Instead of quelling the riots, Portland’s mayor will simply move house

One would think after almost 100 days of consecutive protests that the radical left mayor of Portland, Ted Wheeler, might eventually do something to quell the unrest, violence and murder on his streets.

One might have thought he had worked out back in July that joining the rioters in solidarity only resulted in them heckling and eventually ejecting him. Fail.

When the rioting eventually came to his house this week, that wasn’t a trigger to pull the plug on the destruction. Instead, he will move house. In an email to the other residents of his 114-unit high rise, the mayor expressed his “sincere apologies for the damage to our home and the fear that you are experiencing due to my position…It’s unfair to all of you who have no role in politics or in my administration.

Does he not think that all he will end up doing is transfer the problem to his new neighbours?

When Trump offered Wheeler federal aid (aka  National Guard), the mayor wrote this open letter.

Dear President Trump:

Yet again, you said you offered to aid Portland by sending in federal law enforcement to our city.

On behalf of the City of Portland: No thanks.

We don’t need your politics of division and demagoguery. Portlanders are onto you. We have already seen your reckless disregard for human life in your bumbling response to the COVID pandemic. And we know you’ve reached the conclusion that images of violence or vandalism are your only ticket to reelection.

There is no place for looting, arson, or vandalism in our city. There is no room here for racist violence or those who wish to bring their ideology of hate into our community. Those who commit criminal acts will be apprehended and prosecuted under the law.

Tens of thousands of Portlanders have peacefully protested and marched for the noble cause of fixing our broken criminal justice system. They are part of the proud progressive tradition of Portlanders fighting for justice – from racial justice to economic justice to environmental justice.

When you sent the Feds to Portland last month, you made the situation far worse. Your offer to repeat that disaster is a cynical attempt to stoke fear and distract us from the real work of our city.

In Portland, we are focused on coming together as a community to solve the serious challenges we face due to systemic racism, a global pandemic and an economic recession.

Stay away, please.

Signed,

Ted Wheeler
Mayor of Portland

As was the hangover this morning, everything is Trump’s fault. Perhaps Wheeler and Oregon Gov Kate Brown might reflect on the response of local law enforcement as to which branch of government has a clue what to do in order to end the civil unrest. That is right. Instead of looking after his constituents, succumbing to Trump Derangement Syndrome was the better option.

Trump’s tweet, “The big backlash going on in Portland cannot be unexpected after 95 days of watching and incompetent Mayor admits that he has no idea what he is doing. The people of Portland won’t put up with no safety any longer. The Mayor is a FOOL. Bring in the National Guard!” was on the money.

Trump also retweeted this criticism of Wheeler: “the useless f**king idiot and comic relief that gets everyone killed in every disaster movie,” adding “Tone down the language, but TRUE!”

Perhaps Mayor Wheeler might heed the words of Winston Churchill:

“An appeaser is one who feeds his friends to a crocodile in the hope it eats him last.”

Portland Prosecutor’s clown show

Who knew? Days after Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (Democrat) admitted peaceful protestors who tried to burn buildings with people inside were “committing murder“, his District Attorney Mike Schmidt said that most rioters wouldn’t be prosecuted.

Fear not, there is good reason for that. The newly elected DA is an avowed SJW who has been endorsed by Black Lives Matter co-founder Shaun “Talcom X” King’s political action committee, Real Justice PAC. Its goals include the ending of cash bail, the opening of prisons, and the defunding of police. What could possibly go wrong?

The list of crimes which wouldn’t cause charges to be laid includes:

• interfering with a police officer

• disorderly conduct

• criminal trespass

• harassment

• escape in the 3rd degree

• riot (sometimes in some circumstances)

All forgiven and forgotten.

Never mind that 500 arrested. Why so lenient? It was the “police” that caused rioters to react because they used tear gas or other crowd-control measures causing rioters to “instinctively lash out.

We wonder how the conversations between insurance companies and local businesses will go down when criminals will be slapped on the wrist with a feather duster.

What a joke! Add this to the other activists pretending to be impartial. We wrote about that here.

Chicago & Portland Mayors finally agree Trump was right all along

Chicago’s Magnificent Mile was ransacked by looters. City officials ended up raising bridges across the river to prevent further rioters entering the CBD, albeit too late. Similar actions occurred during BLM protests several months ago.

Luxury goods stores were the main target. Chicago police exchanged gunfire with looters and arrested more than 100 people.

Most interesting were the comments made by Superintendent of Police David O’Neil Brown, who said that the CPD is being forced to release criminals who only become emboldened to double down and commit further crimes without consequence.

Brown said, “This was not an organized protest. Rather this was an incident of pure criminality…As of now, Chicago police have made more than 100 arrests for looting, disorderly conduct, battery against police, among other charges. A total of 13 officers have been injured throughout the night, including a sergeant who was struck with a bottle. Another officer had his nose broken as he fought with a group of looters…Criminals took to the streets with confidence that there’ll be no consequences for their actions. Let me say that again, criminals took to the street with the confidence that there would be no consequences for their actions and I, for one, refuse to allow these cowardly acts to hold our city hostage.”

Mayor Lori Lightfoot moved away from her traditional “everything is under control” narrative to confess, “These individuals engaged with it can only be described as brazen and extensive criminal looting and destruction. To be clear, this had nothing to do with legitimate protected first amendment expression.

What a surprise? When she gave carte blanche to criminals and rioters under the guise of peaceful protestors, what did she expect? Now she is seeking to do the exact thing Trump was demanding of her. Get tough.

How the tide is turning. Only days ago, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) finally admonished the mob he had openly protested with by stating,  “When you commit arson with an accelerant in an attempt to burn down a building that is occupied by people who you have intentionally trapped inside, you are not demonstrating, you are attempting to commit murder.” He also added “Don’t think for a moment that you are, if you are participating in this activity, you are not being a prop for the reelection campaign of Donald Trump — because you absolutely are…You are creating the b-roll film that will be used in ads nationally to help Donald Trump during this campaign. If you don’t want to be part of that, then don’t show up.

Who knew that one way to get peace in a city is to tell rioters their actions are helping the very man they want to be removed from office?

Who would have guessed gun crime would get out of control?

Surely those bright spark Democrat mayors in NYC, Chicago, Portland and Minnesota can work out that defunding the police might cause a spike in crime and gun violence? That curtailing what actions are at the disposal of the police would hand these cities over to the criminals.

There have been 777 shootings in NYC in 2020, one more than the 776 that took place in 2019.

Murders in Chicago more than doubled compared to the same month last year, according to the Chicago PD. In 2020 there have been 430 homicides. In July, murders are up 139%YoY.

In Minnesota, gun violence is up 72%YoY. Mayor Jacob Frey said., “Year-to-date this has been a higher shooting victim total than the last five years, with 288 victims. The next closest is 2016 with 178.

In Portland gun violence is up 4-fold. From July 1-13 there have been 42 shootings vs 11 in the same period last year.

And guess what, NY State Governor Andrew Cuomo has admitted concern that wealthy taxpayers could leave NY for good.

Roadway Moving President Ross Sapir has said his company has experienced its busiest season ever since it was founded. United Van Lines CEO Marc Rogers also said over 60% of those leaving NY are earning north of $100,000.

Tax collections have plummeted during coronavirus, falling 42% in June. Losing the wealthy for good could leave gaping holes in the budget. Cuomo might argue they left over COVID-19 but soaring gun crime is hardly an inducement to return after the pandemic passes.

Still, these Dems keep assuring us, “we’ve got this under control.”

The truth about Portland

Ami Horowitz hit the streets in Portland to interview the “peaceful” protestors who were, as ABC so eloquently put, “intensified.”

Amazing how few blacks appear to be protesting under the banner of black lives matter which ought to tell us something. Still, those peacefully pushing for change used choice words such as

– violence

– burn it down

– looting

One of the interesting parts of his short clip is around the 3 minute mark where an irate gentleman correctly points out that most of the fools rioting aren’t even black. As we often point out, it’s only social justice warriors who preach to us what needs to be done without consulting the very groups impacted.

We didn’t start the fire

Portland City Commissioner Jo Ann Hardesty turned on the Portland Police blaming its officers for sending in saboteurs to start fires and then falsely accuse peaceful protestors of arson. She has since walked back those remarks justifying it as,

Today I let my emotions get the most of me during council and the comment I made to the press. But I’m angry, frustrated, and horrified by what has happened these past 50 days.”

Isn’t it amazing that absolutely no footage has surfaced of such crimes being committed? Especially in a world where everyone is a roving reporter. Portland Police have even invited council members to join them on the front lines to see for themselves. None have taken up the offer.

Hardesty switched her accusation to Democrat Mayor Ted Wheeler for his spineless inaction to prevent federal government officers targeting Portland because it is a sanctuary city.

How do these people get elected? As Daryl Turner, president of the Portland Police Association said,

Politicians bent on power, perpetuating misinformation and untruths, are just as guilty of using their privilege to hijack this movement as the rioters who are committing violent acts, burning, and looting,”

You’ll never guess the party affiliation of Hardesty!

Portland Mayor & Oregon House Rep’s response on having it all under control

Dan Bongino spoke of just how embarrassing Democrat Mayor Ted Wheeler’s response has been in his attempts to stop crime in Portland, Oregon. It was followed up by an even more pathetic explanation by Oregon House Rep Earl Blumenauer.

Are these people for real to think they have it ‘all under control’?
