More lefty lunacy over SCOTUS nominee

These people have absolutely no shame.

Largest Newspaper in Minnesota Endorses Ilhan Omar’s Primary Challenger

You have to hand it to the radical left of the Democrat Party. Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar said that America’s economic and political systems must be “dismantled.”

What a way to show Americans a sense of deep gratitude for not only rescuing the Somali born asylum seeker from a refugee camp in Kenya but having a system that allowed her to be elected to the highest level of government in that same country.

Not so fast. Even in the woke state of Minnesota, the Star-Tribune – the state’s largest paper – has endorsed Antone Melton-Meaux, a primary challenger to Omar. The paper’s editorial noted,

“Melton-Meaux brings a different sensibility to this race, one grounded in helping resolve disputes to move forward — a skill this country is much in need of. Whether it’s health care, criminal justice or affordable housing, Melton-Meaux appears progressive, but pragmatic. While Omar wants to lead a movement, Melton-Meaux seeks to serve the Fifth District…

…Omar’s 2018 victory launched her into the national spotlight as the first Muslim woman and first refugee elected to Congress. But her time has been marred by missteps, including remarks on Israel widely regarded as anti-Semitic, an outsized number of missed votes, and campaign-finance issues. Omar has sent more than $1.6 million to her husband’s D.C. political consulting firm, E Street Group, and is herself the target of a Federal Election Commission complaint regarding travel expenses.

It is worth pointing out that Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez didn’t make the cut of Obama’s NY house seat endorsements.

The intellectually inconsistent crusade that demands bigger gov’t solutions and anarchy simultaneously

Several weeks ago we wrote about the “hijacking” of the George Floyd protests for everything but that.

mrcTV’s Brittany Hughes concurs and explains how much further the protest madness has spread in America.

Note Black Trans Lives Matter (BTLM) protests have taken place even though they had nothing to do with George Floyd or police brutality. Just black trans rights. Not all trans rights.

Never mind that protestors also defaced the statue of Matthias Baldwin by spraypainting “colonizer.” Baldwin was a slavery abolitionist who pushed for black voting rights three decades before the Civil War. In 1835, he donated money to establish a school for African-American children in Philadelphia and paid for it out of his own pocket. But hey, he was white so must have been a rabid supremacist. Easier to rub out his inconvenient history.

If only these protests had anything to do with black lives or George Floyd. So typical of the hypocrisy of the social justice movement. As Thomas Sowell said,

Activism is a way for useless people to feel important, even if the consequences of their activism are counterproductive for those they claim to be helping and damaging to the fabric of society as a whole.

Open Letter from doctors on BLM during COVID19

RacDoc

An ‘Open letter advocating for an anti-racist public health response to demonstrations against systemic injustice occurring during the COVID-19 pandemic  has been published with 1,288 cosignatories.

It is nothing more than the standard sanctimonious drivel sacrificed on the altar of political correctness served up by liberals desperate to appear chic in a cancel culture using their supposed intellectual superiority over everyone else.

The open letter lends its support to BLM during the novel coronavirus pandemic, stating that “white supremacy is a lethal public health issue that predates and contributes to COVID-19.

Naturally, we wanted to test the depth of the bench of the consignatories telling us that we “Listen, and prioritize the needs of Black people as expressed by Black voices.

Should we view an art therapist who signed as a leading light? The group of Seattle 500 Women Scientists? The transgender entry? The lawyers? The veterinary surgeons? The housing company? The Twitter follower? How about Antonia Beachem, Human? The former probation officer? The postdoctoral researcher at the Barcelona Lab for Environmental Justice and Sustainability? Meditating for Black Lives? The Washington Physicians for Social Responsibility & Radical Public Health? The priest? The pastor?

Apart from the predictable content of the virtue signaling hyperbole, what a shame only 19% of the cosignatories are actual doctors. 37% that co-signed are academics (excluding MDs that lecture), 10% are students and 28% are individuals who don’t list their profession. The rest are a hodgepodge of activist groups.

What these puritans overlook is that most can see this letter is just an expression of their chic political views, wrapped in medical opinion. When so many sign the document from other fields, it dilutes what little credibility there was to begin with.

We’ve seen this sort of thing before.

Remember 11,000 cosignatories to a non-peer reviewed paper on climate change that included Mickey Mouse and Albus Dumbledore?

Or the Feb 2020 Safe Climate Declaration which hosted 100 speakers of which less than 5% were climate scientists. Most were from academia, media and high schools.

Or the 268 cosignatories of an open letter in support of Extinction Rebellion (XR). Perhaps the most hilarious signatory to the letter was Matthew Flinders. Our esteemed explorer seemed to have navigated his way back to life after 200 years.

Or the the sanctimonious video made by the World Mental Health Coalition (WMHC) where all members co-signed the case for Trump’s lack of mental capacity. Sounds impressive using “world”, doesn’t it? Given the World Psychiatric Association represents 200,000 members worldwide, WHMC’s 37 members seems rather pathetic by comparison. Be sure to read how they were prepared to ditch their Hippocratic oath to smear Trump.

Back to this open letter. Let’s not forget the poor ethics displayed by many in the medical community – such as publishing a rushed paper and retracting it in The Lancet on hydroxychloroquine. Or the farcical behaviour of WHO and its kowtowing to China.

Perhaps we might reflect on the alarmist medical experts who lusted power with ridiculously exaggerated forecasts which have likely tanked the global economy and created a far worse outcome for all, especially the minorities they claim to defend.

We can’t wait for them to sound alarms when people attend Trump rallies and accuse them of being grossly negligent.

So in conclusion, certain members of the medical community should stay in their lane. They are entitled to free speech but using fancy letters after their name to lecture the rest of us to check our white privilege discredits them.

A closing thought. Have these MDs considered offering their medical services to the black community gratis to help them overcome centuries of institutionalized racism? Of course not.

Do Student Lives Matter?

7961F90E-A4B5-41C4-9A74-BE162478283B.png

Alongside Black Lives Matter (BLM) leaders, the United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) union demanded that the police force in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) be eliminated to stop white supremacy.

The incoming president of UTLA, Cecily Myart-Cruz stated,

We have to dismantle white supremacyWe must defund the police and bring in the mental health services that our students need.

The police union unsurprisingly pushed back noting they are there to prevent violence, act as peacemakers in school districts where gangs are prevalent

Two years ago we wrote with respect to security in schools:

A 2017 study by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) reported the following,

In the 2013–14 school year, 93% of public schools reported that they controlled access to school buildings by locking or monitoring doors during school hours. Other safety and security measures reported by public schools included the use of security cameras to monitor the school (75%), a requirement that faculty and staff wear badges or picture IDs (68%), and the enforcement of a strict dress code (58%). In addition, 24% of public schools reported the use of random dog sniffs to check for drugs, 20% required that students wear uniforms, 9% required students to wear badges or picture IDs, and 9% used random metal detector checks.

Breaking down some of the categories in the chart 5.5% of primary schools use sniffer dogs to check for drugs!! Over half of high schools have random drug searches. 9% of high schools have metal detectors.

In 1994, the federal government began requiring schools to introduce safety programs in an attempt to crack down on violence on school grounds. Many schools introduced metal detectors to check for guns, knives and other weapons. The year after the measures were introduced, violent deaths on high school campuses across the United States halved.

We also wrote a piece debunking the narrative by The New York Times that said that teachers were racially profiling kids at school when it came to discipline.

We remind our readers of a man by the name of Andrew Pollack who lost his daughter in the Parkland, Florida school shooting in 2018. He spoke of his concern of the current push by Democrats in Minneapolis and Portland to get police out of schools.

Pollack said,

My daughter Meadow was murdered in the Parkland school shooting on February 14, 2018. There was a school resource officer on duty. He was a coward and hid. Not all cops are good men. Without a real policeman on duty, the shooter had 11 minutes in a building with 800 kids all to himself…

…What you might not know is what happened before and what happened next.

The media wanted to use Parkland as an opportunity to attack President Donald Trump and advance their gun control agenda. But as I explain in my book Why Meadow Died: The People and Policies that Created the Parkland Shooter and Endanger America’s Students, the Parkland shooting wasn’t caused by the Second Amendment. It was caused by identity politics.

The Democrat-run Broward school district blamed teachers and school resource officers for racial disparities in school discipline and arrests. So they formally decriminalized misdemeanours (three freebie misdemeanours a year, re-setting every year) and informally decriminalized felonies. They also tied school resource officers’ hands and told school administrators to refuse to cooperate with local law enforcement.

The Parkland shooter committed many crimes in school: he threatened to kill, committed hate-crime assault, trespassed on school grounds after he got kicked out. No arrests. By design. No criminal record.

The school district lied to the public. They stonewalled the press. They threatened would-be whistleblowers. When Parkland parents started to learn the truth, they demanded accountability in a series of meetings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (MSD) with Broward Superintendent Robert Runcie.

Shortly after that, the Broward school district announced a public meeting. Runcie’s deputy sent an e-mail to local black church leaders telling them that the rhetoric they heard at MSD was “vile” stuff like they hadn’t heard “since desegregation orders were enforced.” It was a lie. When challenged, they provided no evidence to back their race-baiting claim.”

Sinister. However, this is what they are pushing for. Do parents really want their kids at risk? Do #StudentLivesMatter?

More double standards in the mainstream media

Two things from last week which carry on with the theme of double standards within the mainstream media. These are so unbelievable that one could be confused to think it was satire coming from the Babylon Bee.

First MSNBC has hired Lisa Page, the lover of former FBI special agent Peter Strzok as a legal analyst. Recall their SMS conversations…no bias there…

FBI report: Anti-Trump texts 'cast a cloud' over email probe

Then The New York Times, despite an invitation, couldn’t publish an opinion piece by Senator Tom Cotton which suggested military support to support law enforcement was sensible because apparently, “Running this puts Black people, including Black @nytimes staff, in danger.”

Apparently, the words of a sitting US senator were deemed more offensive, divisive and dangerous than other NYT opinion pieces from Putin, Erdogan and the Taliban they were only too pleased to publish.

Sen. Cotton said in response, “My Op-Ed doesn’t meet the New York Times’ standards…It far exceeds their standards, which are normally full of left-wing, sophomoric drivel…in the face of the woke mob of woke kids that are in their newsroom.

Never mind the MorningConsult poll which revealed 58% of voters, including a 48% plurality of Democrats who said they’d support bringing in U.S. troops to supplement city police forces amid the protests.

All the news that is fit to print? If the left didn’t have double standards, they wouldn’t have any.

Nancy Pelosi shows Americans how tough she’s doing it in lockdown

You have to hand it to how out-of-touch celebrities like James Corden and other elites are. He has a new segment called #HomeFest where he shows off how the 1% live.

Of course, it is all to make great TV although it still took the likes of Ricky Gervais slammed the pathetic optics of how tough Hollywood stars are doing at home when he said,

After this is over I never want to hear people moaning about the welfare state again, I never want to hear people moaning about nurses again. Or porters…These people are doing 14-hour shifts and not complaining. Wearing masks, and being left with sores, after risking their own health and their families’ health selflessly. But then I see someone complaining about being in a mansion with a swimming pool. And, you know, honestly, I just don’t want to hear it.

Over Easter, Corden live-streamed Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi who showed off her monstrous double fridge stuffed with gallons of ice cream while so many of her constituents are lining up at food banks or defecating on the sidewalks. While there was a segment full of leading questions laced with Trump Derangement Syndrome, it is still astonishing that Pelosi conveniently forgets her own actions amidst the crisis.

We get that late shows are supposed to have entertainment elements to them. Still one has to question the judgment of Pelosi to resort to such antics in the middle of a crisis. The freezer is a perfect metaphor given her constant obfuscation around approving rescue packages to help the government save the very people that elected her.

Cannibalism the cure to climate change?

Is cannibalism the way to cure climate change? According to one Swedish scientist, Magnus Soderlund, eating humans after they die could be an effective way to cut down on Greenhouse gas emissions. Instead of breeding cattle or sheep, we just eat the dead instead of burying them.

I’m not quite sure the grandkids will want to know that grandma’s old recipe is not so much made by her but of her.

Yet more climate change lunacy. Maybe Soderlund can enlist the services of fellow Swede, 16yo climate activist Greta Thunberg, to legitimize the activity.

Become a climate science expert for $25 a week over 100 hours!

climate course.png

Who knew?  Amazing that one can be qualified in Climate Science merely by doing 100 hours inside 6 months and paying $25/week. The UN can source a whole new team of lead authors with qualifications like that. Maybe peer review the latest papers.

Yet why pay $25 a week when one can read The Guardian for free and fill one’s head with all the climate alarmism one’s heart desires? Quoting the newspaper on social media feeds will allow one to sound like an expert and bolster reputation and status on Twitter. What is more the compelled language within the newspaper makes one sound more authoritative.

Top marks to the progressive left for generating so much horsesh*t that allows this type of behaviour. If you need an emotional support anything outside of a blanket, you probably shouldn’t be flying. What if CM wanted to bring an emotional support elephant? Why are my rights not equally respected? Supporting mental health is one thing. Caving to the preposterous is another.

One has to wonder whether this violates FAA rules as regards airline safety in an emergency. Will airlines have to retrofit all fleets with horse-sized life jackets?
