There is a tinge of schadenfreude to hold ACB’s confirmation vote on Hillary Clinton’s birthday.
Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll revealed that 51% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. That is up 4% since the DNC commenced.
What a surprise when such a low energy display of identity politics and crack pot mermaid queen-kings are promoted as legitimate speakers.
The Recall Jenny Durkan campaign to remove the Democrat mayor of Seattle is underway after getting a King County Superior Court judge’s approval. Mayor Durkan was the individual who said CHAZ was an acceptable form of protest, even calling it a “summer of love” right up until the mob came to her $7m mansion. Never mind the deaths, the violence, destruction of private property, rapes, forcing whites to pay blacks $10 and demanding a whole host of supplies from the very democracy they wanted to overthrow. Our posts on Durkan can be seen here.
We view this as a good benchmark for anti-Democrat sentiment, especially given that Seattle and Washington are hard core blue states. Hillary Clinton garnered 52.5% of the vote vs Trump’s 36.8% in the 2016 election. Durkan won 56.25% of the 2017 mayoral election.
The Recall Durkan website notes,
“Mayor Durkan’s complete negligence in protecting the rights and safety of the people of Seattle has made a clear case that she is no longer fit to govern.
Together, let’s keep making history and #FireTheMayor…
…For our petition to elicit a recall, the petitioners will need 56,202 physical signatures.”
Over 36,000 have signed the change.org petition in the two days it has been approved.
Surely there are enough centre-of-the-road Democrats with common sense to join the movement to oust such an out of touch elected official.
Actress Alyssa Milano can’t stop outdoing herself in the hypocrisy stakes.
This time she took to demanding the Washington Redskins ditch the name because of offence it causes Native communities.
Never mind that Milano lent her name to “Touch by Alyssa Milano” which includes photos of her wearing Washington Redskins shirts.
If only she knew that a in May 2016, the heavily left-leaning WaPo released a poll targeted at self-identified Native Americans which produced the same results as the Annenberg poll of 2004. That is over 90% of the respondents were “ ” by the Redskins name.
For more links to Milano’s hypocrisy, please see the following link.
Is this the new norm of political discourse? We believe that Trump has legitimized political trolling on social media and on occasions goes too far. However, one has to question those who continually assert they hold the moral high ground end up resorting to doing the same thing. All is fair in love and war?
Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser took to using taxpayer funds to rename a section of 16th street in front of the White House, “Black Lives Matter Plaza” in what can only be described as a stunt to troll Trump. Should taxpayer funds be diverted to help boost politically aligned organisations?
Naturally, the Left is ecstatic. Yet another hijacking of the George Floyd movement.
Before fuelling her Trump Derangement Syndrome, perhaps the mayor might have reflected on the fact that the very police department that reports to her has killed 23 black people and 1 white person since 2013, by far the worst ratio compared to any American state. Why hasn’t Black Lives Matter smashed down her door to protest this abhorrent statistic?
Her own constituents took to Twitter to complain about Bowser’s political statement.
“Murals are performative, budgets are not.
If you wants to show #BlackLivesMatter in DC, why don’t you respond to
@DMVBlackLives demands, which include #DefundMPD?
Instead, you’ve pitched a 3.3%, $18.5mm boost to police & $16mm CUT to housing“
Is this how Americans want elected officials to behave? Do Americans want governments who are tight on cash, especially after months of being forced to stay at home (note Bowser’s Twitter handle still implores it) to splurge on political statements to troll someone they despise? DC public sector wage freezes are in effect, hiring is to be curtailed and building projects cut.
No doubt the tins of yellow paint and the labour wouldn’t have amounted to much more than a rounding error on the district’s budget, but it is the principle (or lack thereof).
The irony is that Trump has openly stated the death of George Floyd was a tragedy and immediately mobilized the FBI and DOJ to investigate and get to the bottom of it.
What does BLM stand for? It states that it “work(s) vigorously for freedom and justice for Black people and, by extension, all people.“
Unfortunately, the manifesto didn’t spare Grant Napear, the longtime TV voice of the Sacramento Kings being fired for saying “all lives matter.”
What Bowser is doing is perpetuating the very tribalism that she thinks she is fixing. Yet the trend isn’t limited to a political artwork. This mentality has already ended up in the school system.
The Rochester City School District in NY has already adopted Black Lives Matters materials in its curriculum suggesting that America is inherently racist. Whites are singled out for blame and learn this via a book entitled “White Rage” which is part of the reading materials for students.
Darien High School Principal Ellen Dunn sent an email to parents promising to increase the amount of race-conscious education in the curriculum by distributing documents from the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC). For context, the SPLC sacked its co-founder in March 2019. Soon after the president resigned amidst numerous claims of sexual harassment, gender discrimination and racism within the organization failing at the very virtues it pretends to instil.
The 1619 Project, started by The New York Times Magazine, is now a mandatory part of the curriculum in state schools across Buffalo, Chicago, Newark and Washington. The 1619 Project documents 400 years of slavery. Its creator, Nikole Hannah-Jones, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter covering racial injustice for The New York Times Magazine. However, four days ago she openly said that,
“Destroying property, which can be replaced, is not violence.”
Is that a mandatory lesson that parents want their kids to learn? If junior gets angry over an issue, kicking in the doors of the family car is an acceptable and reasoned response which should be forgiven?
Which brings us back to one of Black Lives Matter’s key demands – to defund the Minneapolis Police Department (and no doubt others too). Should Bowser also bow to those demands as her constituents argue? Afterall her deaths at the hands of the DC Police stats are the worst of all.
The Minneapolis City Council is seriously debating the topic of defunding the police. Council Member Steve Fletcher wrote that the police department was “irredeemably beyond reform” and that “several of us on the council are working on finding out what it would take to disband the Minneapolis Police Department and start fresh with a community-oriented, nonviolent public safety and outreach capacity.”
Which begs the question, what will citizens who are victims of crime do if the police force disappears? People will leave and exacerbate economic hardship.
In Jan 2017, we wrote a piece on what cutting funding (not defunding) police departments did to the City of Detroit. From a peak of 1.8mn people in the 1950s, the city has shrunk to around 1/3rd that level. It continues to fall in 2020. It is now 2/3rds of the population of 100 years ago.
Some 78,000 homes are unoccupied in the city, and in 2011 half of the occupiers of the city’s 305,000 properties paid no tax. The white population has shrunk from 90% of the city in the 1960s to less than 9%. The black community has grown from 4% to 83% over the same period although their population is falling in absolute terms. Violent crime in absolute terms exceeds that of New York.
7% of public parks have been permanently closed since 2008 and the police force has been cut by 40% in the last decade. Most police stations are closed 16 hours a day and response times are around one hour. The police were asking residents to call only in an emergency to prevent overloading the limited resources.
Brian Fallon, a former spokesman for the Justice Department under Obama’s former Attorney General Eric Holder tweeted, “Defund the Police.” Maybe Hillary Clinton’s security detail should be defunded too? Fallon is currently the executive director of Demand Justice, a progressive movement that strives to get liberal justices appointed to federal courts.
An online petition has been launched to defund the police across the country. It is supported by singer John Legend, hypocritical feminist soccer star Megan Rapinoe and Hollywood stars Natalie Portman and Jane Fonda, among others. We guess it is ok to take away everyone else’ security when one can afford their own armed rent-a-cop.
Is this the country Americans want? The left-wing of the Democratic Party and their radical supporters are literally painting their lunatic policies to the road for all of America to see. Defund the police? Use taxpayer funds to promote tribalism? Introduce school curriculums as early as elementary schools to indoctrinate kids about “white rage”? Keep it up.
For as much as many Americans struggle to put up with Trump for all of his antics, the left is hardly making a compelling argument as a viable alternative. Perhaps Mayor Bowser can paint #FuckTrump in rainbow colours out the front of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue facing toward the Oval Office to seal the deal.
Bowser is doing the exact opposite of what she extols.
When Barack Obama became president in 2009, he eliminated the White House Health and Security Office, which worked on international health issues such as pandemics. However, after grappling with the 2014 & 2015 Ebola outbreaks he eventually set up the White House National Security Council Directorate for Global Health Security and Biodefense team in the final year of his 2nd term.
If we truly believed the media narrative, the spread of the COVID19 outbreak was a direct consequence of the Trump administration disbanding Obama’s 430 person team.
The truth is that during the summer of 2018, Trump’s NSC merged three directorates to make preparation for bioterrorism threats or pandemics seamless. The name was disbanded. Not the function.
Journalists had no qualms shaping the story as yet another Obama legacy torched based on ego alone. Trump Derangement Syndrome rules absolutely.
Which begs the question why there was no widespread reporting or recall of Trump’s Executive Order from September 2019? His demand prioritizes coordination and response to pandemics and the establishment of a National Influenza Vaccine Task Force.
Point 1(e) states clearly,
“The seasonal influenza vaccine market rewards manufacturers that deliver vaccines in time for the influenza season, without consideration of the speed or scale of these manufacturers’ production processes. This approach is insufficient to meet the response needs in the event of a pandemic, which can emerge rapidly and with little warning. Because the market does not sufficiently reward speed, and because a pandemic has the potential to overwhelm or compromise essential government functions, including defense and homeland security, the Government must take action to promote faster and more scalable manufacturing platforms.“
Section 2 goes further,
Policy. It is the policy of the United States to modernize the domestic influenza vaccine enterprise to be highly responsive, flexible, scalable, and more effective at preventing the spread of influenza viruses. This is a public health and national security priority, as influenza has the potential to significantly harm the United States and our interests, including through large-scale illness and death, disruption to military operations, and damage to the economy. This order directs actions to reduce the United States’ reliance on egg-based influenza vaccine production; to expand domestic capacity of alternative methods that allow more agile and rapid responses to emerging influenza viruses; to advance the development of new, broadly protective vaccine candidates that provide more effective and longer lasting immunities; and to support the promotion of increased influenza vaccine immunization across recommended populations.“
In short, before coronavirus was even on the radar Trump had already enacted a policy to better prepare industry to be able to supply an actual “response”. Furthermore the team wasn’t disbanded. It was merged on efficiency grounds.
As Mark Twain said,
“If you don’t read the newspaper you’re uninformed. If you read the newspaper you’re misinformed.”
The Drudge Report is suggesting Mike Bloomberg wants Hillary Clinton as a running mate as polling suggests the duo would be a “formidable force.”
We’re not sure whether to laugh or cry.
Don’t forget that Michael Bloomberg endorsed Hillary Clinton ahead of the 2016 election. Recall he was intending to run as a Republican back then. When his bid failed he threw his support behind Trump’s opponent.
Perhaps a formidable force in rallying Trump deplorables to the ballot box to rub her nose in it?
Clinton continues to show herself to be bitter since losing the election in 2016. Of course absolutely none of it was her fault. How nice it was of her to throw Bernie under the bus late last year when she said that he destroyed her campaign by not endorsing her after the rigged nomination.
Still, thankfully friends like Michelle Obama justified Hillary’s loss when she said, “Any woman who voted against Hillary Clinton voted against their own voice!” Who knew?
Would such a combo be a plan to have the DNC unseat Bernie Sanders from the front of the queue? Does the DNC think Bernie voters hate Trump more than them post 2016? It sort of has that stench about it.
What a gift for Trump. At the very least HRC could get one step closer to being the first female head of state, especially if she adopted Nancy Pelosi’s prayer guide for the president.
Hillary Clinton came out last week telling us all how little people in Congress liked Bernie Sanders. What about the voters?
Rasmussen Reports noted,
“that 37% of Likely U.S. Voters say they like Sanders more than Clinton. Just 22% like Clinton more. Thirty-nine percent (39%) don’t care for either one of them…Among Democratic voters, 45% like Sanders more than Clinton. Thirty-seven percent (37%) prefer Clinton, while 17% say they don’t like either one…
…For many Democrats, Bernie Sanders is the candidate who can beat Joe Biden for the party’s 2020 presidential nomination. But voters are less in sync with Sanders’ avowedly socialist views than those of his potential campaign rival, President Trump.
Republicans have never particularly cared for Clinton, so perhaps it’s no surprise that Bernie edges Hillary 25% to 13% among GOP voters. But among unaffiliated voters, 40% like Sanders more than Clinton; just 13% prefer Clinton.
Even among women, Sanders (32%) is better liked than Clinton (24%).
Only among seniors does Clinton have a slight edge, but 46% of these voters don’t like either one of them.”
Perhaps she should make a comeback? After all the polls were wrong in 2016.
The optics are highly amusing. Despite former President Obama awarding his VP Joe Biden with a Presidential Medal of Freedom and saying he was the best VP in American history, not one word has parsed his lips in terms of an endorsement. Obama is hopping into bed with Elizabeth Warren.
How wonderful that despite no support from his former bromance partner, Biden wants to put Obama on the SCOTUS bench as an election campaign manifesto, if he’d take it.
Obama’s DoJ was so crooked a Texas District Court judge, Andrew S. Hanen, ordered its lawyers to undergo 5 years of compulsory ethics training in 2016 for deliberately misleading the court over illegal immigration. He also ordered AG Loretta Lynch to file a comprehensive plan within 60 days on how to “prevent this unethical conduct from ever happening again.”
The same Loretta Lynch who coincidentally met Bill Clinton on an airport tarmac several days before she was to testify on Hillary Clinton’s emails. They just talked grandkids and golf. Who wouldn’t accept that excuse?
Or FBI Director Comey’s recent admission of the failed processes to get the FISA warrant to spy on Trump even though they knew in advance how flimsy and unreliable the evidence (the Steele Dossier) to get it was?
What is this garbage about the Obama Administration having no scandals?
While black humour is definitely a strong British trait, there is nothing remotely funny about further delays to execute a Brexit deal. Despite the highest turnout in British voting history, UK legislators continue to show their employers utter contempt. We all know how King Arthur was eventually forced to deal with the Black Knight in Monty Python’s The Holy Grail despite denying the obvious.
While many Remainers argue that there was a whole swag of voters that didn’t show up on the day of the referendum – meaning the majority didn’t support Leave – they clearly showed by those actions that it didn’t mean enough to get to the polling booth. Too bad if they thought “remain” was a formality. It is a bit late to complain after the result. Tell that to Americans who believed in Hillary Clinton’s coronation three years ago. They can’t stop banging on about being robbed. That is how democracy works. Complacency is no excuse. Do we change the rules? Hand out mulligans?
It isn’t hard to work out what is at stake here. The EU wants to turn the UK into a colony. PM Boris Johnson’s latest deal was week-old leftovers from Theresa May’s disastrous proposal. Any deal short of “no” will come with so many caveats as to beggar belief.
To say that people were “duped/misled/lied to” in the lead up to the referendum is deceitfully condescending. People knew exactly what they were voting for. Now they see the very people sworn to represent them, going out of their way to cede more power to unelected bureaucrats in Brussels. The deal, as it stands, is the type of document a vanquished nation would be forced to sign – unconditional surrender. Blind Freddie can see that.
The greater irony here is that if politicians are so cocksure they can read the mood of the nation to the extent of lecturing citizens that “they don’t understand the implications of Brexit“ they should use that same chest-beating confidence to win by a landslide. Surely was such conviction so iron-clad, they would call an election immediately. Yet the Remain camp steadfastly refuses, hopefully using the time to lock in cushy EU jobs post being turfed from office.
Maybe a crushing victory in the Rugby World Cup final this weekend will be all Britons need to know that they are capable of greatness on their own.
