Civility Wars – 2019 in review

As we roll into the final days of 2019, FNF Media has complied some of the highlights/lowlights of 2019, a year which probably defines the war on civility. To us, confected outrage has been a strong theme. There is no doubt that in 2020 we will only see the battle of the oppression Olympics hit new highs.

Having had the privilege of living abroad for the past 20 years in a country that knows no political correctness, coming back to my Aussie homeland over the past 12 months has opened my eyes to just how pathetic a nation we have become in so many areas and how afraid many are to speak out for fear of being whacked by the woke warriors.

So lets have a look at how 2019 panned out, in no particular order.

1) CLIMATE EMERGENCY & BOWING DOWN TO A 16-YO TRUANT

Climate change causes everything OK and how dare you question a 16yo pigtailed truant for pointing out your wicked ways.

Remember the caring and nurturing Newington College headmaster rolling over to student demands to attend the climate strike in Sydney? As we pointed out, the school’s academic achievement rank in the HSC just completed saw the school sink from rank 98th to 176th.

At the very least we got to see students, so oblivious to their own hypocrisy, happy to gorge on McDonalds after the strike, despite that evil bastion of capitalism summarizing single use disposable waste with their guardians.

We shouldn’t forget how many local councils strayed from the remit of mowing parks and collecting residential rubbish to pass resolutions on the ‘climate emergency.’ Bega Shire Council unfortunately boasted about the increased air traffic through the local airport and Northern Beaches Council championed a 293t CO2 saving which would assist the world by a mammoth 0.000000000699857% saving! Yes 9 zeroes. Little did they know they put a picture of its least efficient fossil fuel powered vehicle on the cover of the latest annual report.

2) BUSHFIRES & A PRIME MINISTER ON HOLIDAYS

How easy it was for the media to lambast the PM Scott Morrison for taking a holiday during the bushfires. Instead of staging political theatre where he handed out water bottles in front of dozens of media crews getting in the way of fire fighters, we spent over a week beating him up. Funny how Queensland Premier Anastasia Palaszczuk escaped all criticism for the same crime for taking a cruise?

How quick the media used climate change as the culprit despite almost 100 people being arrested for suspected arson. Never mind the Australian Institute of Criminology’s statistics that show 85% of all bushfires are either accidentally, suspiciously or deliberately lit.

How quickly the press fell in love with former PM Tony Abbott who they admonished for helping fight fires while in the top job now they had a new person to attack.

3) ARMCHAIR EXPERTS ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Ah but 29 former fire-fighting chiefs (under stewardship from the Climate Council’s very own High Priest of Dud Predictions, Tim Flannery) told us climate change was the main culprit behind the bushfires, even though the West Australian government’s own fire fighting wing categorically writes the exact opposite.

FNF Media stated that we couldn’t hold a candle to these brave firefighters when it comes to battling blazes, but that expertise in climate science was not a given.

What a joke it was to have the Australian Medical Association (AMA) pushing its complete lack of knowledge in climate science to ram home our reckless ways. Never mind that AMA membership as a % of doctors has plummeted from 95% to around 27%. Isn’t their a membership emergency it should focus on?

Even better we had our regulators APRA and ASIC stepped into the breach to warn us of why our corporates must report on climate change, even though their own statistics bear out that companies have viewed it as less of an issue over the past 6 years. So if companies won’t comply with things that don’t seem to be a problem, our regulators will enforce it so they can garner extra observatory oversight at taxpayer expense, even though they fail time and time again on catching errant behaviour.

Never mind, the Australian Conservation Foundation has lent on Cricket Australia for not using its platform to push climate change! How wonderful to learn that the UN created yet another body to push the climate change agenda. Would people truly listen to Cricket Australia on the climate emergency especially as day/night BBL matches are played almost daily with players jetting across the country non-stop?

4) HOTTEST TEMPERATURES EVER?

How the media fawned over the claims that Australia had its hottest recorded average temperatures ever. Never mind that the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) starts its data set from 1910, politely ignoring far hotter temperatures in 1896 and 1909.

5) ACTIVIST INDUSTRY FUNDS FAIL TO MEET THEIR OWN STANDARDS

Instead of pushing for maximum returns on investment, half of our ACSI member industry superannuation funds failed to meet the very criteria they set for corporate Australia in terms of gender targets. Poor CEO Katie Page at Harvey Norman had to face a barrage of criticism over these woke metrics at her company despite the long term performance of the retailer smashing the socially responsible industry funds by a country mile.

6) ISRAEL FOLAU & RUGBY AUSTRALIA

No need to go over his controversial tweets. No need to cover the supposed settlement and mutual apology. What Folau exposed was the utter incompetence at Rugby Australia. The complete failure in management that led to the coach of the main franchise to proclaim he had no relationship with the CEO and a poor one with the chair.

All of this aside, when a sporting franchise pursues avenues that alienate the very fans that pay the bills, that is never going to be a wise move. Revenues are floundering alongside match attendance.

7) GET WOKE, GO BROKE

Who could forget the ridiculous toxic masculinity campaign led by Gillette? What a surprise that its parent P&G was forced to write off US$8bn (an entire Qantas Airlines) in market value. There is a high chance when you walk into Woolworths or Coles that Gillette products are deeply discounted. A great lesson in why corporates shouldn’t dictate terms to their customers.

On a hilarious note, a vegan feminist cafe was forced to close in Melbourne. Little did it realise that hating your customers could lead to bad reviews. One Trip Advisor comment went so far as to say,

A terrible cafe that has no respect for either equality or the law, with horrible staff that I swear the owner had to scour the scum of the earth to find. Spend half an hour trying to get a waitress to come over and when they finally showed up they told me I’d have to wait because I was a “cis gendered white man” and there were women who needed to be served first. According to the waitress I’d have to wait until ALL women in the shop were served before they’d take my order, even those who came in after me. I left at that moment and will never return.

8) UNWINNABLE ELECTIONS & DUD POLLS

This year has been a year of unwinnable elections. BoJo got his mandate to leave the EU. Gladys Berijiklian won in NSW against ‘thank you for your service’ Michael Daley and Scott Morrison beating Bill Shorten in the federal election. It is no longer about parties but respecting the will of the people. Politicians must not forget this in future elections. Batman summed it up best. How many times have we seen polls miss the mark? Ever more so, people are hiding their true preference until the ballot box.

9) IMPEACHMENT

What a clown show. The Democrats have turned what should have been an exceptionally grave and serious event surrounding impeachment into a complete circus. From Dem representatives wearing Batgirl costumes to vote, to a Stanford law professor who confessed to crossing the street to avoid walking in front of a Trump building when testifying as a key witness to another Dem representative live streaming golf during the hearings. To top off the supposedly solemn occasion, Nancy Pelosi had to zip up her unruly kids after radical left wing representative Rashida Tlaib live streamed her beaming smile on the way to vote to impeach Trump.

So embarrassing have the hearings been that Americans don’t support the impeachment of the president.

10) IDENTITY POLITICS

Where to begin? As a middle-aged white heterosexual male FNF Media has the worst selection from the identikit.

Perhaps the best quote from the radical left on the poison that is identity politics, Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley who said,

We don’t need any more brown faces that don’t want to be a brown voice. We don’t need black faces that don’t want to be a black voice. We don’t need Muslims that don’t want to be a Muslim voice. We don’t need queers that don’t want to be a queer voice.

Since when did all black, brown, queer or Muslim voices all conform to a predetermined script of how they must behave, act and think? Don’t comments like this make those who practice identity politics as the very racists, bigots and fascists they condemn?

The funniest take on identity politics was a motorcyclist competing as a cyclist because who is anyone to say he wasn’t who he said he was?

11) OUR NATIONAL BROADCASTER & BIAS

Our ABC has claimed forever that it is unbiased. How embarrassing that an internal staff survey showed only 46% of staff were engaged. Many complained that management failed to deal with underperformers appropriately.

How the Q&A program allowed a bunch of feminists who supported the murder of men, the destruction of the white patriarchy and setting things alight. Management issued an apology several days later citing the need for an inquiry.

Don’t forget that ABC Kids also has no problem making shows educating kids about white privilege.

12) DO AUSSIES REALLY WANT JACINDA ARDERN AS PM?

How many times have we read media comments that Australians pine for NZ PM Jacinda Ardern to lead us?

Yet how many of the 570,000 kiwis living in Australia have made a B-line to return to the land of the long white cloud and bask in the wokeness of the Wellness Budget? We wrote, that Ardern’s wonderfully ‘marketed’ package was less generous than what Australia already provides in the mental health and social wellbeing areas. What a surprise no media bothered to report on it? Instead we had Lisa Wilkinson implore ScoMo pick up the phone if he was ever in doubt, despite winning the unwinnable election! Her husband, Peter Fitzsimons had his finger off the pulse re Brexit, slamming the decision by Brits as harking after Little Britain.

13) THE WAR ON FREE SPEECH

It is quite disturbing to read what constitutes as hate speech. Rigel Robinson, a young councillor in Berkeley, California has said that “words matter“. The city will remove gender-specific language like “manhole” and change it to  “maintenance hole.” In his proposal, the words “policemen” and “policewomen” will also be phased out. “He” and “she” will also get the boot in favour of “they”.

One story that many missed was one about Oberlin College in the US. The university was sued $44m for falsely accusing a bakery of racism when they had simply caught several students shoplifting. The university blew it up into a racism story.

14) JUSSIE SMOLLETT & HATE CRIME

Who could forget the elaborate hoax set up by Empire actor Jussie Smollett in order to stoke tensions against MAGA hat wearers. How fantastic that the Chicago Police turned on him for wasting their time and charging him with the bill for their investigative work. What a surprise to see the mainstream media latch onto the hoax which was further pushed by politicians like Maxine Waters.

Hate crime in America according to the FBI has plummeted in the last two decades. For Smollett’s reference, Anti Black Hate Crimes have more than halved since 1996. As a % of the black population, Anti-Black hate crimes have fallen from 0.0131% to 0.0046% of their racial background.

15) THE STATE OF EDUCATION AROUND THE WORLD

We should be really worried at the state of how our universities have ceased to be campuses of free thought and open mindedness.

The Inclusive Communications Task Force at the Colorado State University has introduced an appropriate language guide and it has deemed the words “America” and “Americans” might prove offensive to some and have discouraged their use on campus. The reason?

The Americas encompass a lot more than the United States. There is South America, Central America, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean just to name a few of 42 countries in total. That’s why the word “americano” in Spanish can refer to anything on the American continent. Yet, when we talk about “Americans” in the United States, we’re usually just referring to people from the United States. This erases other cultures and depicts the United States as the dominant American country.

Some of the other loony words that are deemed offensive include:

Basket case, Eye for an eye, Takes the cake, Crazy / Nuts / Maniac / Lunatic / Insane / Deranged / Psycho / Demented / Depressed / OCD, Freshman, Eenie meenie miney moe, He or She, Ladies or Gentlemen

The University of San Francisco went on a mission to ensure that white students checked their privilege and ran an entire ad campaign around campus which can ge seen here.

If we wrap students in any more cotton wool they will not know how the real world works when they enter it.

It extends to kindergarten too. The loony left are looking to equate kisses from a grandparent with sexual consent. It doesn’t take much imagination but in the Democratic People’s Republic of Victoria some educational apparatchiks believe a grandparent kissing their grandchild can violate them. In what world does a grandparent showing affection to their own flesh and blood have incest on their minds? Most likely never.

Is it any wonder we have falling PISA scores when our educators are focused on this irrelevant garbage?

16) WHERE WOULD WE BE WITHOUT THE WISDOM OF CELEBRITIES?

It wasn’t so long ago that Will.I.Am got into a disagreement with a Qantas stewardess who asked him to follow her guidelines. So incensed was he that he posted her name on Twitter to dox her. Good on Qantas for agreeing to support her legal defamation case.

Hollywood Actress Rosanna Arquette told the world of her “disgust” and “shame” at the “white privilege” afforded her. She tweeted, “I’m sorry I was born white and privileged…it disgusts me and I feel so much shame“. If she feels so badly about maybe she should sell her mansion, move to a poor neighborhood and give her money away to charities that support non-white minorities. Only then can she atone for the sins of her parents for not making her another colour.

Who could forget the praise for US Women’s Soccer Team champ Megan Rapinoe who pushed the equal pay movement in soccer despite every other person and their dog knowing that revenue drives pay. She used her Sports Illustrated sportsperson of the year award to attack the very people that gave it to her.

At least her antics rubbed off on the Aussie Matildas women’s team which happened to be beaten 7-0 by a bunch of 14yo boys. When will sporting codes just face up to reality? If men’s sports attract 4-5x the audience, is it any wonder pay rates are different? Could it be both men and women prefer the men’s game in most sports.

17) WHEN COUNCILS IGNORE THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE

One of FNF Media’s favour the clips was from the Seattle City Council which was criticized by a resident for planting with their phones while he was asking a legitimate question.

18) WHEN TRUMP CUT FUNDING FROM THE NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION

So the media unsurprisingly hurled abuse at Trump for his plans to cut National Science Foundation (NSF) funding by $1bn. Typical. Yet maybe it’s worth reminding ourselves how the NSF has misappropriated taxpayer funds with such reckless negligence.

The “National Science Foundation: Under the Microscope paper from 2011 documented some of the misappropriation of funds as follows,

An $80,000 study on why the same teams always dominate March Madness”, a “$315,000 study suggesting playing FarmVille on Facebook helps adults develop and maintain relationships”, a study costing “$1 million for an analysis of how quickly parents respond to trendy baby names”, a study costing “$50,000 to produce and publicize amateur songs about science, including a rap called “Money 4 Drugz,” and a misleading song titled “Biogas is a Gas, Gas, Gas”;” a study costing”$2 million to figure out that people who often post pictures on the internet from the same location at the same time are usually friends”; and “$581,000 on whether online dating site users are racist”.Ineffective management examples, cited in the report, included “ineffective contracting”, “$1.7 billion in unspent funds sitting in expired, undisbursed grant accounts”, “at least $3 million in excessive travel funds”, “a lack of accountability or program metrics to evaluate expenditures” and “inappropriate staff behavior including porn surfing and Jello wrestling and skinny-dipping at NSF-operated facilities in Antarctica”

We should reflect on the wise words of Thomas Sowell,

Those who cry out that the government should ‘do something’ never even ask for data on what has actually happened when the government did something, compared to what actually happened when the government did nothing.”

IN CONCLUSION

Thank you to all FNF Media’s readers, critics and comments. Wishing everyone a wonderful 2020 even though we should prepare ourselves for it to be 2019 with more of the ridiculousness we have compiled for this year.

We will endeavor to fight for free speech and use data to disprove much of the group think espoused by today’s mainstream media and increasingly our academics.

Taylor rants about toxic masculinity and private equity

Poor old Taylor Swift. As she took her Billboard Woman of the Decade award, she went on a typical celebrity rant about toxic masculinity and all the other oppression she has faced which still allowed her to cream millions.

Yet the most striking part of her speech (from the 11 minute mark) was to get upset at the sale of her works to a private equity firm and not being consulted about how she feels.

Boo hoo.

Taylor, when you sign with a record label and that company is bought out, it is merely a transfer of rights which you signed over. If your works mean so much to you by all means approach the PE consortium and ask to buy it back so you can control it. The true value of your worth will be what sticker price they put on it.

Either you’ll be outraged at the low price they put on it which you’ll say undervalues your worth or be disgusted at how expensive it is because they are mercenaries who seek to extract maximum returns, you know. The very capitalist system you despise.

Put simply, shut up and stop telling the world how tough your life is from your ivory tower behind a gated security wall.

Q&A and Kiwi Envy

Oh, the irony.  Q&A, the climate change fearing ABC program, decided to fly to Fiji, belching harmful CO2 along the way to host the show and talk about the potential for climate refugees in the Pacific from rising sea levels and Kiwi envy.

First off the bat, if the ABC want to endorse the Kiwi envy narrative, Q&A might consider the funding structure and staffing levels of TVNZ while they’re at it. Maybe that way the broadcaster could arrest the long term slump in ratings and fix the discontented workforce.

CM wrote six months ago in regards to this,

If you want to look at why the ABC doesn’t need more money, look at the staff costs to income ratio. Despite plateauing between 2008 & 2011 it quickly exploded. It now sits at 46% of tax dollars appropriated. That is $524mn on staff costs per year and rising. 4,939 staff grace the ABC. Revenue per employee is $232,000. A decade ago it was $232,700. Is that what the management target is for hiring? Give the ABC $2bn and presumably, it will have employment costs of $1bn.

Maybe ABC should channel the New Zealand state broadcaster, TVNZ. It gets $310m of its $318m purse from advertising. It’s staff costs excluding capitalizing into programs is $72m which converts to 23% staff cost/revenues. They do with 642 FT employees. Revenue/employee is $495,000. It paid a dividend back to the government of $3.7m. i.e. it is a revenue-generating asset.

In 2007, TVNZ had $339m in revenue. It employed 1,023 people. Therefore revenue per employee was $331,380. So in a decade, TVNZ efficiency improved almost 50%. A 6% cut to revenue on 63% of the staff.

How envious are you now ABC? Thought so.

As to rising sea levels and climate refugees. Virginie K. E. Duvat of the Institut du Littoral et de l’Environnement, University of la Rochelle-CNRS, La Rochelle sponsored by the French National Research Agency; French Ministry of Environment, Energy and Oceans (MEEM) wrote.

Analysis “using tide gauges and satellites showed 30 Pacific and Indian Ocean atolls including 709 islands, revealed that no atoll lost land area and that 88.6% of islands were either stable or increased in area, while only 11.4% contracted.

So where are these climate refugees really coming from?

Then there was the demand that Australia gives up on coal mining. Suppose we do. We should then tell our Pacific neighbours that we can’t afford to cut multi $100mn cheques every year so they can waste it like PNG did on buying 40 Maserati Quattroporte sports sedans as government cars. Give them an option – no coal and no cash or coal and cash? We know which will be selected.

Yet CM loves the garbage espoused in the SMH which continues its hard-left bent, even after being acquired. One would have hoped lessons would be learnt. Clearly not. The SMH folded to the groupthink attack on the Minister for International Development and the Pacific, Alex Hawke for not being like NZ.

Perhaps Q&A might look at the facts there too. Remember when the media was fawning all over NZ PM Jacinda Ardern’s Wellness Budget? The idea that a budget should be solely based on economics is not progressive and more should be directed at “well-being”. That is not to say this budget is not “well-intentioned”. However, the statistics compared to across the ditch do not fare well on relative terms.

Comparing her recent policies versus Australia reveals the kangaroos get better access to social services than the kiwis. How surprising that none of the mainstream media bothered to look at the budget numbers on a like for like basis? Just praise her because she represents their ideal version of a socialist leader.  CM has looked through both budgets and adjusted for currency to make for easier like-for-like comparisons.

When it comes to health spending per capita (currency-adjusted), Australia is expected to climb from A$3,324 in 2019 to A$3,568 in 2022. NZ is expected to go up slightly from A$3,516 to A$3,561 respectively.

On social security and welfare, Australia is expected to pay out A$7,322 per capita in 2019, growing to A$7,977. NZ, on the other hand, is forecast to go from A$5,573 per head to A$6,489.

On mental health, Australia forked out around A$9.1bn exclusively on these services reaching 4.2m citizens last year. NZ is planning on spending A$45.1m in 2019 with a total of A$428m by 2023/24 to hit 325,000 people on frontline services for mental health. While the move is a positive one, NZ will allocate A$1.78bn to mental health as a whole over 5 years. On an annualised basis, Australia will still allocate 5x the NZ amount to mental health per capita. So much for wellbeing.

On education, NZ plans to increase per capita spending 7.9% between 2019 and 2022 whereas Australia will lift it 12.5% over the same period. NZ spends around 2x Australia per capita on education although PISA scores between 2006 and 2015 are virtually identical (and both heading south).

On public housing, Ardern can claim a victory. Australia is expected to cut spending per capita from A$240 in 2019 to A$194 in 2022 when NZ will go from A$137 to A$282. Although let’s hope Ardern has more success than her KiwiBuild policy. The Australian’s Judith Sloan rightly pointed out,

“Ardern also has stumbled with other policies, most notably KiwiBuild. The pledge was to build 100,000 additional affordable homes by 2028.

It has since been modified to facilitation by the government to help build new homes. Moreover, the definition of affordability has been altered from between $NZ350,000 ($340,000) and $NZ450,000 to $NZ650,000.

What started off as an ill-considered public housing project has turned out to be an extremely unsuccessful private real estate scam. The government estimated that there would be 1000 homes built last year under KiwiBuild; it turned out to be 47.”

In the process, NZ’s national debt per capita will grow from A$21,550 in 2019 to A$25,206 by 2022. Australia will climb from A$22,764 to A$23,293.

Look at page 119 of the NZ Wellbeing Budget, we can see the government is forecasting the economy to slow and unemployment to rise.

As we wrote several months ago, the statistics that Aussies are about to pack their bags and head of to NZ are not supported. CM wrote,

“According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, there are 568,000 New Zealanders in Australia, or more than double the total 3-decades ago. Therefore more than 11% of the Kiwi population lives in Australia. At last census count, 35,000 New Zealanders migrated to Australia in 2018.

According to the New Zealand Statistics Bureau, 38,700 Aussies live in New Zealand. In the January 2018 year, 24,900 migrants arrived from Australia and a similar number departed for Australia.

Stats NZ stated, “Over half of migrants arriving from Australia are actually returning Kiwis who have been living across the Tasman for more than a year…The number of migrants going back and forth to Australia in the past year almost balanced each other out – the net gain was just 40 people in the last 12 months.”

As socialists love to point out, “feelings matter far more than facts“. Just goes to show how easily people will fall for a catchy headline, rather than judge it on its merits. Time the “woke” wake up from this slumber. By all means, celebrate more recognition of higher mental health spending but best put it in perspective. Jacinda Ardern is ordinary.

Jacinda Ardern may sell her dream much better to the woke set, but give me ScoMo any day. Kiwi envy? Really.

Why free speech matters, even for those accusing firefighters of wife beating

The Greens have proven exactly why free speech, they so detest, is so important. It is by this inalienable right that we get to see the true colours of people or movements. We don’t have to like what it is said. In this case the very party that gave a platform to the individual in question has now distanced itself.

During the bushfires, these unhinged lunatics within The Greens have spoken of the government as “borderline arsonists” and promoted domestic violence advocate, Sherele Moody, who said,”Women become extremely unsafe when, generally, the men return home from the fires and subject them to domestic violence.

So instead of heaping praise on the brave souls defending lives and property, often as volunteers, Moody accuses them of being wife beaters. By that logic, maybe some of the brave female fire fighters go home to beat their husbands because cataclysmic events cause domestic violence to peak. It is a ridiculous assertion.

Has Moody got the full facts?

Let’s explore the research. According to a UK study,

“Male victims  (39%) are over three times as likely than women (12%) not to tell anyone about the partner abuse they are suffering from. Only 10% of male victims will tell the police (26% women), only 23% will tell a person in an official position (43% women) and only 11% (23% women) will tell a health professional.

The number of women convicted of perpetrating domestic abuse has increased sevenfold since 2004/05. From 806 in 2004/05 to 5,641 in 2015/16…In 2015, 119,000 men reported to English and Welsh police forces stating they were a victim of domestic abuse. 22% of all victims who report to the police are male. In 2012, 73,524 men did…

Men don’t leave abusive relationships for various reasons – the top reasons being: concern about the children (89%), marriage for life (81%), love (71%), the fear of never seeing their children again (68%), a belief she will change (56%), not enough money(53%), nowhere to go (52%), embarrassment (52%), not wanting to take kids away from their mother (46%), threats that she will kill herself (28%) and fears she will kill him (24%).

Of those that suffered from partner abuse in 2012/13, 29% of men and 23% of women suffered a physical injury, a higher proportion of men suffering severe bruising or bleeding (6%) and internal injuries or broken bones/teeth (2%) than women (4% and 1% respectively). 30% of men who suffer from partner abuse have emotional and mental problems (47% women). Only 27% of men sought medical advice whilst 73% of women did.

The percentage of gay or bi-sexual men (6.2%) who suffered partner abuse in 2008/09 is nearly double the number for heterosexual men (3.3%). Lesbian women (12.4%) as a percentage also suffered far more partner abuse compared to heterosexual women (4.3%).

The US National Intimate Partner Sexual Violence Survey (NIPSVS) conducted in 2010 showed that 25 million men had claimed they were victims of some form of sexual violence by an intimate partner or acquaintance. Heather Jo Flores wrote in The Independent with respect to disrespecting women,

Men, it’s not our job to keep reminding you. Remind each other, and stop abusing. It’s as simple as that. Until men speak out against men who abuse, this will never stop. How about y’all post “I ignored it and I won’t anymore” instead? Because #hearyou doesn’t cut it. Just hearing us doesn’t cut it. Taking action, speaking out, and showing zero tolerance for abuse is the only way through. Silence enables. Be the change..So why do men need to have multiple victims come forward before anybody says a damn thing”

Flores went on to say, “Yes, I know men get abused too. Once in a lifetime, maybe a handful of times, in extreme situations. And they get abused by men, mostly. Just like us…I write this to ask: why are we still demanding that women out themselves as survivors, again and again and again, rather than demanding that men out themselves as abusers? Violence against women is a daily reality,.”

In the 12 month period conducted in the NIPSVS survey, 6.46mn women and 6.1mn men were victims of sexual violence by their partner, an acquaintance or stranger. 4.74mn women were victims of physical violence by men and 5.365mn men were victims of physical violence by women. Hardly a handful of times, nor at the hands of men.

1.555mn men claimed their intimate female partner hit them with fists or a hard object vs 1.289m women making the claim. 3.13mn men were slapped by their women vs 1.85mn women being slapped by men.

Awful stats on any measure. Still, it puts paid the notion that men are generally victims of other men once a blue moon. When it came to psychological intimidation around 20.5mn men were victims of it vs 16.5mn women.

The NIPSVS survey was conducted again in 2011 and revealed much the same trends.

Moody was foolish to say that people who sacrifice so much to save lives seek to balance their spiritual yin by bashing their partners. Anyone can see how silly her remarks were although the ABC is probably quietly kicking itself for not inviting her into the Q&A panel the other week with the rest of the radical feminists who want to kill rapists and burn things.

This is why free speech is important. Sometimes we need to get such people out in the open to undermine themselves. Her credibility is duly shot. This hopefully sends a message that the people who may seek to pick up Moody’s mantle look to use better balance when prosecuting a legitimate problem without having to smear those who are worthy of our deepest praise in the process.

Sunlight is the best disinfectant.

Greta, the poster child for a dysfunctional education system

Greta.png

You have to hand it to the left. They truly have indoctrination down pat. While there is a sense of awe at the sheer number of kids who attended Friday’s protests around the world at the expense of school (in some cases even exams), 16yo Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg, the poster child for ‘climate change’, has exposed how dysfunctional our educational system has become. Forget discipline. Dismiss reasoned discussion. Conform and get rewarded for it.

CM has always felt sorry for Greta’s exploitation. She typifies the style of propaganda used over generations. The way that the UN, EU or World Economic Forum hang off her every word. It is deeply embarrassing. Made worse by the hypocrisy of 1,500 private jets used to fly to hear her speak in Davos.

Many teachers and parents of these kids are no better. Often espousing patronizing and sanctimonious sermons about the intelligence of the youth today. Not to worry, Extinction Rebellion has even published a piece on hypocrisy. Thomas Sinclair wrote,

Someone who doesn’t know the evidence might perhaps be persuaded to review it. But someone who thinks I’m a hypocrite may suppose that I’ve reviewed the evidence and am acting on it — so she can skip the review herself and take my actions as her guide.” Take that!

He goes on,

However, XR can do better than the standard response. The most important point is this. There is no hypocrisyDriving to XR protests, or using vinyl banners, or eating a Pret sandwich at an XR roadblock — these are not hypocritical actions. Hypocrisy is a matter of preaching one thing but practising another. But what XR preaches is a radical change of the system within which we must make our choices, not of the choices we make within the system as it stands.

What infallible logic! How could we be so obtuse? Those kids CM found eating McDonald’s before the climate strike were completely aware of their actions. They were “highlighting” the problem of the fast-food chain’s utter disdain for the planet to serve food in single-use plastics and paper packaging. It was a cry to get McDonald’s to change its wicked ways. Or was it they were just oblivious to the fact that, while gorging on hamburgers, fries and thick shakes, were unable to fathom their own double standards. Lucky for them, Sinclair has a get out of jail free card. Who knew?

It wasn’t so long ago that a CIS study in Australia revealed that 58% of millennials had a favourable view of socialism. Unfortunately, 51% did not know who Chairman Mao was. Another 32% did not know Stalin and 42% hadn’t heard of Lenin. If we combine with “know but not familiar” with “don’t know” we see almost 80%, 66% and 74% respectively. Oh, how wonderful to learn in school about three men whose social policies led to the deaths of 10s of millions. Unbeknownst to them, many of their teachers follow the same Marxist mindset.

What more proof do you need when an RMIT senior lecturer tweeted he’d award full marks for 5% of the course for those that attended provided they sent in a selfie. Presumably, those that didn’t submit a selfie would be secretly docked marks. RMIT made a glib response to the professor’s tweet which went along the lines of defending the indefensible. Pathetic. He should be severely reprimanded or sacked for completely unprofessional conduct.

Corporations often complain about the difficulty in hiring the skills they need to grow. Shouldn’t they now be extra wary that the degrees awarded to those they are looking to hire have been issues on the basis of aligned participation, not academic effort? Qantas CEO Alan Joyce and Virgin Australia CEO Paul Scurrah might make noise about having to be big on social justice to attract the next generation but if they attend schools which openly support activism quite frankly they are all theirs! CM would prefer investing in companies that hire kids who got their education that cost $2.50 in late charges at the public library.

CM has written before on the slipping standards in Aussie education. Is it any wonder when a growing number of teachers are radical activists. Our education system needs a massive overhaul. Our ranks in maths, science and literacy have all been heading south. We aren’t teaching our kids that the real world out there is a touch place. Wrapping them in cotton wool will not serve them at all in later life. That will ironically be the real impact of chasing climate change agendas and the misguided policy that was enacted due to weak-willed authorities.

Although don’t get too excited about a sea change in thinking to fix this awful course. The latest 2019 OECD report has been captured by the warming cult, justifying worsening trends in education on shifts in society, even going so far as to quote (p.16) Decca Records rejecting The Beatles back in 1962 as evidence of how we can get it wrong.

Justifying – although not admitting – the slip (denoted as a “shift”) in education standards on climate change is insane in the extreme. Lucky for us there is a summary version written by the OECD. The full report is here. 479 pages of blather.

There are too many examples of schools around the globe folding to this Marxist nonsense. In the past, student bodies embracing Marxism as a fad were par for the course. Now the university faculties are the drivers. For example:

Posters from the University of San Francisco (uSF) point at white students so they appropriately check their privilege. Karl Marx may have recently turned 200 but his legacy lives and breathes in California. So much for universities being the cradle of free and open thinking.

The Inclusive Communications Task Force at the Colorado State University has introduced an appropriate language guide and it has deemed the words “America” and “Americans” might prove offensive to some and have discouraged their use on campus.

The University of Texas launched, “MasculinUT”, a program which was organized by the school’s counselling staff with a poster series encouraging students to develop a “healthy model of masculinity.” The program is built around “restrictive masculinity” and tries to encourage men to drop traditional gender roles to “act like a man”, be “successful” or “the breadwinner.”

Dr. Aaron Brough of Utah State University conducted a study to see if there is a correlation between toxic masculinity and climate change. His assumptions ran the line that men see environmentalism as more feminine and get triggered if forced to make ecological choices if they feel threatened.

The University of Melbourne allowed an artistic performance that required “paying” white customers access on the basis of signing an acknowledgement of white privilege. The $600mn+ taxpayer-funded University of Melbourne’s motto is Postera Cescam Laude, which is Latin for “We shall grow in the esteem of future generations.” It is not clear whether the founders of the UoM had Marxist theories at the forefront of their minds in 1853. Growing the esteem of future generations was not to come by cutting down those whose passions as individuals cause them to strive for greatness. Yet the radical leftists believe esteem comes, not from effort, but allocation.

Don’t think that the indoctrination begins in secondary or tertiary education. From tender ages, in the Democratic People’s Republic of Victoria, some educational apparatchiks believe a grandparent kissing their grandchild can violate them and can be considered assault. In what world does a grandparent showing affection to their own flesh and blood have incest on their minds? Most likely never.

It would seem to CM that the most important Royal Commission to be conducted is on our education system. From Safe School programs to universities, Australia’s long term future is being seriously impacted by utterly valueless indoctrination. We will not be the lucky country for much longer because this garbage is already seeping into corporate board rooms.

Note CM in no way thinks Greta Thunberg is associated with Nazis.

Job opening: Activism & Impact Manager

Activism

This is actually a job. Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream is hiring an ‘Activism and Impact Manager‘. Lucky for them, its parent Unilever is also a woke corporation. The job spec is simple:

Do you have at least three years’ experience working in campaigning within the NGO, charity or grassroots movement-building space? Have you got a passion for the idea that business can be used to drive positive change in the world? Do issues of social and environmental justice drive you to take action and are you able to persuade others to join you?

Values-led ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s is recruiting an Activism and Impact Manager to lead social and environmental justice campaigns in Australia and New Zealand with our team in Sydney.

CM guesses that milk shaking conservatives is a new thing of the left so there are some definite synergies to be had by “Ben & Jerrying” them. Hopefully, the Chief “Woke” Officer (CWO) can offset any losses to Unilever’s bottom line by encouraging activists to only use social and environmental just milk-based products from Ben & Jerry’s to ensure that the lost business from one side is made up through willful waste on the other.

When will businesses learn that telling their customers how to behave is not required? Yet another business to swipe from the list – Nike, Gillette, Ben & Jerry’s, Colgate, Starbucks…

PG slices another $8bn off Gillette in 4Q

P&G reported stronger earnings overnight but wrote off another $8bn in 4Q on top of the $6bn in 3Q on the Gillette brand in terms of goodwill and intangibles. Of course management brushed this off as significant devaluations over a decade, lower shaving frequency and new entrants at prices lower than the average. Nothing to do with the toxic masculinity campaign 6 months ago? Get real.

Under grooming, most of the results performance came through the sale of real estate in Boston. Other than that the company reported unfavorable channel mix, volume declines, brand communication investments and currency headwinds. The CFO Jon Moeller said with respect to Gillette,

You’ve got here a business with a very broad global footprint, and particularly with the year that we have just been through, that impacts that value assessment,”

Sorry, what does that even mean? No surprises that grooming was the worst performing division in P&G’s quiver.

Get woke, go broke.
