L’Oreal whitewashes 1,300 years of Japanese culture

L’Oreal is the latest company to fold to the cancel culture by removing removing the words white/whitening, fair/fairness, light/lightening from all its skin evening products. The cosmetics brand will still sell the creams which is basically as hypocritical as it gets.

If L’Oreal truly wanted to take a stand and put an end to systemic racism, it would dictate to its core customers that they need to check their bigotry and ban the creams as the tool to enforce correct behaviours.

The irony of skin whitening creams is that whites make up a tiny slice of users. Indeed Asian women make up the bulk of the buyers.

Did L’Oreal realize that during the Nara Period (710–94), Japanese women painted their face with a white powder called oshiroi? This was also documented in texts during the Heian Period (794–1185). White facial colour stood as a symbol of beauty then as it does today.

So that is to say the Japanese self-determined their own views on beauty over 1,300 years ago, before the country ever encountered “gaijin”, a name that came 500 years later when Kublai Khan tried to invade in the 13th Century.

You can learn more about the skin whitening cream market here. Note it also includes the wonderful success story of a black woman, Rachel Roff, who filled a gap in the market by targeting people of colour with products the racist (?) product developers at J&J never bothered to cater to because they deemed it uncommercial.

Never mind, you’ve been told by L’Oreal.

“Master bedroom” cancelled

The Houston Association of Realtors (HAR) has announced it will stop using the word “master bedroom” when referring to features of a house because it could be perceived a harking back to slavery. It will be replaced by “primary bedroom.”

What’s next?

Will university Masters degrees be changed?

MasterChef?

Master Builders Association?

Oprah’s Master Class?

The Masters golf tournament?

Master Locks?

Master Specs?

Master Projects?

Master Cleaning Services?

Master Shipwrights?

Rainbow Master Painters?

When will this cancel culture stop?

F-1 driver Ricciardo proves Hamilton’s hypocrisy

GettyImages-1175706475.jpg

6x World F-1 champion Lewis Hamilton has decided shaming his fellow drivers for not speaking up is a thing. Hamilton wrote on Instagram,

I see those of you who are staying silent, some of you the biggest of stars yet you stay silent in the midst of injustice. Not a sign from anybody in my industry which of course is a white-dominated sport.

Australian F-1 driver Daniel Ricciardo folded to the pressure noting,

I’ve certainly learned a lot the last few weeks…I’ve been reading, I’ve been watching and it’s opened my eyes. I’ve learnt that just because you might not consider yourself a racist or a person of conflict, that’s not enough. You have to speak up, you have to educate yourself and others around you because what I understood is, being silent is part of the problem…I felt a bit… I don’t know if it’s guilty or just like, ‘How can I be so naïve to everything that’s been going on?’. And it’s not only the last few weeks, but it’s been months, it’s been years. It is good that finally more of the world is getting exposed to it and people are behind it. Also, understanding that it’s okay to speak up, you’re not going to be judged, you’re not going to be criticised, and I think because of the volume of everyone getting involved, and all races getting involved, that’s been really powerful.”

Hey Daniel, you hit the nail right on the head. If you don’t speak up, you get judged and criticized by a hypocrite who collects a £40million annual paycheck from a company that has a history of slavery that has invested in him since he was 13 which happens to provide a superior racecar so a highly talented driver who happens to be a person of colour can obliterate his rivals in a “white-dominated sport.”

Who knew? Gone with the Wind now #1 selling DVD on Amazon

No sooner had HBO removed ‘Gone with the Wind‘ from its streaming service, it became Amazon’s #1 selling movie title.

Who knew people hated having others decide what they are allowed to consume?

Cartoon police dog is now deemed offensive

Not even kids cartoons are safe from the BLM inspired cancel culture.

Chase, the German shepherd police dog in Paw Patrol, is copping flak for being portrayed as a good cop.

Despite Chase’s sidekicks Marshall, a firefighting Dalmatian and Rubble, a bulldog construction worker helping their community every episode, they aren’t deemed worthy to radical activists.

The NY Times wrote,

As the protests against racist police violence enter their third week, the charges are mounting against fictional cops, too. Even big-hearted cartoon police dogs — or maybe especially big-hearted cartoon police dogs — are on notice. The effort to publicize police brutality also means banishing the good-cop archetype, which reigns on both television and in viral videos of the protests themselves. “Paw Patrol” seems harmless enough, and that’s the point: The movement rests on understanding that cops do plenty of harm.”

Let’s deprive kids of any innocence. Let’s get Nickelodeon to turn Chase into a speciesist who kills declawed cats every episode and picks on dogs who live in low income junkyards. Maybe put Chase down for his brutality to push justice.

Where is the pushback against the cancel culture?!? Why are media outlets folding to nonsense and putting forward all these empty apologies stating how much they “must reflect and listen“? When will they stand up and tell a small band of radical activists that they see no need to apologize for things they aren’t guilty of? Don’t they realize that they embolden these idiots to go even further every time they submit to the mob mentality?

Stop legitimizing compelled vision.

Yet why pay $25 a week when one can read The Guardian for free and fill one’s head with all the climate alarmism one’s heart desires? Quoting the newspaper on social media feeds will allow one to sound like an expert and bolster reputation and status on Twitter. What is more the compelled language within the newspaper makes one sound more authoritative.

Only the radical left could dream this up

Well, well, well. the Inclusive Communications Task Force at the Colorado State University has introduced an appropriate language guide and it has deemed the words “America” and “Americans” might prove offensive to some and have discouraged their use on campus. The reason?

The Americas encompass a lot more than the United States. There is South America, Central America, Mexico, Canada, and the Caribbean just to name a few of 42 countries in total. That’s why the word “americano” in Spanish can refer to anything on the American continent. Yet, when we talk about “Americans” in the United States, we’re usually just referring to people from the United States. This erases other cultures and depicts the United States as the dominant American country.

Why do these people hate their own country, enough to discourage the use of the word that describes it? Maybe the government should stop funding studies because the source of cash has links to so much oppression. Will the students be able to order a cafe Americano at the local roaster? Will they have to politely decline telling people where they are from?

Some of the other loony words that are deemed offensive include:

Basket case

Eye for an eye

Takes the cake

Crazy / Nuts / Maniac / Lunatic / Insane / Deranged / Psycho / Demented / Depressed / OCD

Freshman

Eenie meenie miney moe

He or She

Ladies or Gentlemen

CM encourages readers to open up the link in the first paragraph to see what they deem as appropriate responses.

CM’s favourite:

Paddy wagon – “Paddy originated in the late 1700s as a shortened form of Patrick and then later a pejorative term for any Irishman. Wagon naturally refers to a vehicle. “Paddy wagon” either stemmed from the large number of Irish police officers or the perception that rowdy, drunken Irishmen constantly ended up in the back of police cars..”

Appropriate word according to CSU is police car.

Perhaps we should celebrate that at the very least formerly oppressed whites are included in CSU’s language guide.

Perhaps there is a real argument for free tertiary education in the US. It’s worth absolutely nothing.

Hate speech?

FCF15B1F-4C6D-49BE-8980-9C6B66F6AD33

Canadian PM Justin Trudeau accused a Quebec woman of hate speech with respect to asking a question about whether the provinces would be reimbursed for the cost of illegal border crossers. Surely if his policy is so robust he should be able to comfortably defend its position without charging citizens of ‘racism,’ ‘intolerance,’ and having words which have “no place” in Canada. So much for defending the free speech of his peoplekind. Maybe Trudeau can amend Bill C-16 so she can be arrested and jailed for asking questions deemed unworthy by the state.

Who does this help?

00EF125A-75FE-47A8-9FB7-764A09508FA3.jpeg

The City of Victoria has removed a statue of Canada’s first Prime Minister John A. Macdonald from the steps of City Hall. As ever the left’s obsession with erasing history it doesn’t like continues around the globe. The main question is, who does this help? Macdonald did call Canada’s indigenous people “savages” but are these words remotely surprising for the times?  It isn’t to condone those sentiments but why not learn from them instead of bleaching things said 150 odd years ago? Embrace how we have changed and “progressed.” At the very least use the first PM as a yardstick for how far civilization has come.

Will the left go a step further and try to deny Macdonald was the 1st PM? Rewrite Canada’s confederation history  from 1867 to 1873 and make the country’s 2nd PM Alexander Mackenzie the first, because he turned down the offer of a knighthood. Sadly the left would have to discard the multiple times Macdonald served thereafter as PM?

Macdonald offered to resign in 1873 when the party was caught up in a bribery scandal over a rail contract. His party lost the general election but he still led in opposition until winning government again in 1878. Macdonald served for 19 years in the top job despite all of these issues. He can’t have been that bad or did Vladimir Putin’s predecessors interfere?

The biggest irony is that Macdonald is largely regarded as one of Canada’s best PMs, ranked 3rd by MacLean’s in 2016 out of 23. He was 2nd in 1997 and 2011. Those rankings take into account a variety of measures ranging from effectiveness, economic growth and legacy.

Which brings us back to what does removing statues achieve? How do we move forward as a society if some who weren’t alive at the time feel obliged to apologize to people that weren’t born nor directly affected by whatever words were used?

As an Australian, should CM flagellate for things that our First Fleet might have perpetrated 230 years ago? CM’s father emigrated to Australia in 1949, not 1788. CM’s great grandparents were of Norwegian, Polish and Austro-Hungarian stock. Perhaps CM should embark on a global apology tour for things that happened at the hands of those evil empires over the centuries?

Or do we just conclude that the radical left might be best to look in the mirror and reflect why conservatives don’t wish for history to be erased as the 100 million that have died at the hands of socialism’s own work serve as a stark reminder why we need to remind us of our past? Exactly. Wipe away all signs of supposed oppression and bring on the cultural Marxists to enlighten us on how we need to conform through compelled speech and laws to punish us if we choose to step out of line to their warped version of the world. So much easier to do with social media and facial recognition.

Yet more radical leftist ideology at our publicly funded schools

331F2D22-3252-499E-9CD8-9FB3A945E0A2

Given it is the Marxist state of Victoria we should not be surprised, yet the government funded University of Melbourne allows an artistic performance that requires “paying” white customers access on the basis of signing acknowledgement of white privilege. The Australian columnist, Janet Albrechtsen writes,

On Saturday afternoon, about 30 people waited to enter a theatre in the centre of a big, cosmopolitan city for a matinee session of a modern dance performance. A voice in the lobby invited people of colour, brown people, indigenous people and members of the Asian diaspora to enter the theatre. The white people were forced to stay behind, denied entry on the basis of their skin colour. The same people were then harangued for their skin colour by four young women aiming a volley of accusations at them about their white privilege….After this, the people with white skin were invited into the theatre, but only if they first signed something acknowledging agreement with a particular set of views…

…Race-based identity politics in the 21st century is toxic because it is untethered from the fine aims of the civil rights movement of the 20th century. Back then, activists fought for equal rights for people regardless of colour, creed or sexuality. Today we have returned to a dark place of defining people according to inherited characteristics such as skin colour. Isn’t that what racists do?”

Somehow the radical left believes that in today’s world of inclusivity and diversity that they push so hard for allows for a caveat emptor with respect to blatant exclusion, identity based and resent ridden ideologies. The types of teachings where students are marked down for not using appropriate gender neutral language (compelled language) rather than the quality of the content and reasoned argument (which no doubt must gel with the radical leftist professors).

The Holy Trinity of diversity (not of thought, but sexual orientation, gender or ethnicity), equity (not of opportunity but outcome) and inclusion (quotas not based on ability) will somehow level the playing field by their activism. We as taxpayers are underwriting this Marxist rubbish. We need not remind ourselves of the success of such application of said ideologies in Soviet Russia, China, North Korea, Vietnam, Venezuela or Cambodia.

The $600mn+ taxpayer funded University of Melbourne’s motto is Postera Cescam Laude, which is Latin for “We shall grow in the esteem of future generations.” It is not clear whether the founders of the UoM had Marxist theories at the forefront of their minds in 1853. Growing the esteem of future generations was not to come by cutting down those whose passions as individuals cause them to strive for greatness. Yet the radical leftists believe esteem comes not from effort but from allocation.
