Crime

Why hasn’t this violence been reported by the media??

An innocent 15yo girl was set upon by 8 thugs at Southern Cross Station in Melbourne at midday. They were so proud of their violent actions they then uploaded it to Snapchat.

Where were people stepping into save the poor girl from what was going on? How could anyone witness this and not intervene? Why hasn’t the media televised it? If this was 8 whites on a minority it would be televised for weeks.

Of course, in the People’s Republic of Victoria, the Police say they haven’t got enough evidence to follow.

The girl has broken ribs, lacerations and severe trauma. She worries about reporting them because she fears that nothing will happen to them and they’ll finish off the job. She knows at least one of the perpetrators.

What happened when Baltimore went soft on crime

Arrests chg

In April 2015, a black man by the name of Freddie Gray died from injuries sustained in a police van. His death sparked outrage and riots in Baltimore. The 6 officers (3 black, 3 white) who faced trial for his death were either acquitted or had the charges dropped.

According to Larry Elder, despite claims that the city was suffering from systemic racism at the time of his death, the mayor of Baltimore City was black, the AG was black, the police chief was black, his deputy was black, the majority of the command centre was black and the city council members were predominantly black and all Democrat. We shouldn’t forget that the US president was also black.

As a result of the riots that followed Gray’s death, the Baltimore City Police Department (BCPD) went soft on crime. Police actions fell off a cliff. Arrests had been declining for years but decelerated even quicker post-2015.

From 2014 to 2017, dispatch records show the number of field interviews fell 70%. Suspected narcotics offences reported by police fell 30%. The number of people BCPD reported seeing with outstanding warrants dropped by half.  The acting police commissioner admitted, “In all candour, officers are not as aggressive as they once were, pre-2015. It’s just that fact.

Rape surged.

Rapes

Homicides exploded. In 2017, Baltimore hit its highest per-capita murder rate ever. It was double Chicago’s rate and in absolute numbers higher than New York, a city 14 times as populous.

Homicides

An informal survey of 15% of BCPD officers taken by the council showed that officers were afraid to make arrests in the aftermath. A third of those surveyed had served in BCPD for over 20 years.

40% said they felt “inadequately trained

43% said they do not feel “comfortable making self-initiated arrests

68% said they do not feel “city leadership supports law enforcement.”

74% said they “feel restricted by the consent decree,”

78% said they felt the department had “lowered hiring standards.

One officer responded, “Morale won’t rise until the Department and its officers receive consistent public support from the Mayor, City Council and State’s Attorney. No one is asking that corruption be tolerated. What we are asking is that when we investigate crimes and make arrests or issue citations that our elected leaders support us when we encounter resistance.

Another mentioned, “We don’t have enough people in my unit. The volume of cases we have is absurd given our manpower. It leads to mistakes, and inadequate follow up investigations which lead to sloppy prosecutions. None of which is for lack of trying.

A shortage of funds? The budget for the BCPD has grown from $455 million in FY2015 to $536 million for FY2020, begging the question of why arrests and prosecution of crime haven’t matched the increased spending?

When analysing the breakdown of the BCPD budget, composition matters. Police patrolling will decline from $253 million in 2015 to $202 million in the 2020 budget. The number of police allocated to patrol will fall from 1,851 to 1,363 during the same period. Administration expenses will jump from $44 million to $94 million. Crime investigation will rise from $52 million to $53 million off from the low of $35 million in 2019.

Just as we saw with our study on fire services around Australia at the time of the bushfires, more money doesn’t always lead to better outcomes if those custodians don’t have the skills to sensibly allocate those extra dollars.

Like many government bureaus or departments, it doesn’t appear to be a question of just throwing more money at policing but far better stewardship of funds, a more defined focus of mission and a council that supports law enforcement by cutting red tape which leads to the types of outcomes that benefit the community at large.

Woke policing doesn’t work. Baltimore is proof.

The shallow depth of the bench at the Minneapolis City Council

bender

To understand the mentality of the Minneapolis City Council, look no further than Council President Lisa Bender’s tweet from June 4th:

“If you are a comfortable white person asking to dismantle the police I invite you to reflect: are you willing to stick with it? Will you be calling in three months to ask about garage break-ins? Are you willing to dismantle white supremacy in all systems, including a new system?”

Basically, she means that white supremacy can only end when she can level (being the operative word) the playing field and force all people into shared misery. Who knew that increased crime via no policing will be the ultimate antidote to racism?

Why don’t the eight white councillors immediately step down as a goodwill gesture to lead by example in renouncing their white privilege to dismantle these systems of white supremacy? Probably work in a plan to root out the white patriarchy at the same time…are they “willing to stick with it?”

These people are insane.

Media Hijacks the #GeorgeFloyd Protests to Fan the Flames of Sedition

No one should be seeking to exploit the loss of George Floyd at the hands of inexcusable police brutality. Sadly, the #GeorgeFloyd demonstrations have been brazenly hijacked by a growing number of anarchists assisted by willing accomplices in the media to fan the flames of sedition. As Hillary Clinton said, “never let a good crisis go to waste!

Let’s not forget that the majority of Americans were united against what transpired. Yet the first thing the press seized on was to promote the idea of division.

Yes, in certain pockets of society systemic racism exists in America. It shouldn’t but it does. No amount of kneeling or social media virtue signaling can convince those who have hate in their hearts to change. Burning down buildings only hardens their beliefs.

We found a curious documentary several years ago about Daryl Davis, a black man who befriended the KKK. Davis found that listening to them was all that was required. He has caused many to hand in their robes. There is reason why god gave us two ears and one mouth – so we listen more and talk less. We encourage you to watch the full episode. It is eye opening.

Unfortunately, as we pointed out a few days ago, the statistics simply do not bear a deepening rift in race relations to be the case.

We also note the benevolent actions of so many citizens during the crisis who have flatly rejected the doctored sentiment preached by the journalistic corps. Armed militia have felt compelled to guard stores across the country to prevent more livelihoods succumbing to senseless acts of sponsored depravity in their neighbourhoods. Desiree Barnes tore strips off looters in New York for the damage done to her community by those who haven’t the first clue what impact their actions have had.

We see these as more accurate representations of the mood of the majority of average Americans than mindless clickbait journalists and Twitterati deliberately try to ignore.

Economist and social theorist, Thomas Sowell once said,

Activism is a way for useless people to feel important, even if the consequences of their activism are counterproductive for those they claim to be helping and damaging to the fabric of society as a whole.”

We posted a video of Washington DC resident Nestride Yumga who took on hundreds of Black Lives Matter (BLM) protestors for rank hypocrisy because they don’t attempt to raise awareness for the 191 homicides in Chicago so far this year.

We noted that BLM have been silent over the death of  77yo African American David Dorn, a retired Louisville Police captain, was killed by a rioter defending a pawnshop over a TV.

David McAtee was a 53-year-old African American man known for providing free meals to police officers who stopped by his restaurant was killed in a shoot out he was not a part of. Where was BLM?

Yet BLM activists have been happy to target white liberals putting black squares on their social media avatars.

FNF Media is no fan of slacktivism, the idea that moral preening on social media is enough to make one worthy. In the end, the cause ends up all about themselves – upping evidence of keyboard commitment to ensure acceptance. Still BLM focused anger at the overuse of their hashtag, not the actual problems of people dying in cold blood.

Many more police officers of all races have been injured, shot and several killed during the violence. Americans are appalled. Violence IS the problem.

Almost everything in the mainstream media (MSM) has become sensationalism writ large. When clickbait driven advertising revenues are at stake and an opportunity to knock off the very head that fuels their derangement, objectivity be damned.

Peaceful demonstrations to raise awareness about corrupt cops and the problems created by centuries of systemic racism are enshrined in the constitution. Trump openly stated he wants to protect 1A. Yet CNN’s Don Lemon had the nerve to call Trump’s actions the path to a “dictatorship.” His colleagues on the scene spoke of “mostly peaceful protests” as one stood in front of a building which was engulfed in 40ft high flames and another dodging bottles hurled at him.

The MSM went out of its way to talk about peaceful demonstrators being brutally suppressed by vindictive law enforcement officers. Innocent protestors have become unfortunate collateral damage in too many cases, mostly due to the proximity of the rioters to them.

Perhaps keyboard warriors might propose what the police should do in order to maintain order? Should law enforcement ask each protestor if they intend to commit acts of theft, violence or assault? It is just not an option when rioters are exacerbating the protestors’ suffering in the same areas. The rioters couldn’t give a damn about George Floyd. That is self-evident.

Think through the logic of those who have spent a lifetime building a business. If Trump says he wants to overwhelm vandals who have no qualms destroying their innocent livelihoods with a bigger show of force where do you think the public sympathy will lie? The promise to follow up with harsh sentencing via the brainless uploading of their crimes to social media feeds will only win more support,

Then we had sanctimonious celebrities spewing hypocrisy behind gated mansions with armed rent-a-cops who would shoot rioters on a whim if they were threatened. Hollywood only proved Ricky Gervais 100% correct.

The Left has demanded Trump reason with the rioters. How would appeasement tactics work with a group who utterly despise him? Had he played defence it would have given the mob a free license to push the crisis into overdrive which is exactly what they crave. After all, the ends justify the means.

The media relished the chance to tag Trump as a coward, claiming he had fled to his bunker. Such calls are made solely at the discretion of the Secret Service, the people paid to protect him. This is exactly why he staged the walk across Lafayette Square ahead of his security team and pose in front of St. Johns Church to debunk that narrative.

Yet journalists devoted more outrage over this action to clear a path to the house of worship than the very acts of the rioters who unsuccessfully tried to burn it to the ground a day earlier. Priorities.

The media repeatedly pushed lies about tear gas being used on those peaceful protestors outside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Never mind that the US Park Police went on record to deny that accusations and state they had been attacked with projectiles “including bricks, frozen water bottles and caustic liquids” and “found caches of glass bottles, baseball bats and metal poles hidden along the street.” Must be the same peaceful protestors CNN has talked about.

Trump has only one real option – play offense. Which he is doing. Most Americans want an end to seeing footage of police in Buffalo being callously run down by speeding rioters or other cops being shot and filmed as they bleed out. They want law and order restored and the longer it goes the more angry they will get at authorities sitting doing nothing when they were only too happy to issue citations for violating stay at home orders.

Yet it doesn’t matter what Trump does. Even if he delivered the very script the MSM wrote for him, they’d find fault.

We could go on and on.

We should all condemn all violence and vigorously defend the right to free speech. What we are seeing is activists pushing for more of the former and less of the latter. That should tell us much.

We think these riots have solidified Trump’s chances for re-election. Fewer Americans want to be associated with groups that openly embrace thuggery and looting as fair game.

Lived experience through the past two weeks of violence and the past three months of lockdown are enough evidence to prove that Americans are growing tired of anarchy and totalitarianism. There is only one candidate who openly stands against it – Trump.

Two other things we’ve learnt.

The picture at the top depicts yet more sanctimonious hijacking of the George Floyd tragedy by protestors in Sydney (and many other countries). Despite facts borne out of a Royal Commission that aboriginal deaths in custody were no different to any other demographic, woke mobs think killing cops is something to boast about.

The only other thing we’ve learnt is that ignoring social distancing doesn’t seem to be a problem either.

Let’s hope this senseless violence is quelled and cooler heads prevail.

Brains immature until 25yo

The BBC notes that pressure is being placed on courts to refrain from jailing people under 25yo on the basis their brains are stil immature.

BBC reported, “The Scottish Sentencing Council, which produces guidelines for all courts, has launched a 12-week public consultation…

…They say a young person’s maturity should be taken into account when assessing their blameworthiness…

…Using 25 as a threshold would bring Scotland in line with Switzerland. In the Netherlands the age threshold is 23. In Germany it is 21…

…It follows research saying imbalances in brain development explain risk-taking and emotionally driven behaviour.

Do the same rules apply to the apocalyptic predictions of a brainwashed 17yo to save the planet? Is it emotional rather than rational?

When racism cuts the other way and the authorities stay silent

Racism is intolerable on any level. However in today’s society, expressing an opinion others don’t like can brand one as being racist. The British media has been lambasted by the likes of Vox over its treatment of Meghan Markle.

However when a damning report on the Greater Manchester Police Department revealed it had systematically covered up dealing with largely Pakistani grooming gangs over 15 years for fear of being viewed as racist, much of the media fell deathly silent.

The Telegraph wrote,

In the very week that an excoriating 150-page report revealed that Greater Manchester Police (GMP) knew of grooming gangs sexually exploiting almost a hundred girls, some as young as 12, “in plain sight”, Question Time did not feature a single question on the topic…The BBC was keen to indulge the notion that a cossetted multi-millionairess had been a victim of racism, while completely ignoring girls like Victoria Agoglia, who died after having her 15-year-old veins filled with heroin so she could be raped by dozens of “Asian” (Pakistani-heritage) men…I ask you, which case is of greater national significance? A duchess who leaves the Royal family after 20 months because it’s “not working for me”, or the revelation that police officers turned a blind eye to scores of children being grotesquely violated because to arrest their tormentors might look like cultural insensitivity?”

Valid points.

The report centred on Operation Augusta, set up in 2004. It was prompted by the death of Victoria, 15yo, a girl under the care of Manchester City Council, who reported being raped and injected with heroin by a middle aged Asian man. She died of an overdose two months after this.

Operation Augusta identified at least 57 victims and 97 potential suspects but was shut down by senior officers and files went missing.

While we have yet to read the full report on the GMP it is not an isolated incident. We read the 200-page Rotherham Report in 2018.

The details of the Rotherham grooming gang scandal was tabulated in an independent inquiry looking at the problem between 1997-2013 showing the extent of the cover up.

The Inquiry tabulated a case of a father being arrested for trying to get his daughter out of a rape den. A 12yo girl was raped in a park then doused in gasoline and threatened with being set alight if she said anything about what had happened.

The sad thing is that these gangs are wide spread – Rotherham, Rochdale, Newcastle, Bristol, Aylesbury, Oxford, Peterborough, Keighley, Newham, Leeds, Bradford, Telford, Sheffield and London. The report discussed how the gangs transferred the children within the ‘safe houses; in the network to keep the industry clandestine.

The Inquiry was given a list of 988 children known to children’s social care, or the Police. 51 were current cases and 937 historic. It read 66 case files in total. It took a randomised sample of 19 current and 19 historic cases. In 95% of the files sampled, there was clear evidence that the child had been a victim of sexual exploitation. Only two children (5%) were at risk of being exploited rather than victims. From the random samples, we concluded that it was very probable that a high proportion of the 988 children were victims.

Taking all these sources together, the Inquiry concluded that at least 1,400 children were sexually exploited between 1997 and 2013. This is likely to be a conservative estimate of the true scale of the problem. It was unable to assess the numbers of other children who may have been at risk of exploitation, or those who were exploited but not known to any agency. This includes some who were forced to witness other children being assaulted and abused.

The responses by the authorities were absolutely insane. Take some of the following examples from the report:

We read cases where a child was doused in petrol and threatened with being set alight, children who were threatened with guns, children who witnessed brutally violent rapes and were threatened that they would be the next victim if they told anyone. Girls as young as 11 were raped by large numbers of male perpetrators, one after the other. One said, What’s the point… I might as well be dead.

In two of the cases we read, fathers tracked down their daughters and tried to remove them from houses where they were being abused, only to be arrested themselves when police were called to the scene. In a small number of cases (which have already received media attention) the victims were arrested for offences such as breach of the peace or being drunk and disorderly, with no action taken against the perpetrators of rape and sexual assault against children.

One child who was being prepared to give evidence received a text saying the perpetrator had her younger sister and the choice of what happened next was up to her. She withdrew her statements. At least two other families were terrorised by groups of perpetrators, sitting in cars outside the family home, smashing windows, making abusive and threatening phone calls. On some occasions child victims went back to perpetrators in the belief that this was the only way their parents and other children in the family would be safe. In the most extreme cases, no one in the family believed that the authorities could protect them.

The Inquiry listed what had happened to these girls, aged as young as 11, after being discovered. It is shocking beyond belief:

Child A (2000) was 12 when the risk of sexual exploitation became known. She was associating with a group of older Asian men and possibly taking drugs. She disclosed having had intercourse with 5 adults. Two of the adults received police cautions after admitting to the Police that they had intercourse with Child A. Child A continued to go missing and was at high risk of sexual exploitation. A child protection case conference was held. It was agreed by all at the conference that Child A should be registered. However, the CID representative argued against the category of sexual abuse being used because he thought that Child A had been ‘100% consensual in every incident’. This was overruled, with all others at the case conference demonstrating a clear understanding that this was a crime and a young child was not capable of consenting to the abuse she had suffered. She was supported appropriately once she was placed on the child protection register.

Child F (2006) was a victim of serious sexual abuse when she was a young child. She was groomed for sexual exploitation by a 27-year-old male when she was 13. She was subjected to repeated rapes and sexual assaults by different perpetrators, none of whom were brought to justice. She repeatedly threatened to kill herself and numerous instances of serious self-harm were recorded in the case file, including serious overdoses and trying to throw herself in front of cars. Social workers worked to protect Child F after she was referred by the Police. There was good cooperation between children’s social care services, the Police, Risky Business and acute hospital services, where doctors were seriously concerned about her because of the number and seriousness of hospital admissions over such a short time, many associated with serious drug misuse and self-harm. There was evidence in the file of social workers, frontline managers and Risky Business workers doing everything possible to help Child F. She was eventually placed in secure care, where she stayed for several months. During this time she was kept safe and a process of therapeutic intervention began.

Child H (2008) was 11 years old when she came to the attention of the Police. She disclosed that she and another child had been sexually assaulted by adult males. When she was 12, she was found drunk in the back of a car with a suspected CSE (child sexual exploitation) perpetrator, who had indecent photos of her on his phone. Risky Business became involved and the Locality Team did an initial assessment and closed the case. Her father provided Risky Business with all the information he had been able to obtain about the details of how and where his daughter had been exploited and abused, and who the perpetrators were. This information was passed on to the authorities. Around this time, there were further concerns about her being a victim of sexual exploitation. She was identified as one of a group of nine children associating with a suspected CSE perpetrator. Her case had not been allocated by children’s social care. The Chair of the Strategy meeting expressed concern about her and considered she needed a child protection case conference. This does not appear to have been held. Three months later, the social care manager recorded on the file that Child H had been assessed as at no risk of sexual exploitation, and the case was closed. Less than a month later, she was found in a derelict house with another child, and a number of adult males. She was arrested for being drunk and disorderly (her conviction was later set aside) and none of the males were arrested. Child H was at this point identified as being at high risk of CSE. Risky Business, social care workers and the Police worked to support Child H and her father and she was looked after for a period. She suffered a miscarriage while with foster carers. Her family moved out of the area and Child H returned home. Some of the perpetrators were subsequently convicted.

Yet political correctness and decades of turning a blind eye by the police allowed well documented cases of sexual grooming of children continue.

This is what the Inquiry had to say about the Police:

We deal with the response of South Yorkshire Police at some length throughout this report. While there was close liaison between the Police, Risky Business and children’s social care from the early days of the Risky Business project, there were very many historic cases where the operational response of the Police fell far short of what could be expected. The reasons for this are not entirely clear. The Police had excellent procedures from 1998, but in practice these appear to have been widely disregarded….We were contacted by someone who worked at the Rotherham interchange in the early 2000s. He described how the Police refused to intervene when young girls who were thought to be victims of CSE were being beaten up and abused by perpetrators. According to him, the attitude of the Police at that time seemed to be that they were all ‘undesirables’ and the young women were not worthy of police protection.

The Council was no better:

In 2004-2005, a series of presentations on CSE were first made to councillors and then other relevant groups and agencies, led by the external manager of Risky Business, from Youth Services. The presentations were unambiguous about the nature and extent of the problem…In 2006, a Conservative councillor requested a meeting with the Council Leader at which he expressed his concerns about CSE. This had come to his attention via constituents. He told the Inquiry that the Council Leader advised him the matters were being dealt with by the Police and requested that he did not raise them publicly…

Interviews with senior members revealed that none could recall the issue ever being discussed in the Labour (Party) Group until 2012. Given the seriousness of the subject, the evidence available, and the reputational damage to the Council, it is extraordinary that the Labour Group, which dominated the Council, failed to discuss CSE until then. Some senior members acknowledged that that was a mistake. Asked if they should have done things differently, they thought that as an administration they should have tackled the issues ‘head on’, including any concerns about ethnic issues.”

We could go on and on about the evidence discovered about the ‘Asian’ background of a majority of the perpetrators and how political correctness has allowed 1,000s of young girls’ lives have been destroyed because of the silence of the authorities. This is just one town.

The Inquiry found that taxi companies operated as part of the grooming gangs. It shouldn’t matter who commits the crimes or what their background is – it should matter how justice is served as a community that holds common decency as values. Even more importantly that law enforcement and the judiciary prosecute in a manner that sets an example such that it will never be tolerated.

This has to be one of the most shameful periods in UK history.

We have little doubt that the GMP report will tabulate similar instances as Rotherham.

Any authorities, from the police to the local council at the time should be charged with willful and gross dereliction of duty.

Global Warming & Murder

Last week, CM wrote about the American Psychological Association (APA) claim that,

“between 2010 and 2099, climate change would cause an estimated additional 30,000 murders, 200,000 cases of rape, and 3.2 million burglaries due to increased average temperatures.”

If we take the US murder rates we see that states with colder average temperatures have higher murder rates.

In the highest quartile for murder per 100,000 inhabitants, we see

DC (Washington)

Maryland

Alaska

Illinois (Chicago)

None of the above states are regarded for excessively high temperatures bs national averages.

The lowest quartile for murder were found in the following states

Hawaii

Idaho

Utah

Arizona was in the 3rd quartile of least likelihood of murder. Seems that heat is helpful.

Did the APA get distracted by snowfalls in Hawaii?

As for the 200,000 extra rapes as quoted in the APA report,

The most rapes per 100,000 people committed in the following states

Alaska

Michigan

Colorado

The 3 states above more likely to suffer cold weather have rates of rape per 100,000 inhabitants higher than the national average. At the low end of rapes per 100,000 we have:

New Jersey

Connecticut

Georgia

Note Hawaii, California and Florida also have rape rates below the national average.

So we can pretty much conclude that the idea global warming will trigger such crimes is not supported by temperatures as they stand. On the contrary Americans should pray for warmer weather to lower the incidence of murder and rape because the stats contradict the studies.

Germany’s shocking political crime problem

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has often been admired by outsiders for her switched-on socialist driven policy platform. Sadly, the underlying domestic security issue continues to deteriorate. Is it any wonder that we are witnessing the surge of populist parties across Europe? The following report is a damning indictment on what happens when people feel disenfranchised by the incumbent political class.

Germany’s Federal Ministry for the Interior (BfV) updated its factbook on the explosion in left and right wing groups and the rise of Salafists at home. To summarize:

In 2017, the BKA (Federal Criminal Police Office) registered 39,505 offences in the category of politically motivated crime, an increase of 20.4% over the 2014 figure.

Right wing extremist party membership has risen from 22,600 in 2015 to 24,000 in 2017. BfV notes,

In 2017, 286 offences motivated by right-wing extremism (2016: 907) were linked to accommodation centres for asylum seekers. These included 42 violent crimes (2016: 153), 16 of them arson attacks (2016: 65). One reason why the number of acts of violence motivated by right-wing extremism against accommodation centres for asylum seekers dropped is presumably the consistent practice adopted by many courts of partly imposing long prison sentences against perpetrators.

Reichsbürger” (“citizens of the Reich”) and “Selbstverwalter” (“sovereigns”) comprise groups and individuals who for various reasons deny the existence of the Federal Republic of Germany and reject its legal system. They claim that the German Reich survives, for example, they invoke conspiracy theorist arguments or refer to a law of nature of their own definition.

Some 16,500 people across Germany were classed as “Reichsbürger” or “Selbstverwalter” in 2017 (2016: 10,000). The majority of “Reichsbürger” and “Selbstverwalter” are male (approx. 74%) and over 40.

As well as being verbally aggressive, “Reichsbürger” and “Selbstverwalter” also have a great affinity with weapons. Almost 7% have a licence for firearms, a higher proportion than among the general population (approx. 2%). In 2017, some 1,100 “Reichsbürger” and “Selbstverwalter” held a gun licence. The security authorities are paying close attention to these groups because they pose a risk to others. The public authorities have revoked many licences, although the holders have often filed legal remedies against these measures. Most of the cases are still pending.

Left wing extremist party membership has risen from 26,500 in 2015 to 29,500 in 2017.

In 2017, 6,393 criminal offences were classified as left-wing politically motivated crimes with an extremist background (2016: 5,230), of which 1,648 were violent crimes (2016: 1,201). The BfV report states,

Autonomists make up the largest group of violence-oriented left-wing extremists. As they do not recognise the state’s monopoly on the use of force, autonomists generally deny the legality of government action. They regard violence against representatives of the state (e.g. police officers) as legitimate self-defence. Autonomists attempt to escalate demonstrations by means of mass militancy or they launch targeted, clandestine attacks against people or property. Their aim is to force the state to reveal its alleged “fascist nature” which it is supposedly hiding behind a democratic “mask”.

Islamic Extremists

Salafist movements in Germany have risen from 8,350 in 2015 to 10,800 in 2017 with the BfV noting on the whole, that all Islamist following in 2017 amounted to approximately 25,800 individuals, over 1,400 more than 2016. BfV did note,

The Salafist scene is the main recruiting source for jihad. Salafism in Germany enjoys undiminished popularity. In 2017, the number of Salafists in Germany once again increased by 1,000 to a total of 10,800. This makes the adherents of the Salafi ideology the only Islamist group seeing a significant increase in followers. This is particularly problematic when considering that political and jihadist Salafists share a common ideological basis. Despite the fact that political Salafists usually refrain from using violence, focussing on propaganda and recruitment activities they call “proselytising”, experience has shown that no clear distinction can be made between the two tendencies. Generally approving violence is an integral part of the Salafist ideology. Analysing the recent attacks carried out in Germany and in Europe has shown that jihadist activities are very often preceded by a Salafist radicalisation.

The BfV reports there were 30,550 foreigners posing a threat to the state in 2017 that weren’t of Islamist background. The largest part, i.e. 18,050 individuals, belong to left-wing extremist groups of foreigners, while 11,000 individuals were affiliated to right-wing extremist groups of foreigners, and 1,500 individuals had to be considered members or adherents of separatist groups of foreigners.

In the area of politically motivated crime by foreigners, 2,566 offences with an extremist background were registered (2015: 1,524), including 427 violent offences (2015: 235). The total number of criminal offences in this category thus increased by 68.4%, the number of violent crimes even by 81.7%.

We should be careful what we wish for in Australia. The Labor Party’s promise to introduce new protection laws to compel speech is laced with danger. When people feel their freedoms have been removed one by one, eventually they will seek to take the law into their own hands. Forget civil disobedience. Australia risks heading the way of Germany.

Why does climate science fraud go unpunished?

Why is it that whenever climate scientists get caught manipulating figures there are no repercussions? Let’s not kid ourselves. Governments around the world have splurged 100s of billions of TAXPAYER dollars on climate abatement that have been based on research that in numerous cases has been found to involve manipulation. Whichever way we cut it, fraud is fraud.

Take the financial sector as an example. There has been much malfeasance committed in the last few decades that have resulted in humungous penalties.

WorldCom CEO Bernie Ebbers was sentenced to 25 years based on nine counts of conspiracy, securities fraud and false regulatory filings to the tune of $11bn.

Enron’s former CEO Jeffrey Skilling was convicted on 35 counts of fraud, insider trading and other crimes related to Enron and sentenced to 24 years prison and fined $45 million.

Madoff got 150 years for his $65bn Ponzi scheme, Allen Stanford received 110 years jail for his $7bn fraud.

Yet when the scientific community commits fraudulent offences, they’re not even brought to trial.

Take the UNIPCC which was established by the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Panel (UNEP) in 1988.

The Climategate email scandal in 2009 and the Climategate 2.0 in 2011 have shown far less faith internally than what is publicly admitted. They point to multiple cases of bullying dissenters, ignoring information that didn’t fit the narrative and data fudging.

NOAA was subpoenaed after Dr. John Bates, a recently retired principal scientist at NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center, exposes the Karl study which was used “to discredit the notion of a global warming hiatus and rush to time the publication of the paper to influence national and international deliberations on climate policy.”

Dr. Bates whistle blew on the Obama administration’s efforts to push a costly climate agenda at the expense of scientific integrity.

This was fraud. Data was manipulated ahead of the Paris summit. Developed countries committed to a minimum $100bn. The International Justice Initiative at the University of Tasmania, showed that “The total cost for developing countries to implement their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) is more than US$4.4 trillion.”

Bernie Madoff looks a rank amateur compared to the implications caused by a fabricated NOAA publication. NOAA refused to comply with initially polite inquiries to answer whistle blower claims, baselessly arguing that Congress, its employer, was not authorized to request communications from its scientists.  Despite a congressional subpoena, NOAA kept ignoring its master. Some 6 months later they begrudgingly attended a committee hearing and were found out. Punishment? Nothing. Zero. Nada.

Perhaps if these same scientists were held to the types of punishment meted out to fraudsters in the financial world, their scientific publications would “cool” (no pun intended) to reveal the truth. Alas until they face significant penalties, the alarmism won’t abate (pun intended).

ICE – the facts

ICE.png

In yesterday’s piece, Child Abuse – the shocking stats, some decided to launch expletive laden criticism on the lack of discourse on the US Immigration & Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) treatment of children at the Mexican border, the inference that CM was turning a blind eye to the beastly Trump administration in reporting the extent of child abuse. First, the politicization of children is abhorrent. Where were the media when these same supposed crimes of removing children from (supposed) parent/guardians was occurring since 2013? Reading through the ICE end of year report of 2017 we let the stats speak for themselves. Forgive the preamble.

Recall the one-sided media coverage of the lifeless body of 3yo Syrian boy Aylan Kurdi on the shores of Turkey. Yet the facts were clear – he had not been in any danger. The family had been safe in Turkey for 3 years. His father was trying to make his way to Germany for dental surgery. Aylan’s parent chose to risk his son with no life jacket to make a hazardous trip on an overcrowded boat to seek selfish opportunism. Is it up to the West to take responsibility for the individual choices of people who are not at risk of war zones? Yet the media still used the image to show how callous we were to allow this.

It was only a few weeks ago that Time magazine posted a photo-shopped image of a crying little girl looking up at POTUS. Despite a tongue-bitten retraction tucked at the bottom of a long article to acknowledge the toddler had not been wrested from her mothers arm by ICE storm troopers, we find out the mother had abducted her with the help of people smugglers while abandoning her husband and 3 other kids.  The picture was used to great effect by the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services (RAICES) to raise $20mn via crowdfunding! Even after the lie was outed the group still used it to lift the target to $25mn.  US veterans are committing suicide at the rate of 20/day and people are willing to crowdfund an unethical group by 1000s of multiples. Priorities. Or is it that TDS is that extreme?

Who wants to see screaming kids? No-one. Locked in cages? Even less. Separated? Well there is good reason for that. When even the likes of left-leaning HuffPo admitted in December 2014 that 80% of women and girls are sexually assaulted while trying to make it across the border there is a good reason to question the proof of identity of the supposed parents. Even if 90% of parent/children pairs are legit, what of the 10% that aren’t? Do ICE risk it? Australia had an experience of a mother from Nepal (a democracy not at war) who deliberately poured boiling water on her infant to expedite processing on the mainland. Are these the values of people we should provide refuge to? We should not forget that many people make the journey knowing ALL the risks that confront them yet still attempt it despite the warnings.

To emphasize the danger of lax screening,  multiple kids were found dead after being abandoned once across the border as their usefulness as a golden ticket on compassionate grounds was expended. If that isn’t some of the worst forms of child abuse then what is? Moreover these people are hardly the type that decent Americans would want to embrace with open arms!

In Jan 2016 WaPo noted, “The Office of Refugee Resettlement, an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services, failed to do proper background checks of adults who claimed the children…several Guatemalan teens were found in a dilapidated trailer park near Marion, Ohio, where they were being held captive in squalid conditions by traffickers and forced to work“. So slave labour to repay human traffickers? Let’s encourage more to attempt the crossing?

Then ICE has the trouble of finding the parents/guardians (sponsors) already living (often) illegally to collect their unaccompanied children at pre-arranged court hearings. The media went into a frenzy saying that ICE had lost the records. The truth came out in Feb 2016 that,

“The head of ICE’s removal operations, Thomas Homan, told members of the Senate Judiciary Committee that 7,643 immigrants who arrived as children were sent home between the 2012 and 2015 budget years…More than 171,000 children, mostly from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, were arrested at the border during that same time…The number of children caught crossing the border illegally spiked in 2014 [see impacts in NY Times graphic below] and the Obama administration promised that those who were not eligible for protections in the United States would be swiftly sent home… And with an immigration court backlog of more than 474,000 pending cases some cases can take years to move through the court system…

ICE SURGE

…about 40% of immigrants are no shows at court…Finding immigrant children with outstanding deportation orders is also complicated by the fact that they often are no longer at the addresses provided to the government.”We are out looking,” Homan said. “But they are hard to find. A lot of these folks who don’t show up in court, we don’t know where they’re at.”

The pictures of kids in concentration camp style cages were from 2014. Yet don’t let that get put in the way of a narrative to show the nationalist tendencies of the current administration.

While we can express outrage at the treatment of illegal immigrants at the border, the tougher laws have started to resonate with Ana Garcia Carias, wife of Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez, who said, “Stay in the country and let’s look for solutions to support you.” She visited the border and said that she didn’t recommend her citizens go to the US undocumented. If a court system has nearly 500,000 backed up in the system, it seems reasonable to push for a zero tolerance policy to end

So let’s examine the ICE data.

To contextualize what ICE’s enforcement focus includes with respect to removable aliens we find:

(1) have been convicted of any criminal offense;
(2) have been charged with any criminal offense that has not
been resolved;
(3) have committed acts which constitute a chargeable criminal offense;
(4) have engaged in fraud or willful misrepresentation in connection with any official matter before a governmental agency;
(5) have abused any program related to receipt of public benefits;
(6) are subject to a final order of removal but have not complied with their legal obligation to depart the United States; or
(7) in the judgment of an immigration officer, otherwise pose a risk to public safety or national security.

An administrative arrest of a criminal alien is the arrest of an alien with a known criminal conviction. The figures as follows:

  • 2015: 101,800
  • 2016:  94,750
  • 2017: 105,736

Here are some of the reasons of arrest (both criminal convictions and charges) for 2017:

  • Driving under the influence : 80,547
  • Dangerous drugs: 76,503
  • Immigration violation:  62,517
  • Assault: 48,454
  • Larceny: 20,356
  • Burglary: 12,836
  • Fraud: 12,398
  • Illegal weapon possession: 11,173
  • Sex offences: 6,664
  • Stolen Vehicles: 6,174
  • Forgery: 5,210
  • Homicide: 1,886
  • Kidnapping: 2,027
  • Prostitution racketeering: 1,572

An initial book-in is the first book-in to an ICE detention facility to begin a new detention stay. This population includes aliens initially arrested by Customs & Border Protection (CBP) and transferred to ICE for removal. Once again the combined bookings are as follows

  • 2015: 307,342
  • 2016: 352,882
  • 2017: 323,591

The decrease in ICE’s overall removal numbers from FY2016 to FY2017 was primarily due to the decline in border apprehensions in 2017. Many fewer aliens were apprehended at the border in FY2017 than in FY2016—possibly reflecting an increased deterrent effect from ICE’s stronger interior enforcement efforts (which is exactly what they wish to achieve).

  • 2015: 235,413
  • 2016: 240,255
  • 2017: 226,119

In FY2017, ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) conducted 143,470 overall administrative arrests, which is the highest number of administrative arrests over the past three fiscal years. Of these arrests, 92% had a criminal conviction, a pending criminal charge, were an ICE fugitive or were processed with a reinstated final order.

If one views even the short term trend of ICE operations one can see that the extent of the problem is not just a Trump issue. From even before Obama’s time, border related issues have been a festering problem. The press can beat him and his supporters senseless but it would seem he is merely fulfilling election promises. With almost half a million still to be processed in the courts, is there any sense in clogging the legal system with even more to process. Even after the repeal of legislation that prevents parent-child separations, no credit is given by his detractors despite the fact this was enacted well before he took office. Where was the press outrage during the Obama era when all the same sort of ‘abuse’ was going on? Nowhere.

People trafficking is as deplorable an occupation as can be imagined yet the idea of  publicizing open borders fuels their industry as shown in the lead up to 2014. The ultimate irony is now Frau Merkel has instituted border camps of her own as the results of her misguided altruism led to countless human traffickers to benefit from her come one, come all policies.

In summary, Rasmussen Reports notes that most Americans do not want to abolish ICE. The polling firm noted,

“only 25% of Likely U.S. Voters favor getting rid of ICE whose duties include border control. Fifty-five percent (55%) are opposed…Sixty-nine percent (69%) of Republicans and 53% of voters not affiliated with either major political party oppose getting rid of ICE. Democrats agree by a narrower 44% to 36% margin.”

AS CM always says, if people don’t like the laws, then move to change them.
