings of the voter fraud by Democrats which the MSM is not wishing to air. Surprised? No. Then again look at it as another reason to tune out.
