Steve Bannon charged with wire fraud

Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon has been officially charged for playing a role in a scam that has allegedly defrauded people out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, all which were donated to help build a wall along the southern border.

The Washington Examiner noted,

Audrey Strauss, the acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, and Philip R. Bartlett, inspector-in-charge of the New York Field Office, unsealed indictments on Thursday morning for Bannon, Brian Kolfage, Andrew Badolato, and Timothy Shea. The four men led the “We Build the Wall” fundraiser that sought donations to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, which was a 2016 campaign promise from Trump. The group raised more than $25 million. All four men were arrested Thursday morning, and each was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering, each of which could result in up to 20 years in prison.

“As alleged, the defendants defrauded hundreds of thousands of donors, capitalizing on their interest in funding a border wall to raise millions of dollars, under the false pretense that all of that money would be spent on construction,” Strauss said in a statement.

“While repeatedly assuring donors that Brian Kolfage, the founder and public face of We Build the Wall, would not be paid a cent, the defendants secretly schemed to pass hundreds of thousands of dollars to Kolfage, which he used to fund his lavish lifestyle,” she continued. “We thank the USPIS for their partnership in investigating this case, and we remain dedicated to rooting out and prosecuting fraud wherever we find it.”

It is hardly a good look for Trump. No doubt he’ll say he split from Bannon because he stopped trusting him. The mainstream media will be all over this. Although it is likely that he will light another fire for them to chase.

Should they be found guilty, may justice be served appropriately.

Who knew? Atlanta Police push back & call in sick

Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has acknowledged that police morale is “down ten-fold.”

Who knew? If the Atlanta Police feel scapegoated by its leaders, why is it a surprise that dozens of officers are calling in sick or refusing to leave their precincts?

The Fulton County DA has effectively ensured that a fair trial against officer Garrett Rolfe, charged with a felony murder of Rayshard Brooks, isn’t on the cards.

Why would Atlanta Police officers want to put themselves in harms way when the DA seems keen on hosting a kangaroo court?

The death of Brooks was avoidable. Had he not resisted arrest and not pointed a taser – ironically classified as a deadly weapon by the DA – at Rolfe he would be alive today.

Brooks had been released on parole due to COVID19 after serving a prison term for child assault. He was caught and arrested for DUI. Presumably he didn’t want to go back to prison. Perhaps he might have taken more responsibility given his new found freedom. That doesn’t make him any less worthy of life. Let’s be clear.

That also doesn’t automatically exonerate Rolfe but the media and public are not experts in what law enforcement officers are allowed to do in carrying out their duty.

If Officer Rolfe openly violated internal protocols then justice ought to be dispensed by the book. If he didn’t break any of the existing rules then the DA has no place inventing his own interpretation to ensure a guilty verdict because it is fitting for the times.

That seems to be what is at stake.

If Rolfe’s actions are no longer deemed to be an acceptable use of force then the regulations need to be changed, not make an honest cop who abided by his training into an example for political point scoring.

No wonder the Atlanta PD is feeling marginalized. Who could blame them?

Time indulges another totalitarian voice for the 2019 Person of the Year

16yo climate alarmist Greta Thunberg defines our age. As many of you know, she has been awarded Time’s 2019 Person of the Year. Sort of fitting given the magazine has a tendency to hand it to those that speak in totalitarian tones (not her own of course). Recently, she dropped the following statement,

After all, the climate crisis is not just about the environment. It is a crisis of human rights, of justice, and of political will. Colonial, racist, and patriarchal systems of oppression have created and fueled it. We need to dismantle them all. Our political leaders can no longer shirk their responsibilities.

One doesn’t have to be a teenager either to formulate such views. It wasn’t so long ago that an 11-yo implored all climate activists to go beyond the battle for global warming and fight for gun control, LGBTQ+ rights and to demand that her teachers can receive a living wage. How dare we even question where she got such thoughts! Kids just know better than we selfish adults (who used to recycle milk bottles, wash diapers and push lawnmowers) who have trashed their planet!

FNFM has always felt pity for poor Greta and written so on multiple occasions. She has been systematically abused by authoritarian adults to push their ridiculous globalist agenda. Knowing that it is uncool to attack a kid, she makes the perfect human shield. She is the participation trophy personified. Her “how dare you” assertions are never challenged by the media who toss softball questions to further deify this high priestess of the climate change movement. We must not challenge and inevitably we will probably lose our right to do so thanks to the cancel culture amongst the youth today. Such blasphemy won’t be tolerated.

No one can deny the passion with which she has embraced her cause even if not completely aware of the hypocrisy created by it. While the gesture of sailing on carbon-based yachts across the Atlantic and back to save the planet in order to slash her carbon footprint was noble, the reality is that she would have lowered the aggregate carbon footprint by jumping a scheduled flight that was taking off anyway. Why, because the boat owners had to fly sailors across the ocean to make it a reality. Yet we can calculate her potential impact:

If we assume Greta’s weight around 35-40kg, it would mean she would add 0.016% to the fuel calculations a Boeing 777 pilot would have to account for. Her impact would be so minuscule as to beggar belief.

280 million trips were made by commercial aircraft last year according to the IATA. Her transatlantic return flight would only be 2 of those meaning she would represent 0.000000714% of all annual flights taken.

Given that airlines, by the IATA’s own stats, annually produce the equivalent to 2% of all man-made emissions or 0.000016% in total, her two flights would make up around 0.0000000000114%. That is slightly unfair as the journey would be longer than most flights (predominantly short-haul). So if e bumped it 4-fold, her return trip would have penalized the planet 0.0000000000007314%.

Thunberg has amassed 3.2m Twitter followers. It is an incredible feat in and of itself. However, FNFM worries that with all of this social media exposure, when none of the prophetic doom and gloom she parrots comes to pass by the deadlines set by climate alarmists, she might realise she has been summarily duped by the very people who have actually “stolen her childhood.”

Unfortunately, she is blissfully blind to being amidst the epicentre of 27,000 hypocritical climate catastrophists at the COP25 summit, most of who flew in to tell us how we all must save the planet (on their behalf). In that sense, it is wonderful to know there is still some innocence left.

If only she knew that her climate change evangelism has thrust the ‘save the planet‘ agenda back on the map, leading to the 21% surge in delegates over the Katowice (COP24) conference. If she wants to fight against those who have “stolen her dreams” they are right in front of her.

Many of her critics suggest she should go back to school. FNFM disagrees. What is the point of sending Greta back to the very institutions that planted the seeds of this Marxist indoctrination in the first place?

To be honest, if we are to submit to the whims of teenagers who know all there is to know, we should close down our universities because there is simply no value in tertiary education, especially now that these centres for open thinking are muzzling it on campus.

Maybe one day, when Greta has a teenager of her own (assuming she doesn’t try to avoid having kids to save the planet), she will see for herself what we knew all along.

As the old saying goes. “Experience is a hard teacher. You get the test first and the lesson afterwards.

Chicago PD gets its sweet revenge on Smollett

Full credit to the Chicago Police Department for releasing the truth on Jussie Smollett before the Cook County judge was able to close the case, citing a FOIA request. Where on earth did the State Attorney’s office think justice was served when they believed Smollett was guilty but dropped all 16 felony charges anyway? How could anyone buy the First Assistant SA saying publicly that Smollett was not exonerated when his slate has been wiped clean? How ironic that Michelle Obama’s former chief-of-staff called the State Attorney Kim Foxx to discuss the concern of the Smollett family. Foxx may have recused herself on conflict of interest grounds, however the end result certainly gives rise to suspicions around calling in favours. How did a botched hoax become deserved of a suppression order?

If you want the truth behind the innocent Smollett, the CPD has provided their hard work in the following two files.

Part 1

Part 2

One of the funniest areas surrounds the Nigerians’ car breaking down after the purchase of the DIY hate crime kit and having to push it out of the parking lot.

Maybe Subway should dedicate some sandwiches to Smollett – Foot long Pinocchio, Jussie’s Jerk Chicken, Carved Turkey and Bleach…#Mugger hat meatball. How well do these sandwiches have to be prepared to escape a staged attack unscathed?

German Justice Minister shouldn’t praise a radical left punk band’s actions when the state’s own security agency has them under surveillance for inciting hatred

I’ve often said politicians should be banned from social media outlets like Twitter. Impulsive and ill thought out reactions to 140 word tweets from invisible ranters  distract politicians from getting down to the job at hand. None more so than German Justice Minister Heiko Maas of the SPD.

Maas decided to tweet that an extreme left wing punk rock band, Feine Sahne Fischfillet,  (which is being surveilled by the German version of the NSA for threatening violence against the police and wanting to destroy democracy not to mention several band members being prosecuted) was doing a wonderful job for “setting a good sign against intolerance and racism” at a recent concert organised in Anklam, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

When the local media got hold of the tweet it forced Maas to blame his “social media team” for it. No apology or remorse for the action. It was someone else’s fault. Are people seriously willing to buy the fact he allows comments to go out in his name unchecked, especially given his position?

Chancellor Merkel is suffering in the polls thanks to her misguided altruism. More than 50% of Germans do not wish her to serve a fourth term. Not surprising given the recent terrorist attacks and Merkel’s refusal to stop the flow of migrants. Is it any wonder the right wing AfD continues to climb in the polls.

In Berlin, radical left anarchists are burning cars and smashing bank buildings in retaliation for what they claim is police brutality. Far-left activists in Berlin warned that they would exact €1m in revenge for any police raids on their squats and other ‘projects’ in the capital Dozens of cars were burned last weekend.

The police have reported a significant increase in far-left violence nationwide in 2015, with politically motivated left-wing crimes jumping 18 percent to 9,600. The refugee influx is a root cause with far-right groups have reacting violently and far-left groups attacking them in response. In January this year 211 far-right extremists were arrested for hosting an anti-refugee rally in Leipzig complaining Chancellor Merkel is ruining their homeland after the cover up after the new year sexual assaults in Cologne.

The Interior Ministry revealed that 39,000 (+19%YoY) politically motivated crimes were committed in 2015, with 23,000 having a far right motive. Crimes against refugees have soared from 199 in 2014 to over 1,000 in 2015.

We should recall in April 2015 the German blog http://www.Netzpolitik.org published posts with leaked information about the plans of Germany’s secret service to expand its digital-surveillance budget. In July the blog’s publishers, received a letter from the federal prosecutor saying that they and their anonymous sources were being investigated for treason. Two panic buttons were pressed: data privacy and freedom of the press. When news of the investigation broke out it brought thousands of Germans on to the streets. Angela Merkel and Heiko Maas distanced themselves from the prosecutor, Harald Range.

However in an August 4th press conference Mr Range attacked Mr Maas for “meddling in the independent judiciary”. Range said he refused to allow his position to be influenced by politics in any way.

Mr Maas fired Mr Range soon after his comments. Merkel and Maas acted as though they had nothing at all to do with the investigation that cost Range his job. With Range gone, a mess still remains that could still lead to other politicians, ministers or agency chiefs getting pushed out.  How independent is Germany’s judiciary system?

Der Spiegel wrote at the time,

“In recent days, the chancellor, Justice Minister Heiko Maas and Interior Minister Thomas de Maizière have sanctimoniously thrown their support behind freedom of the press. But reality often looks different. In reality, senior government officials and intelligence agency heads in Germany have long been pursuing a policy of intimidating and deterring journalists and their sources...

Leaks and whistleblowers are being hunted down and criminalized. Treason, a word that had hardly been heard for decades, is once again being used as part of the repertoire of politicians in Berlin — and all in the alleged name of protecting the common good. Security is to be increased in order to better protect the country from terrorism. At the same time, however, the balance between the executive, legislative, judiciary and the press as the Fourth Estate is being thrown off.

Ever since, the German government and its security agencies have made every attempt possible to ensure that they control what information becomes public. It is Merkel’s cabinet alone that determines what is defined as a state secret. And any person who casts doubt on that right, even if it is for good reason, runs the risk of being pursued with the full force of the law.”

Let us hope in future Mr Maas listens to punk music as enjoyment rather than use it for political posturing.
