Bloomberg-Clinton ticket?

The Drudge Report is suggesting Mike Bloomberg wants Hillary Clinton as a running mate as polling suggests the duo would be a “formidable force.”

We’re not sure whether to laugh or cry.

Don’t forget that Michael Bloomberg endorsed Hillary Clinton ahead of the 2016 election. Recall he was intending to run as a Republican back then. When his bid failed he threw his support behind Trump’s opponent.

Perhaps a formidable force in rallying Trump deplorables to the ballot box to rub her nose in it?

Clinton continues to show herself to be bitter since losing the election in 2016. Of course absolutely none of it was her fault. How nice it was of her to throw Bernie under the bus late last year when she said that he destroyed her campaign by not endorsing her after the rigged nomination.

Still, thankfully friends like Michelle Obama justified Hillary’s loss when she said, “Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice!” Who knew?

Would such a combo be a plan to have the DNC unseat Bernie Sanders from the front of the queue? Does the DNC think Bernie voters hate Trump more than them post 2016? It sort of has that stench about it.

What a gift for Trump. At the very least HRC could get one step closer to being the first female head of state, especially if she adopted Nancy Pelosi’s prayer guide for the president.

Victoria to become 100% female if superannuation laws passed

The Democratic People’s Republic of Victoria is wanting to push legislation to allow companies to pay women a higher rate of superannuation than men to close the gap. Adjustments to the Sex Discrimination Act would be required.

Given the legislation that allows one to change gender without question in Victoria, why would anyone identify as male if their superannuation might be higher with a company that wanted to be woke? Who are companies to deny my right to identify as the gender I claim to be.

Even if companies wanted to voluntarily pay women more superannuation, they should prepare for a revolt by men. As bogus as those making a gender change claim might be, if they have it formalized on their birth certificate then, as a matter of law, companies would be forced by their own hand to pay men who identify otherwise.

The market is a wonderful weighing mechanism. Obamacare was one of the largest contributing factors as to why 94% of jobs growth under President Obama was part time. Companies avoided red tape by bypassing the legislation that would raise costs to unsustainable levels.

If governments want to create higher unemployment, pushing higher super is one way to put a brake on jobs growth and push companies to hire cheaper male employees.

So by the very misguided altruism of the Victorian government, women could end up worse off and the gap even wider.

What if a person with genuine gender dysphoria identities as a trans male. That would mean under the legislation a company would be entitled to lower super payments.

There are plenty of other ways to address the gap – this isn’t one of them.

Voters like Bernie more than Hillary

Hillary Clinton came out last week telling us all how little people in Congress liked Bernie Sanders. What about the voters?

Rasmussen Reports noted,

that 37% of Likely U.S. Voters say they like Sanders more than Clinton. Just 22% like Clinton more. Thirty-nine percent (39%) don’t care for either one of them…Among Democratic voters, 45% like Sanders more than Clinton. Thirty-seven percent (37%) prefer Clinton, while 17% say they don’t like either one

For many Democrats, Bernie Sanders is the candidate who can beat Joe Biden for the party’s 2020 presidential nomination. But voters are less in sync with Sanders’ avowedly socialist views than those of his potential campaign rival, President Trump.

Republicans have never particularly cared for Clinton, so perhaps it’s no surprise that Bernie edges Hillary 25% to 13% among GOP voters. But among unaffiliated voters, 40% like Sanders more than Clinton; just 13% prefer Clinton.

Even among women, Sanders (32%) is better liked than Clinton (24%).

Only among seniors does Clinton have a slight edge, but 46% of these voters don’t like either one of them.

Perhaps she should make a comeback? After all the polls were wrong in 2016.

“Houston, we have a problem” (with Hillary)

Poor Hillary! NASA (founded in 1958), back in the late 1950s & 1960s, probably weren’t rejecting applications based on gender as a form of sexism but because to be an astronaut in those days meant one had to be at the elite end of an exceptionally high pool of candidates that were invariably drafted from US Navy, Marine or Air Force jet-fighter corps where no women were serving in such roles at the time. John Glenn served as a fighter pilot in WWII, as well as Korea. Moonwalkers, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were Korean War fighter pilots. Michael Collins, the spring chicken in that group was a USAF fighter pilot. Noticing a pattern Hillary?

Back then, spaceships weren’t as automated as today. The space programme 70 odd years ago required pilots with in-depth flight experience, as technology back then was very much in its infancy. Exploring the flight envelope was properly in the danger zone. Perhaps the mood at NASA back then was one of chivalry, not gender bias. Maybe they believed in keeping women out of harm’s way after the war, rather than acting like a cabal of white male supremacist misogynists?

Although if Hillary bothered to check her history it shows us that Sally Ride became the first American woman in space back in 1983. 36 years ago. Diversity and inclusion in the rocketship have been around for almost 4 decades!

Did Hillary forget the brave souls including Christa McAulliffe who lost their lives in 1986 on the space shuttle Challenger?

CM once wrote to BMW Motorsport racing as a clueless 16yo car fanatic with dreams to become a racing driver. Sadly, CM’s dimensions (6’2″ and 100kg at the time… err hem even worse now) were not the stuff that would have been suitable for anything other than semi-trailer rigs which BMW didn’t make. Sometimes, at the pinnacle of certain professions, physical attributes, unfortunately, rule certain folk out.

It is none-the-less amazing to witness the oppression Hillary Clinton has faced during her life. Doesn’t your heart bleed? CM thinks many Americans would gladly see Hillary as an astronaut with a one-way ticket. Jettisoned as space junk. Can you imagine if Apollo 13 had Clinton on board during that rescue mission? She would undoubtedly be arguing with Mission Control on how things should be done, not the other way around. At least now, she would have made up for the weight deficit that ill-fated mission required to get the module safely back to earth!

Pelosi turns on AOC staffer

CM has held for a while that the Democratic Party is so fractured and disjointed in policy that it will end up eating its own. Recall Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, belittled the Green New Deal as the “green dream.” CM said it was best for Pelosi to bring Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) inside the tent for the very reason she won’t use her platforms to say silly things because she isn’t on the A-team.

Well AOC’s chief staffer, Saikat Chakrabarti, has stepped in and accused Nancy Pelosi and her ilk as being “New Southern Democrats” further contesting,

They certainly seem hell bent to do black and brown people today what the old Southern Democrats did in the 40s.”

Pelosi shot back,

All these people have their public whatever and their Twitter world. But they didn’t have any following. They’re four people and that’s how many votes they got…You got a complaint? You come and talk to me about it. But do not tweet about our members and expect us to think that that is just OK

Good to see the harmony inside the Democrats will lead them to a resounding 2020 victory……..

A show of hands anyone?

Economic growth is an unnecessary evil, Jacinda Ardern is right to deprioritise it

This was the headline of an article CM spotted today. Of course CM wouldn’t dream of writing something that daft. To think social wellness can be achieved, let alone sustained without attention to economic growth. Magic pixie dust perhaps? Even though CM debunked the relative aspects of the Wellness Budget being considerably inferior to Australia, the left were quick to lavish praise on the the new matriarch of the woke. She is like the Obama of the Southern Hemisphere. Even regressives are progressive in the eyes of the left.

Note the NZ budget forecasts a 25% lift in tax revenues out to 2023. Income tax will rise 29.9% over the same period. Indirect taxes will jump 28.3%. That on a slowing economy and a rising unemployment rate will mean incremental taxes sting at the margin. Their data, not CMs.

Of course if the idea is to de-prioritize the economy, it can only mean that taxes as a % of GDP rise. Indeed they do from 30.6% this year to 31.1% by 2023. Compare that to 25.2% falling to 25.0% in Australia over the same period.

Effectively Australia gets way more bang for the buck on providing wellness initiatives with lower burdens on the taxpayer because that’s what happens when the economy IS prioritized. Spending on social wellbeing rises as the economy expands.

If unemployment rises (as forecast by the NZ budget) over coming years, one can imagine that wellbeing by its strictest definition should fall. One loses a job, household income falls and wellbeing declines with it, unless welfare is on a par.

Presumably if Ardern’s deprioritized economic growth leads to worse economic outcomes, she can be guaranteed that wellbeing won’t be sustainable without more shared misery in terms of debt (rising) and deficits.

As Friedrich von Hayek once said, “if socialists understood economics they wouldn’t be socialists.”

Such is the madness of the left that they believe yet again that feelings are more important than facts. Even though as “woke” as many paint Ardern, her neighbour across the ditch is already there and expected to continue to outperform. That’s because economic growth is the priority. Yet don’t expect Scott Morrison to receive any praise. He is the wrong gender, skin colour and religious affiliation for starters.

Ardern is unlikely to stop the 35,000 odd Kiwis that migrated to Australia last year but she maybe lucky in doubling the 40 (yes, forty) Aussies who left the land down under to live in NZ in 2018.

Labor putting its worst feet forward already

The Labor Party leadership battle was a joke from the beginning. Chris Bowen even thought he was a credible choice after his disastrous campaign and economic policy suite.

Now that they’ve locked in the top spots as no women put their hand up, what is the obsession of Albanese’s team to elevate them to shadow cabinet roles just because of gender? Most men would happily have an all women (shadow) cabinet provided they were more competent than the males they would be promoted above. It doesn’t benefit male or female voters to have incompetent men or women managing their affairs.

Yet, where were all the women stampeding for the Labor leadership role? Why not take advantage of the clear open pathway created by identity politics? Nobody did. Tanya Plibersek was well prepared as the deputy for 5 1/2years to take over but seemingly it wasn’t her time. If Bill Shorten had won the election and keeled over the very next day, one can bet her time would have arrived on an express train. Don’t blame the boys of blocking a path.

Now Albanese wants to promote Kristina Keneally who has the most disastrous track record as a Labor NSW Premier. Her “besties” photo shoots with Shorten with cute Labrador puppies were a drag on his popularity not a boost. Why promote her? To make sure they can match the Coalition for gender on the front bench? It’s clear that some factions within Labor are rightly concerned.

Do politicians honestly think voters care about the genitalia of MPs? Or their sexual proclivity or what faith they preach? They’re fooling absolutely no one.

Every time anyone gets promoted beyond their ability, it shows.

If Albo wants to win 2022 he’d be better off stacking the opposition bench with the best people he’s got. Not settle for gender quotas. All Morrison has done is set the Labor Party up for another 3 years in opposition if he feels outdoing the Coalition on gender equality is where the heart of the electorate lies. It simply doesn’t.

Every successful woman CM has met has got to where she has got without free kicks, leg ups or forced quotas. It is in the reverse a slap in the face to think they’re not up to the task to have to force such quotas in the first place.
