Media imbalance at its finest

MSNBC presenter Nicolle Wallace is a stranger to balance and perspective. Recently she said the coronavirus had a silver lining because it could cost Trump in November.

Wind back 2 years and she was happy that an economic recession was imminent to damage his chances for re-election.

As we’ve often said of the mainstream media. Journalistic integrity will only return when they love America more than they hate Trump.

MSNBC producer quits over toxic editorial process

Former MSNBC producer Ariana Pekary has written an open letter describing the toxic work environment much like Bari Weiss notes at The NY Times.

Pekary wrote,

July 24th was my last day at MSNBC. I don’t know what I’m going to do next exactly but I simply couldn’t stay there anymore…My colleagues are very smart people with good intentions. The problem is the job itself. It forces skilled journalists to make bad decisions on a daily basis

You may not watch MSNBC but just know that this problem still affects you, too. All the commercial networks function the same – and no doubt that content seeps into your social media feed, one way or the other...

….Likewise, it’s taboo to discuss how the ratings scheme distorts content, or it’s simply taken for granted, because everyone in the commercial broadcast news industry is doing the exact same thing…

…But behind closed doors, industry leaders will admit the damage that’s being done…

The model blocks diversity of thought and content because the networks have incentive to amplify fringe voices and events, at the expense of others… all because it pumps up the ratings…This cancer risks human lives, even in the middle of a pandemic...this cancer risks our democracy…context and factual data are often considered too cumbersome for the audience…

Why is this a surprise? As we’ve said for ages, clickbait is all that matters. It doesn’t matter who is besmirched, smeared or has their career ended, as long as it sells advertising.

Kayleigh McEnany helps deranged WH press corps to do their jobs properly

Trump’s new Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany is doing such a great job with the White House press corps. In this video clip she turns their lack of journalistic integrity back on them by providing a list of questions to pique their curiosity about #Obamagate instead of letting them indulge in their favorite pastime of creating false narratives.

Media bias, fake news & censorship

We have argued for some time that media bias is a large problem. The GDELT Project conducts research which outlines the number of times that certain topics are mentioned by the major TV networks. Left or right-wing media, we can be assured that it is not the principle that matters, but the side.

Take the Brett Kavanaugh sexual assault allegations before his confirmation. CNN mentioned his name over 15,000 times, mostly in the negative. Fox News talked of him some 24,000 times, mostly in the positive.

Despite the more credible evidence that came out with respect to Epstein (surrounding Prince Andrew) and Weinstein we saw these networks devoted mere fractions of the attention vs Kavanaugh. 18% to be precise.

So now that sexual assault allegations have come out with respect to presidential candidate Joe Biden, we can see the mainstream media has all but ignored it, especially after the 1993 video resurfaced.

It doesn’t need to be the US media either. The Chinese media has a damning trend with respect to COVID19. It is a dark zone of statistics about who knew what when. This chart lists the number of “censored posts”.

Figure

The global media’s focus only got interested post-January 20th when China finally admitted the virus spread beyond its borders. The chart below documents the frequency of mentions of coronavirus, SARS or pneumonia.

After Trump’s Jan 31st travel ban, global media interest waned until late February when countries like Italy and Iran were experiencing logarithmic infection rates. March 12th marks the day of WHO’s declaration of a pandemic.

Figure

The media may throw shade at the relative handling by governments (especially the US) but they need only reflect on their perfect 20-20 hindsight.

Which sums up much of media today – reactive, not proactive. So much for the in-depth investigative journalism that made waves in the past, now it is all Bout chasing clickbait.

This recent article from ABC News which led with the title, ‘Maryland agency receives more than 100 disinfectant use calls‘ bears this out.

No mention of the title was contained in the written content.

A pandemic of the novel coronavirus has now killed more than 195,000 people worldwide.

Over 2.7 million people across the globe have been diagnosed with COVID-19, the disease caused by the new respiratory virus, according to data compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. The actual numbers are believed to be much higher due to testing shortages, many unreported cases and suspicions that some governments are hiding the scope of their nations’ outbreaks.

Since the first cases were detected in China in December, the United States has become the worst-affected country, with more than 890,000 diagnosed cases and at least 51,017 deaths.

Tune into ABC at 1 p.m. ET and ABC News Live at 4 p.m. ET every weekday for special coverage of the novel coronavirus with the full ABC News team, including the latest news, context and analysis.

The video content made no mention of the title either. But hey, why would anyone wish to link the content to the sensationalist headline?

Shameless.

Bill Maher bashes MSM for ‘panic porn’ obsession surrounding COVID19

Liberal media host Bill Maher made another sensible 5-minute video which bashes up the mainstream media for its obsession with ‘panic porn’, ridiculous alarmism and confected hysteria.

Maher’s best line was to call out The NY Times for using a North Hollywood event planner to get a quote for a headline which described unemployment as “terrifying.”

Debunking liberal funking

An interesting dialogue between liberal media host Bill Maher and Republican congressman, Rep Dan Crenshaw.

It is refreshing to see such a civil dialogue when context and perspective are provided around mainstream media narratives.

One interesting tidbit for FNF Media was why Nancy Pelosi delayed bringing the vote on a $2.5bn supplemental bill to support the CDC, NIH and FDA to help combat the virus to the floor by a week? Instead, she put forward legislation on whether to ban flavoured tobacco. Priorities.

It is a worthwhile 15 minutes.

Mainstream Media skools itself

This is what happens when the mainstream media are too busy heaping on capitalism to bother to double-check the calculations from a tweet uploaded by a fashion news writer. In true socialist fashion, the mainstream media are all happy to push a narrative that it is ok to reap the spoils of someone else’s hard work.

At the very least, well played to the original tweeter Mekita Rivas to troll herself with,

I know, I’m bad at math.

Trump was the people’s handgrenade. They never expected the Dems to pull the pin

Two interesting videos which expose the despicable nature of this impeachment trial.

One video is the mainstream media saying Ambassador Sondland tied Trump to a quid pro quo. As he clearly states he only “presumed” and that absolutely nobody told him. Hearsay is being counted as good as real evidence. Schiff has been so crooked during this trial claiming he didn’t know the whistleblower’s identity but shutting down Lt Col Vandiman to prevent him from saying his name.

The second is the way the Dems have shifted the narrative from quid pro quo to bribery. In the 3,500 pages of sworn testimony the word is mentioned once and not referring to Trump but toward allegations about Joe Biden. Amusing that a mainstream media poll discovered that “bribery” was the biggest catch word that would justify an impeachment so Trump Derangement Syndrome has got the better of the Democrats and the impeachment is now shifted towards bribery allegations.

Regardless of the evidence, Democrats will vote for impeachment. The Senate will reject it and this will be a show trial with no benefit to anyone other than to expose the lengths the Dems will go to pull down a sitting president. A waste of time and money which if anything has exposed how much corruption was in the prior administration to have a former Ambassador to Ukraine testify she had been pre-prepped by the State Department to know how to handle questions on Hunter Biden’s involvement at Burisma, clearly understanding the massive conflict of interest. Yet no other companies in the Ukraine required such preparation. Hmmmm.

Say, has anyone heard any stories on Joe Biden lately? Mysteriously absent.

This is not lost on the American people, as much as they weren’t fooled by Bill Clinton’s chance meeting on an airport tarmac with then AG Loretta Lynch, a few days before her testimony answering questions about his wife. Grandkids and golf is all they spoke about apparently.

Yeah, right.

TDS is a mental health issue. The Democrats have spent his entire presidency trying to pin anything on him they can – Russia, Ukraine, Stormy Daniels etc etc. As vulgar and unorthodox as his methods may be, the results are way better than anyone predicted. Most Americans who voted for him weren’t seeking his advice on morals and behaviour. He was there so the left behind could lob a handgrenade into decades of political incompetence, which apparently is all his fault, not career politicians.

The irony is that the Democrats have pulled the pin on themselves and done no favour a for re-election in 2020. If he wins they know they’re the ones he is coming after. That petrifies them.
