RNC first night 6x viewers than DNC on C-SPAN but…

The Hill reported that

“Approximately 440,000 people tuned in to watch the first night of the virtual GOP convention on Monday, compared to just 76,000 views for the first night of the DNC on C-SPAN. “

The NY Post also reported,

“Last week’s 2020 Democratic National Convention tanked in the Nielsen ratings compared to the 2016 opening festivities where Hillary Clinton was crowned the nation’s first female presidential nominee…

…Viewership was down as much as 42% on the broadcast networks CBS, NBC and ABC…

…Most of the networks, including Fox, ABC and CNN, still averaged 18.68 million viewers, but that was a 28% plunge from the opening night of the 2016 DNC.”

But before we get carried away,

“In total, 15.8 million people tuned in for night 1 of the RNC across the cable news and broadcast networks, -29% from the opening night four years ago, when 22.5 million watched. For comparison, the first night of last week’s DNC drew 18.7 million viewers (which was itself down 27% from 2016)…

…Fox News also dominated the key news demographic of people aged 25-54, in which the network scored 1.6 million viewers. That’s around 1 million more than its closest rival CNN, which delivered 600,000 in the demo.

Fox Corp.’s cable news outlet led the night with 7.06 million total viewers, more than triple the number who tuned to the channel last Monday.”

Could it be that voters are already committed to their choice and disinterested in any more media spun noise?

#WalkAway hits 374,000 members

The #WalkAway campaign has hit 374,000 members as of August 13th. On July 14th we recorded 316,000. It is growing at around 60,000 per month.

Processing has been the problem according to the administration team. The stories told by those who have quit the Democrats all read the same tune.

Presented below without comment:

“…they also don’t want to hear my husband is conservative and a family man! They call him a coon and sell-out… My husband is Nigerian… his parents came to America for freedom of religion and freedom to work hard to make a living! They have achieved more than they ever thought possible and instilled it in my husband… they are diehard Trump fans because they know what it is to live in a country without opportunity, without freedom, with a corrupt government and police force. I wish more Americans would travel to see what an amazing place we do live in…”

“Thank you for the add! For 28 years I was raised to believe I would always be behind in the race because I am African American. Never did this sit well with me because deep down I knew it’s character and spirit that make you who you are. I’m thankful to Candace Owens and Larry Elder for opening my and others eyes/minds so we are no longer ignorant to the manipulation! God BLESS this beautiful USA ❤️🇺🇸. I wholeheartedly support Donald J. Trump 2020!”

“I am a Ghanaian born and raised in NC and now living in NY and I must say firstly, IM NOT OPPRESSED. Unfortunately a lot of my Black Democratic friends want to force me to feel oppressed and I dont understand the point. Maybe it’s because we have mostly lived in Democratic ran cities. Nonetheless, I too always voted Democratic because like most other Blacks living in the South, we just thought that the Democrats had the answers. Honestly, I grew up in a single parent home in the “hood” with 3 younger siblings so my mother depended on the system. In retrospect the Democrats help people like my mother stay on the “system”. I can honestly say Blacks have deeper issues than “systemic racism” that need to be addressed before anything. I voted for Barack twice and regretted it after he made some very specific legislations that hurt the Black community and my industry of business particularly. So when Trump joined the race for president, I figured a business man should be able to get Americans winning again. I gained a lot of hate from 95% of my people. So honestly I see why the Democrats don’t work hard for black votes. But thank God Trump did what he did for Black people without the majority putting him there. I’m living proof of the American dream and how with FAITH and Trust in God you can move mountains and overcome any and every challenge… and no one better touch my hat or I will utilize my 2nd amendment.🤗🤗🙏🏾🙏🏾 Live FREE or die trying”

I am here because I chose to #WalkAway recently (within the last six months).

I was always too to vote the issues. After reading that school newspaper I definitely identified more with the Democrats. My first time voting was Bush v. Kerry…I voted for Kerry. And I’ve voted Democrat every election since. I’m a woman. I’m a lesbian. I’m lower middle class. I’m pro choice. I’m pro helping others. It just made sense.

Fast forward to 2016. I voted for Hillary because I was terrified what Trump meant for America. I was scared my marriage would be dissolved (gay marriage was legalized in 2015, a huge reason I voted Democrat). I was scared gays would go back to being vilified. I was scared I was going to lose my rights. I was just scared. Three and a half years went by and my world didn’t collapse. I can’t say I like Trump, but he didn’t do anything to hurt my way of life.”

“This year I officially walked away from the Democratic Party. Being gay and Mexican I was taught that our president hated me. After I did some research past memes and CNN I realized that’s not true. I voted for Hillary and I regret it every day.”

“Hello all. Growing up I was told to always vote democrat because they care about black peoples rights. When I was old enough to vote. I didn’t bother voting because I felt the elections were rigged. In a way I realized I was right, because democrats have been rigging these past couple elections. Based on how their behaviors regarding this election campaign its obvious now. The first president I voted for was Barack Obama just because he was supposedly black. I didn’t pay attention to his policies. I just assumed he would take care of the issues black people faced for decades. Once I realized he didn’t do anything to help me or black people, but instead forced everyone to pay for Obama care. I knew I could not give him my vote any longer.

I voted against him on his second term. During that time I realized the republican party lined up more with my views biblically speaking. I’m pro life, pro gun, and like less government and less tax.

Today all I see is nothing but hypocrisy with the democratic party. I made it a point to personally listen to president Trumps speeches and realized how much the mainstream media misrepresented what he states. I also like that Trump doesn’t hide who he is and doesn’t cave into the mobb. Just like in American Idol everyone like Simon Cowell for being brutality honest.. Honesty and God is what America needs. I see a mass awakening coming soon. #WalkAway

Cure for insomnia?

Depending on one’s political affiliation there are two ways to look at this pile of books displayed at Target in Westfield Chatwsood, Australia:

1) a conservative’s cure for insomnia

2) a socialist starter kit

NB for our American subscribers, former Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull was what you would classify as a RINO (Republican in Name Only). He ran our Liberal Party (which is conservative) although his policy positions were all liberal as you would view the term.

You might remember Turnbull as being the first foreign dignatory to be slapped by Trump for signing a duplicitous deal over refugees with President Obama weeks before his second term ended.

The Right has no problem with the Left’s free speech

The Left misses the point every time. Conservatives don’t wish for Clementine Ford’s free speech to be curtailed or reined in at all. On the contrary. We think her comments speak for themselves. This comment was far from her worst. She is proud of her “potty mouth” as her Twitter handle boasts.

We find it utterly contemptible that the City of Melbourne’s Lord Mayor Sally Capp didn’t stand up and send a message by cancelling the grant funded by ratepayers. Instead she said it couldn’t be undone and expressed it only as, “deliberately divisive and incredibly unhelpful.

While Ford walked back her comments with a ‘sorry, not sorry‘ tweet, had a man written “honestly, the corona virus isn’t killing women fast enough” the grant would have been rescinded immediately and the individual raked over coals for weeks.

The hypocrisy of the left is astounding. Recall soon to be retiring conservative radio personality Alan Jones who told NZ PM Ardern to “shove a sock down her throat“. We pointed out the sanctimony of brands like Koala who pulled advertising on the grounds that Jones didn’t reflect their values while at the same time had Clem Ford run a mattress campaign for them. It’s not the principle that matters but the side.

So please Clementine, tell us what you think always. Men aren’t triggered by such ridiculous empty rhetoric. They just find it appalling that the people entrusted to administer ratepayer funds can’t summon up the courage to practice the most basic level of governance and send a message that they have standards they hold ALL people to.

She might be the 2nd but by far the worst

Theresa May will resign. Finally. Utter disaster in the top job. No conviction. No moral authority. No judgment. Little support from her colleagues. No respect for the referendum. Destroyer of the Conservatives. Duplicitous EU supporter. Prepared to propose a deal to submit the British people which might as well have been an unconditional surrender to Brussels. No-one will miss her vacuous leadership. Probably the worst PM in UK history.

She may like to think that she was “the second female prime minister, but certainly not the last” but what has gender got to do with it? 17.4mn Brits would have been happy to have a transgender PM if ze could have executed Brexit. Identity politics was the last thing on their minds.

When the next female PM graces 10 Downing St it is likely she’ll seek inspiration from Maggie not May.

Keep calm and move along.

Your ABC – shocking inefficiency created by demotivated staff

While it might seem like another beat up on the ABC, we need to take a long hard look at how it operates. How is it TVNZ can operate as a self funded government entity which collects a currency adjusted 1/4 the ABC’s revenue on 1/8th staff? How many people actually understand their ABC?

Salary increases and budget increases have a 90.34% R-squared correlation meaning that budget increases tend to lead to paying higher salaries.

While some may talk about “good” content, sadly ABC’s ratings have slid considerably for over a decade in regional and metro areas. TVNZ’s have risen. So hard core left has the ABC shifted that it has created a narrower audience. The MD openly stated that if Australians wanted to protect the ABC they shouldn’t vote LNP. So much for respecting its charter which bans political bias.

TVNZ must cater to the free market for advertising dollars therefore content must meet the audience needs. It’s simple. ABC should follow suit.

Throwing more money at the ABC has not solved ratings problems. One guesses that diverting more tax dollars at kids programs that disparage white privilege, comedy shows that openly call conservative politicians “c*nts” during by-elections and producers that allows indigenous comedians to defecate on a white woman probably has a very narrow audience. Content IS the problem.

Look at The Guardian as case in point of journalism that fails to address market needs. It is free and in recent years gone cap in hand for donations because its user base aren’t prepared to stump up cash to support it. Do we need a public broadcaster to subsidize views of the left? The Guardian is simply competing in the “same” area as the ABC. ABC starves The Guardian of oxygen because we as taxpayers fully fund it. The ABC crowds out left leaning media.

Look no further than CNN. It has doubled, even trebled down on its unhinged bias. The ratings have plummeted. Fox on the other hand has risen. Whether one likes the content of Fox is irrelevant. Advertisers go there because the reach is self evident.

Moan all you want about Murdoch. His users pay and the ratings are up. Don’t shoot him if his product sells. Try self reflection. The Sydney Morning Herald tried to tell users its product was worth subscribing to. Unfortunately it ignored slumping readership and ended up being acquired by Nine Network. If you don’t cater to your audience, they won’t support you.

Staff levels at the ABC have never been higher. Ratings never been lower. Lifting the budget hasn’t caused any change. Cutting dollars will cause much needed restructuring. It is like feeding a dying patient with more morphine hoping to numb the pain. Unfortunately the body grows resistance to that. ABC staff feel this.

In the 2018 annual report, the ABC staff survey revealed engagement is at 46%, 6% below the previous survey. This puts in the bottom quartile of all ANZ businesses. #Reform desperately needed.

ABC staff complained that management doesn’t do enough to get rid of under-performers. Another clear signal that state-sponsored mediocrity is tolerated.

The culture of the organization won’t be turned around by management unless it is given a reality check of being rapidly withdrawn from the taxpayer teat. That way the c.70% of staff dedicated to content can finally listen to what the broader public want to consume rather than the echo chamber they live in. By the way, those who love the ABC needn’t worry. The limited number of good programs will stay if the audiences demand them. The unhinged radical left programming can be cut with little loss to anyone with a modicum of intelligence.

Could the message be any clearer for Theresa May?

The latest YouGov opinion poll has Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party at 28%, Labour at 22% and the Tories at 13%. Interestingly YouGov polled 5x as many people as usual. Very damning indictment on Theresa May’s lack of decisive leadership. The PM has had no authority from the beginning of this process and remaining (no pun intended) in the top job is toxic for the Conservatives.

Nowhere to top in less than 4 months

Populism in Europe is thriving. Forget the notion that new parties will always lie on the fringes. The populist Dutch FvD gained the most number of new seats in the upper house after only 2 years in existence. The Italian 5 Star Movement is less than 10 years old and has a PM leading the country. Nigel Farage’s Brexit Party is but 4 months old and look at the results.

A YouGov poll released yesterday ahead of the May 23rd European elections revealed the following:

The Brexit Party: 27%

The Labour Party: 22%

The Conservative Party: 15%

This is what happens when the population feels betrayed by the longest running parliamentary democracy in history. To think the Tories have been around since 1834. Mrs May has all but killed it.

This is what happens when politicians bury their judgement and allow incompetence to flourish. A self inflicted wound. Even if Farage doesn’t end up contesting the European elections, the UK elections should see a very strong result for The Brexit Party.

Note social media following on Twitter (taking into account the infancy of the Brexit Party):

The Brexit Party: 91,000

The Labour Party: 669,000

The Conservative Party: 372,000

UKIP: 210,000

Leaders

Nigel Farage: 1,200,000

Jeremy Corbyn: 1,900,000

Theresa May: 826,300

Gerard Batten: 53,100

On Facebook:

The Brexit Party: 66,200

The Labour Party: 1,034,000

The Conservative Party: 652,000

UKIP: 582,000

Leaders:

Nigel Farage: 830,000

Jeremy Corbyn: 1,425,000

Theresa May: 516,000

Gerard Batten: 734

In 4 months that is solid progress. Voter anger will only grow with the dithering in the Commons. Expect Brexit Party social media and polling figures to continue to surge.
