The things we do for ESG inclusion

You know, whenever we encounter racism, sexism or homophobia, the very first thing that pops into our head to lead that fight is Halliburton. The things companies will do to boost their ESG/SRI and CSR scores.

If Halliburton feels so strongly about it, perhaps they should cease all dealings with those Middle Eastern countries where homosexuality carries the death penalty. We are confident the shareholders will approve giving up 28% of revenue. Although to be fair, Halliburton did specify there is no place for it at Halliburton or America. Anywhere else must be acceptable.

The hypocrisy. What next? A commitment to go carbon neutral?

1974 or 1984? To drown or be drowned?

The culture wars. Two films. One film drowning in free speech. The other drowning out free speech.

While the woke cancel culture mob is out there trying to turn the world into a modernized version oft George Orwell’s ‘1984‘ perhaps they need to watch the 1974 classic ‘Blazing Saddles‘ instead.

The Mel Brooks’ film was full of shockingly overt racist and sexist stereotypes. That was the whole point. The aim was to take these social issues to their extremities and poke fun at the stupidity of them. Simple but effective.

As one of the most talented comedians of his time, Richard Pryor was responsible for writing many parts of the script for Brooks. Not that it matters but Pryor was black.

Blazing Saddles was made 46 years ago and was an icon of its time. It is probably more representative about how society frowned on racism and sexism back then. For if it didn’t, those jokes would not have resonated at all. To suggest that we aren’t even further progressed as a society in 2020 is insane.

The irony is the apparatchiks of the radical left want to embrace all of the racism and sexism they proclaim to reject.

Perhaps they should watch Blazing Saddles and get a grip instead of channeling Richard Burton and turning society into subjugated masses of Winstons and Julias.

Media runs the ‘sexist’ narrative but in their derangement miss the ‘racist’ one

So typical of the mainstream media. The White House press corps show very little respect for the office. While admittedly Trump can act in an unpresidential fashion at times, it doesn’t condone the media talking over him when he is trying to respond. CBS News’ Weijia Jiang kept interrupting his answer and he called her out on not knowing her topic other than the narrative she wanted to employ.

So typical of the media to play the ‘sexism’ card but we were surprised they didn’t try to drag in the ‘racism’ card due to her ethnicity. The truth is that other reporters, regardless of their genitalia, get roasted on a daily basis. His most frequent whipping boy is Jim Acosta from CNN. Can we get some perspective?

Here are the headlines from the media in response to the Jiang clip:

“‘Keep your voice down’: Trump has another confrontation with a reporter at coronavirus briefing”USA Today

With no good response for his lost month of coronavirus preparation, Trump snaps at another female reporter” – Washington Post

How Dare You” – CNN’s John King

Dana Bash calls out Trump’s treatment of female reporters” – CNN

“’Keep your voice down’: Trump berates female reporter when questioned over Covid-19 response” – The Guardian

‘Just relax’: Trump repeatedly tells female reporter to keep her voice down during coronavirus briefing” – The Independent

It goes on and on.

Is it too hard to work out why trust in the media is at all-time lows? Just as Bill Maher pointed out yesterday, the mainstream media are handing him the election on a platter because they are too busy finding fault with sensationalist headlines rather than publishing news items which show that the actual outcomes are way better than the apocalyptic projections. Hospital bed capacity is well under-utilized but the media can’t help but quote North Hollywood event planners to get sensationalist headlines. Truly pathetic.

As Napoleon once said, “never interrupt an enemy when he is making mistakes.” For years we have been saying the best way to suck the wind out of Trump’s sails is to stop reporting about him. Yet all they end up doing is giving him 24-7 coverage for free. Who needs Bloomberg’s millions for advertising? The mainstream media are so stupid they don’t even know they are being punked. After 4 years they still haven’t learned. If a ‘p*ssy grabber‘ can get elected with that comment on the ticket, it sort of says that the public isn’t looking to him for tips on moral redemption.

Those bloody racist Aussies

Aussies. We love backing underdogs and relish in self-deprecating humour. Being put down in Australian culture is generally regarded as a compliment. Yet when we see bad behaviour, Aussies generally have no issues calling it as they see it.

We care little if we offend those perpetrating crimes. Take our national cricket team where several members were caught cheating in Sth Africa. The backlash was immense. We’d rather lose than cheat as a nation although it maybe the only solution left to wrest back the Bledisloe Cup from the All Blacks after 16 years…..

Of course the satire of Mark Knight’s cartoon about Serena Williams’ temper tantrum got the activists riled up over supposed racist overtones. How quickly CBS made reference to a “white” cartoonist. If he’d been black and drawn the identical cartoon, would that have made it better? Why no complaints at all the other caricatures of Williams? That’s right – not a peep.

That’s how the victim industry operates – find a narrative and then build concocted evidence to support it. Certain people might owe Knight a debt of gratitude.

Take this example. Author Leslie Honore   gladly used the viral nature of the cartoon to overtly plug her own book. This technically dilutes the nature of supposedly being 100% for the sisterhood in Serena’s corner, does it not? Makes for a great marketing tool though!! Surprised the author didn’t offer a free set of steak knives if bought within 20 minutes. True colours indeed.

As for Aussies being racist, what will be evident when Naomi Osaka walks on court at the Australian Open in Round 1 is that everyone will cheer her. Not to apologise for the cartoon’s supposed misportrayal of her looks nor to make up for the appalling crowd display in New York but to honour a true bonafide sportswoman. We love everything about her. How could we not?

In all of the controversy surrounding the US Open final Naomi Osaka has oozed class with her sweet, bubbly but calm demeanor. Instead of apparatchiks demanding an open apology to Serena for sexism, equality and racism not once did any of them think to mention Osaka’s restraint or authenticity throughout the “me, me, me” nature of the saga. It was all about the champ! Williams’ prior tantrums were conveniently forgotten. Don’t forget Serena openly threatened Umpire Ramos that the thief would never be allowed again on ‘her court!’ So in that vein, Osaka was not an equal. She was privileged to stand across the net from the Queen.

Sure the racquet smasher with a coach who openly admitted he cheated is worthy of an apology. We should be proud to have the morals of such a role model drummed into kids. If little Johnny or Veronica don’t throw tantrums while representing their school we should put them straight in front of the counselor to work out why they haven’t been triggered. Don’t even start with the 9-yo brat refusing to stand for the Australian national anthem. Thanks Kaep!

If we judge the 23 grand slams and 10s of millions every year in endorsements and prize money for Serena , the global tennis apparatus has done a dismal job trying to beat her into submission if that is truly the claim. She’s got away with murder with her antics for years.

Throughout all Nike must have minted her name over the years as all these racists lined up to buy her clothes. Surprised the loonies haven’t called for cultural appropriation of white kids who wear Serena branded tennis clothing.

Maybe the lesson for Williams here is that playing against someone almost half her age that can blast 200km/h serves can teach her a thing or two about being a truly great champ in all aspects.

Poor old Naomi Osaka must be thinking the woman she once idolized is nothing like the person on the TV she thought she knew. Don’t worry Naomi, we wouldn’t want you to change anything about you!

Even if you don’t end up breaking all the records what better advocate for the game of tennis to have you as a global ambassador than a dummy spitting, venomous prima donna failing to cope with being dethroned. May there be many more kids who aspire to your level of maturity.

As an Aussie, CM speaks on behalf of many here who would openly say “we love you”. You can’t get here soon enough!

Really?

Really? Does Newsweek honestly believe that 59% of Republicans don’t want a woman president in their lifetime? Could it be GOP supporters don’t want to see a woman made president solely on the basis of gender? Is that irrational?

It is highly conceivable that many Republicans would back someone like US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, if she ever runs given her strength and purpose, regardless of how appalled Democrats might be. Even worse, the Democrats would die a thousand deaths knowing her Native American/Sikh background would singlehandedly outflank almost any identity driven political candidates the DNC could field itself.  To be thrashed at its own game when the opposition party doesn’t even know the rules. The irony!

However Newsweek would not be budged going straight down the line of how poor old Hillary Clinton was the innocent victim of rampant sexism. Aren’t Republicans bigger racists than sexists?

Newsweek’s Tim Marchin wrote,

Clinton’s candidacy was, of course, a big moment for women in U.S. politics. No other woman has ever earned the nomination of one of the major parties. After her loss in the election—to a man accused by multiple women of sexual misconduct—2017 became a year that was, in many ways, defined by women leaders…Millions of people took to the streets across the world in the Women’s March shortly after Trump’s inauguration. More recently, the #MeToo movement has helped shed light on just how many women have suffered from harassment, discrimination and assault. The movement has also revealed accusations against a number of men in positions of power.”

Marchin would have been far better off  conceding that Clinton’s campaign of identity politics (Obama 2.0) was on the ballot paper. It wasn’t wanted. The electorate preferred to place a serial p*ssy grabbing silver back with an agenda that better suited their needs.

Marchin might have reflected that Clinton ran her campaign like a coronation rather than a democratic election and deplorables voted for the guy who actually made the effort to see them. He may have pondered that even having an advantage of getting the questions before hand (aka cheating) saw her lose. To have her husband randomly meet the Attorney General on an airport tarmac days before the FBI testimony. Mere coincidence and who wouldn’t talk about the grandkids? It had nothing to do with her gender. It had nothing to do with those darned white women controlled by their red-necked husbands on voting day. She was an awful candidate.

More shameless clickbait journalism which tries to shame Republicans with a gotcha question bound to have wide interpretation. Here’s an idea for the Democrats – run a better candidate.
