Trump is 100% correct with this Exec Order against Twitter et al

While the mainstream media will howl in protest, Trump has made it very clear to social media companies with this executive order – YOU DECIDE.

Trump is merely saying is that if these companies wish to keep a liability shield in place, they need to abide by the neutrality of the service provision which was always the spirit of the law. They flaunted it and now opened a Pandora’s Box all by themselves.

Simply put, Twitter, Google, Facebook and others were getting away with murder. Censorship by its very nature dictates pushing political and social views on others. What a wonderful loophole it was to push political agendas with zero legal repercussions.

Google was busted after a video featuring senior management discussing plans after the 2016 election went viral. There is such chronic bias as much as they plead innocence. Ask yourself why your phone seems to populate ads on your webpages based on searches?

Twitter has censored more conservatives than we can list. To Twitter, it is not the principle but the side that matters.

Ultimately Trump has told them they are at liberty to run their businesses how they choose. Unfortunately, if they go down the path they have freely chosen they live by the new rules which are completely appropriate.

POTUS is 100% correct but watch the mainstream media meltdown. Zuckerberg, at the very least, gets it. Dorsey is too Trump deranged to know better. Trump also added that the government would be pulling the billions of dollars it gives social media platforms now that they want to actively push their own agenda.

Once again – the message is “YOU DECIDE”

Mirror, mirror on the wall who has the fairest tweets of all

No sooner had the threats from Trump to change the legislation around social media platforms, Twitter doubled down on its fact checking.

In what looked far more like a quest to show it was impartial, Twitter decided to treat its users as idiots.

It fact checked a photo of Derek Chauvin, a now former Minneapolis police officer involved in the inexcusable death of George Floyd, for a doctored photo showing him wearing a red MAGA baseball cap. Does Twitter think people can’t work out a tasteless photoshop?

The other notable fact check was a tweet from Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry who made the audacious claim that the coronavirus outbreak may have begun in the US and planted in China by the U.S. military.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey took exception to comments made by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg who realized what may be coming. Facebook’s chief said,

I just believe strongly that Facebook shouldn’t be the arbiter of truth of everything that people say online.

Dorsey rebuffed these statements with,

[fact-checking] does not make us an ‘arbiter of truth’…Our intention is to connect the dots of conflicting statements and show the information in dispute so people can judge for themselves.”

Was Twitter to fairly dispense consistency and fact check the unverified rubbish inserted into many of the 500 million tweets made every day it couldn’t afford the hall monitoring costs.

The truth is simpler. If Twitter was forced by an independent ‘arbiter of truth’ to examine its own political bias in the mirror it would never seek to go down the path of fact-checking period.

Dopey, Doc, Bashful, Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneezy and Snow White should be free to exercise their own intellectual curiosity instead of letting the Wicked Witch of the Left try to influence their thought.

As we pointed out yesterday, when the head of Twitter’s integrity department has such glaringly questionable ethics is it any wonder that the rest of us don’t need to take a “byte” of his poisoned apples sold as Twitter magic.

Doubling down against Trump won’t make Twitter the fairest of them all. Not by half. Unless you believe in fairytales.

Twitter trolls Trump with a CNN fact checker link

Social media is alight with Twitter’s bold move to add a ‘fact-check’ link (to CNN of all networks) to President Trump’s claim that mail-in voting encourages electoral fraud. Twitter argued his comment was “potentially misleading.

Two points:

1) if it was consistent, Twitter should add fact checker links to around 99% of the unsubstantiated bile that is posted everyday. Why single out POTUS other than to indulge their utter hatred of him?

2) in 2005, former President Jimmy Carter and Reagan’s former Chief of Staff James A. Baker conduct a commission on election reform.

With respect to mail-in voting, the study noted:

“Absentee ballots remain the largest source of potential voter fraud.

The Carter-Baker Commission argued that national voter identification was needed to prevent real ballot fraud (especially as absentee voting could lead to double voting across states by submitting by mail and voting on election day) and to keep public confidence in the election process.

Trump has 80.9 million Twitter followers. We somehow think that fact-checking conducted by left-leaning social media platforms leaning on a reprehensible network like CNN is laughable given the shameless and glaring bias.

Note that Michael Moore’s documentary, “Planet of the Humans” has been taken down from YouTube after pressure from activists on the grounds of “copyright infringement”. Just like the two doctors that spoke out about coronavirus. That video was removed as well.

How wonderful we are able to rely on such platforms to tell us what we are allowed to think.

In conclusion, Twitter is walking on thin ice. If it starts to behave as a “media” outlet doling out opinions instead of being a mere provider of a social media platform, it may find itself wearing regulations that stifle its ability to operate. Bring it on. That would be a spectacular own goal.
