Have black students demanded this?

A petition started by students at the University of Washington – which demands faculty staff mark black students more leniently – has gathered 26,000 signatures. Worse, the university believes it’s a good idea.

Nicole McNichols, UW Psychology Professor said, “Obviously, I support the petition and absolutely believe the accommodations it requests should be honored by all faculty. Students need all of the support and compassion we can afford to give them right now.”

What about Hispanic students? Don’t other minorities have a claim for leniency too? What about black trans students with disabilities? Should they get more marks?

If the students that signed up to the petition truly want to make it fair, perhaps the white students should agree to be marked down with a white privilege adjustment to atone for the sins of those they aren’t related to who may have committed crimes before they were born.

Ultimately, if these liberally minded students truly wish to stop discrimination, why demand a policy that actively encourages it? If they wish to stop systemic racism how does such segregationist policies help?

In closing, how many black students have demanded this? Were many consulted? We wouldn’t be surprised if many black students get frustrated at the basic tenet that these white liberal kids think without an artificial boost they can’t succeed on their own merits. That is about as condescending as it gets!

This is the perfect argument for why universities should be free. Absolutely no lessons about real life are being taught.

Rant over.

CAREN Act introduced in San Francisco to stop racist 911 calls

Making fake 911 calls is against the law. The Caution Against Racially Exploitative Non-Emergencies (CAREN) Act has been introduced in San Francisco to stop racially motivated 911 calls.

CAREN was chosen after the name “Karen” which has entered the lexicon to describe white women who engage in racist behavior.

We have a few questions:

Who will determine what defines an emergency before and after the event?

Will callers be required to state their race and that of the supposed perpetrator(s)?

Will 911 dispatch read them a disclaimer on whether they’d like to cancel their request as burglars enter their home?

What body will ensure there is a fair assessment of the call and will activists form any part of the decision making body?Recent history shows many Democrat DAs showing political bias.

Will the City of San Francisco publish data on the racial profile of who gets charged under the CAREN Act?

Will the legislation apply equally across all races?

Maybe California State Assembly Member Rob Bonta can clear that up. He said, “This bill could protect millions of Californians from becoming targets of hate and prevent the weaponization of our law enforcement against communities of colour,

So if a person of colour channels Jussie Smollett and makes a hoax 911 call on white people will they be exempt under the CAREN Act?

Perhaps the San Francisco Board of Supervisors should have listened to the 911 recording of a white mother and her child kettled by BLM protestors as they walked on her car? Would that be racially motivated?

Lawmakers in California, New York, Oregon and Washington have introduced similar bills. Guess what? All states run by the party of segregation – The Democratic Party.

You have to wonder how they aim to end racism with new laws which define segregation in application.

Segregated in Seattle

This is truly sick. How much more of this racial segregation malarkey can Americans tolerate? What are we on about?

The City of Seattle’s Office of Civil Rights sent an email last month inviting “white City employees” to attend a training session on “Interrupting Internalized Racial Superiority and Whiteness.

Christopher Rufo wrote an article in the City Journal after he received the training pack under a freedom of information request. His piece can be found here.

Rufo notes, “trainers explain that white people have internalized a sense of racial superiority, which has made them unable to access their “humanity” and caused “harm and violence” to people of color.

Once the diversity trainers have established this basic conceptual framework, they encourage white employees to “practice self-talk that affirms [their] complicity in racism” and work on “undoing [their] own whiteness.” As part of this process, white employees must abandon their “white normative behavior” and learn to let go of their “comfort,” “physical safety,” “social status,” and “relationships with some other white people.”

This insanity is off the charts. We’re surprised rats in face cages aren’t part of the process.

It isn’t the first time this type of brainwashing has hit Seattle. Starbucks also indulged in this Marxist rubbish two years ago after a store called the police on two non paying customers who refused to leave that just happened to be people of colour.

We wrote,

Starbucks closed 8,000 stores on Tuesday and reached out to activists and bias training experts to put a curriculum together for its 175,000 workers to prevent “unconscious bias

…While training staff is never a bad thing, do the human resources/ PR department at Starbucks honestly think that explicitly educating white people about their racism (if it truly exists on any scale to warrant the conscious bias based indoctrination) will do anything other than alienate more customers? What a smear on the majority of clientele and staff who no doubt exercise decency when transacting their skim milk doubleshot latte.”

These diversity trainers are absolutely the last people qualified to dictate to others about society.

Note Seattle has been Democrat for the last 30 years. Mayor Jenny Durkan was the one who called CHAZ a “summer of loveuntil it threatened her $7m mansion.

BLM Toronto leader calls white skin “sub-human” and white people “genetic defects”

Good to see the Marxist and racist colours of the Black Lives Matter movement come shining through yet again courtesy of the head of the Toronto chapter, Yusra Khogali. To think of all those who blindly fall into line without questioning its sinister manifesto.

Khogali was proud to post on social media that:

White skin is sub-humxn”

“White ppl are a genetic defect of blackness”

“White ppl are recessive genetic defects. This is factual. “

“White ppl need white supremacy as a mechanism to protect their survival as a people because all they can do is produce themselves…black people through their superior genes can literally wipe out the white race if we had the power to.”

We could go on but we hope readers get the point. These are hardly the words of someone who seeks equality, justice and an end to systemic racism.

Can you imagine if a white person said the same things? Those people would be doxxed, fired, cancelled and arrested for hate crimes. What did the city of Toronto do after she wrote this nonsense? Bestowed her with an exemplary leadership award.

So the next time someone sheepishly takes a knee for the Black Lives Matter organization, at least know what the group is about. Police brutality is a front for the real agenda it espouses which is all about dismantling family values and adopting a Marxist mantra. Even worse, kids are already being indoctrinated in high schools in the NY State area.

Tribalism is the only outcome of all this identity politics and will achieve the exact opposite of what so many liberals demand.

NFL turning the playing field into a political football

The NFL is making all the missteps to destroy the franchise. It thinks that introducing segregation will solve for racism.

The NFL is planning to play “Lift Ev’ry Voice And Sing,” dubbed the “Black national anthem,” ahead of “Star Spangled Banner‘ before all Week 1 games. Watch this become ahead of every game.

Why don’t Hispanics or other minorities that were victims of police brutality get their anthem played too? What about the trans community? Are they any less worthy?

According to ESPN, the NFL is also considering “listing the names of victims on uniforms through decals on helmets or patches on jerseys” and will likely “produce educational programs about the victims.”

What if some of those victims were armed and shooting at police? Will they be honoured? Will their true histories be taught or airbrushed as defenseless martyrs?

Before the NFL starts virtue signaling how “with the times” it is, do fans want to be lectured to by a league where 713 different players between 2000-2014 have been arrested for the following shocking list of charges – rape, murders, shootings, animal cruelty, prostitution rings, assault, robbery, illegal gun possession, DUI and resisting arrest.

Maybe list the names of those 713 players on uniforms for their crimes first.

There isn’t a soul on the planet who isn’t aware of what is going on. For the overwhelming majority of those who condemn racism, why do the left think drumming ever more sanctimonious activism is necessary? If the belief is such tokenism will swing racists, this identity politics based tribalism will force the exact opposite outcome of that intended. Shaming doesn’t work, especially if wrapped in hypocrisy.

Demanding segregation at a university which scores high on diversity

us-news-2020-engineering.jpg | Rice Engineering | Rice University

Rice University (RU) administrators are being asked to establish a racially segregated non-residential Black House specifically made for Black students and Black organizations to congregate and hold events as a way to overcome “systemic oppression and inequity.” Only Black students would have access to this building.

The group has also demanded:

  • the removal of a statue William Marsh Rice, which the university was named after because he was a slave owner.
  • comprehensive decolonization of the curriculum with mandatory lessons for all students on systemic racial inequity that is built into our global and local society and how it affects Black people today.
  • an increase in Black chefs, tenured professors, as well as other members of the Rice community. Representation plays a key role in increasing the well-being of Black students on campus.
  • That RU cuts ties with Houston PD and decrease RUPD presence on campus
with the goal of complete abolition. i.e. defund the police.
  • to allow black students to select their roommates based on race.
  • Other demands are included in this link.

We were a bit surprised that these race activists couldn’t spell “Ku Klux Klan” properly (at the bottom of page 2).

The two most interesting statements were:

  • This list is neither comprehensive nor does it speak for all Black students as a single, unified group…Neither did we collect names of Black students who gave suggestions, nor did we list the names of those we are aware of who “adamantly support” some of these items.

If they wish to make such demands, surely a plurality of black students would make a stronger case for those changes to be accommodated or at the very least considered (which RU is already doing). With little data to work with to gauge the extent of the problem, should RU blindly make investments based purely on identity which would undoubtedly come at the expense of some other areas which were benefitting the majority of students?

  • “This list is not littered with quantitative data or studies of peer institutions. Rather, we decided to use this moment in history to give a social statement.

Since the students freely admit that they haven’t done the homework, we decided to do it for them. Luckily for RU, they are well ahead of the pack and have grounds for congratulation, not censure.

First, College Factual (CF) notes that RU scores well above average for diversity in gender, ethnicity and geographic location. CF ranks RU a Top 5% university for diversity.

Diversity

Second, the enrolled student population at Rice University is as follows. Whites are the largest cohort but not the majority:

Undergrad

Third, the faculty staff at Rice University is as follows:

faculty

In short, white faculty staff are the majority but lower than their population cohort. Compare this to around 80% in high schools in America.

According to the 2017 data, in terms of graduation rates at RU, black females complete their degrees (95.3% vs 88.9% in 2012) at a higher level than whites (94% vs 92.1% in 2012). Hispanic women have a graduation rate of 97% (vs 94.5% in 2012) and Asian women 98.9% (vs 97.9% in 2012). Native Americans had a 100% pass rate. No evidence of racial profiling by teachers.

For men in 2017, in terms of graduation rates at RU, black males complete their degrees (76.9% vs 84.2% in 2012) at a lower level than whites (89.8% vs 90.4% in 2012). Hispanic men have a graduation rate of 86.7% (vs 90.9% in 2012) and Asian men 91.8% (vs 95.7% in 2012). Why have men across all cohorts seen a lower level of pass rates?

There is little evidence that systemic racism is working against students of colour. If the students are triggered by the university’s history, removing a statue won’t change the fact that it was founded by a slave owner. No doubt these students picked RU for its curriculum and the opportunities that will flow from that, which clearly in their minds supersede its past to study there.

In summary, it is concerning to see more of this tribalism be pushed in society, especially when the evidence is so inconclusive.  The biggest lesson these kids need to learn that merit, hard work and learning from history are far more important skillsets in the real world than lodging complaints that the equal treatment the institution appears to be showing is somehow discriminatory and that only special treatment will fix it.

Cambridge Professor wants to abolish whiteness

It used to be a source of pride to say one graduated from Cambridge University.

Cambridge University’s Churchill College Professor Priyamvada Gopal’s used Twitter to say “White Lives Don’t Matter” and “abolish whiteness.

Gopal’s areas of study include gender and feminism, Marxism, critical race studies, and the politics and cultures of empire and globalization.

How does the dean tolerate the divisive radical professor?

We don’t have a problem with her free speech because her words speak for themselves. We question why the university tolerates faculty staff who bring the reputation of a prized tertiary institution into disrepute?

Even worse, she doubled down

One thing about white racists, the ones who are emailing & tweeting about my losing my job. It REALLY gets up their nose that Cambridge–which they see as theirs, their Properly White Institution–has me in its teaching ranks. Deeply triggering.

No, they care about the legacy of the institution. The university should seek to protect it regardless of the identity of the individual who made such thoughtless comments.

We shouldn’t be surprised at the deterioration in education standards. Who could forget the Stanford law professor, Pamela Karlan, who said during her testimony at the impeachment hearings that she crossed the street so she didn’t have to walk in front of Trump buildings.

When the left demand free education, we finally understand. If this is the standard, why drop a fortune on something that increasingly has no value?

Cambridge University’s reaction will be telling.
