“Rules for thee, but not for me!” Democrat hypocrisy in 2020

Dan Bongino compiles a solid list of Democrat leaders neck deep double standards. They believe the public is there to serve them, not the other way around.

NYPD slaps woke NYC Mayor de Blasio for canceling 9/11 tribute

Double standards NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio made a pathetic coronavirus related safety excuse to prevent the annual light display honouring the police and first responders who succumbed to the Sept 11 terrorist attacks.

de Blasio will happily allow peaceful protests and even congregate to scrawl BLM on the road outside Trump Tower but honouring the dead is deemed too dangerous.

So the NYPD threw two fingers up at the mayor and will hold it anyway citing,

The Mayor might have a short and selective memory but the members of the NYPD will NEVER FORGET the sacrifice of every person who lost their life on that fateful day.”

Good. Is it any wonder that more police departments are backing Trump?

Incompetence claims a victim of Identity Politics

Remember our piece about NYC Health Commissioner Oxiris Barbot? You know, the individual who strongly encouraged NYers to mingle during Lunar New Year and publicly stated there was no risk of catching the ‘rona on public transport. After all Trump was misinformed on coronavirus and it was unfair to stigmatize the Asian community.

As infections soared, Barbot was still able to retweet more important self-congratulation on her “expertise, commitment and incredible strength during COVID-19” and being the first Latina to head NYC Health. Like any of that mattered to NYers.

After the NYPD chief of department requested masks for officers she told him,

I don’t give two rats’ asses about your cops…I need them for others.”

Barbot resigned on Tuesday citing differences with Mayor Bill de Blasio.

I leave my post today with deep disappointment that during the most critical public health crisis in our lifetime, that the Health Department’s incomparable disease control expertise was not used to the degree it could have beenIt has been an honor and privilege to serve at the helm of an agency with its long and distinguished history in promoting and protecting New Yorkers health through ordinary times and during some of the most challenging moments in our city’s history. I am proud that as a woman of color raised in public housing in this city, I always put public health, racial equity and the well-being of the city I love first.

Mayor de Blasio responded,

You’re going to have disagreements along the way…It had been clear certainly in recent days that it was time for a change, and really about how we move forwardIn any team, there’s going to be different viewpoints, but the most important thing is the product, the most important thing is the outcome.

The outcome under de Blasio has produced the worst statistics in the country by far. Perhaps if Barbot and the mayor cast aside their hatred of the president and focused on the mission based on medical expertise rather than prioritizing identity politics, things might have turned out differently.

Who would have guessed gun crime would get out of control?

Surely those bright spark Democrat mayors in NYC, Chicago, Portland and Minnesota can work out that defunding the police might cause a spike in crime and gun violence? That curtailing what actions are at the disposal of the police would hand these cities over to the criminals.

There have been 777 shootings in NYC in 2020, one more than the 776 that took place in 2019.

Murders in Chicago more than doubled compared to the same month last year, according to the Chicago PD. In 2020 there have been 430 homicides. In July, murders are up 139%YoY.

In Minnesota, gun violence is up 72%YoY. Mayor Jacob Frey said., “Year-to-date this has been a higher shooting victim total than the last five years, with 288 victims. The next closest is 2016 with 178.

In Portland gun violence is up 4-fold. From July 1-13 there have been 42 shootings vs 11 in the same period last year.

And guess what, NY State Governor Andrew Cuomo has admitted concern that wealthy taxpayers could leave NY for good.

Roadway Moving President Ross Sapir has said his company has experienced its busiest season ever since it was founded. United Van Lines CEO Marc Rogers also said over 60% of those leaving NY are earning north of $100,000.

Tax collections have plummeted during coronavirus, falling 42% in June. Losing the wealthy for good could leave gaping holes in the budget. Cuomo might argue they left over COVID-19 but soaring gun crime is hardly an inducement to return after the pandemic passes.

Still, these Dems keep assuring us, “we’ve got this under control.”

Way to go De Blasio

As murders and shootings skyrocket in NYC as NYPD officers quit in droves, Mayor Bill De Blasio thinks that the most pressing issue in NYC is a study of the official seal depicting a Native American and a white male settler and whether it is appropriate for the times.

Here we were thinking that Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot was out of touch with the Census Cowboy as crime rages in her city.

Bill DeBlasio introduces gun buyback program

Where will NYC Mayor Bill De Blasio’s genius end? As gun crime spikes in his city, he thinks a gun buyback will solve it. Maybe cutting $1bn from the police budget might be a factor in rising crime? When his own police officers are quitting in droves and making spoof videos about the new rules he has set for interacting with suspects.

Perhaps gangsters can hand in the guns of their victims and start a side business. Who knew the mayor might end up subsidizing criminals?

Sadly, despite shootings up 253% in NYC in mid-July, the studies on gun buybacks in the US have all returned the same result – ineffective.

We are struggling to work out who is the worst mayor in America. De Blasio must be in the running. The field of incompetent Democrat mayors is deep. – Lightfoot, Durkan, Bottoms, Bowser, Wheeler, Garcetti… the list goes on.

When NYC residents took the law into their own hands in 1979

We’ve written quite a bit lately on the utterly hopeless NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio and his weakness in tackling crime.

We’ve written in the past about vigilantism in NYC several years ago and we see that inevitably, NY citizens will start to take the law into their own hands. They will have little choice.

The truth is the Guardian Angels have already returned, since deBlasio took office in 2014.

If we go back to the 1970s, when crime was surging, NYC’s population fell from 7,894,862 to 7,071,639 over the next decade.

What caused this? In the 1970s, NYC faced problems with the budget and by 1975 was teetering on bankruptcy. This led to shedding of public service jobs including the fire department and the NYPD. The fall in foot patrols in NYC saw crime soar. Homicide rates climbed as follows:

1960: 6.19 per 100,000 residents

1970: 14.14

1980: 25.60

1990: 30.66

2000: 8.44

2010: 6.53

2019: 3.75

2020: 4.26 (6 month run rate)

At this stage homicide in NYC is well off long term rates despite the sharp % increases seen since the death of George Floyd). One wonders whether the history of the 1980s will return as de Blasio cuts funding to the NYPD when the number of cops on the beat fell substantially. Will residents start moving to other parts of the country and hollow out the tax base?

We found this document interesting, especially the following statement:

While the NYPD has made approximately 40,000 fewer overall arrests so far this year compared with last year, gun arrests year-to-date as of July 5 are 1,679 vs. 1,683. We have also seen the impacts of legislative mandates sending offenders no longer eligible for bail back to the streets where they are being regularly rearrested and contributing to overall crime in the city.

Who knew? Now that NYPD cops are quitting in record numbers and new recruits aren’t being hired to replace them, what could possibly go wrong?

Expect to see more stories about the Guardian Angels in NYC as residents fill the hole that the virtue signaling segregationist mayor has opened.

To think how the mayor was so willing to use the NYPD as a Gestapo to fine residents for disobeying stay-at-home orders. Recall deBlasio even encouraged NYers to dob in their neighbors.

NYPD officer tells NYC Mayor de Blasio exactly what he thinks of his law enforcement policies

Seriously – NYPD officers think Mayor de Blasio is such a joke that they made a video which parodies the new regime they must abide by. Is there any surprise why officers quitting last week surged 411%?

NYC Scanner – what NYers are really thinking of Mayor de Blasio

The NYC Scanner Twitter handle denotes, “Everything NYC in live time 24/7 — Send pics & info to NYScanner@nybuff.org

It tells the sad tale of violence in NYC as Mayor Bill de Blasio merrily paints BLM murals in front of Trump Tower at the same time he is requesting $7.4bn from the man he is trolling. He has even co-named a street ‘Black Lives Matter Boulevard.

NYC Scanner conducted the following survey of Bill de Blasio and whether he’d allow ‘Blue Lives Matter’ outside of Police Plaza.

bluelives

60% said he hates the NYPD. NYC Scanner followed up with this to prove it.

DeBlasio paints “Black Lives Matters” on 5th Ave this morning, but this man painted anti-police slurs all over the NYC Surrogate’s Courthouse on Chambers Street. Multiple NYPD Officers watched – but were unable to arrest anyone as per orders. @SBANYPD @NYPDnews

Did the black lives matter to three unarmed black men cornered in the Bronx and shot in cold blood by two other black men?

Did the black life matter of a man shot dead crossing the street with his 7yo daughter?

Maybe we should just let the NYPD tell de Blasio exactly what they think of his stupid policies in this video.

NYPD Blues – 411% surge in cops quitting the force

It seems that NYPD officers are quitting in force after Mayor Bill DeBlasio said he’d cut $1 billion off its budget.

Yesterday the NYPD claimed that 179 cops filed for retirement between June 29 and Monday, a 411% increase over the 35 who quit during the same time period in 2019.

One NYPD cop said, “There’s just droves and droves of people retiring. But there’s no surprise here, who the hell wants to stay on this job?…Why would you want to stay on this job when people don’t appreciate what you do?”

Between June 29 and July 5, NYC saw 74 shooting incidents with 101 victims versus 26 shootings with 33 victims during that time last year. Meanwhile, 18 people were murdered in NYC last week — 6 more than the same period last year.

Defund the police? Seems like De Blasio will have to Defend the NYPD soon before he has a crimewave on his hands.
