There was a time when I used to enjoy a business trip abroad. That would enable me to hoover every word in The Economist. From cover to cover. It was great reading. And informative. I always knew I would learn something interesting. Punchy journalism that was well researched and entertained both sides of an argument.
Now it is little more than an activist rag. It hates Trump (even before he took office). Every second article seems to be about climate change or another social justice topic du jour. Anti-Brexit. Anti-America First. Anti-coal. Anti-Tory. Pro-China. Pro-Corbyn. Pro 16-yo kids getting voting rights. Pro-globalism. Check out these covers over the last 5 or so years.
If one thing rings absolutely true, we should never judge a magazine by its cover. Hint: And The Economist has always published excellent covers.

The socialist ‘Red Flag‘ magazine should be livid that The Economist has encroached on its turf. From the top of the journalism totem pole towards the bottom in a little over a decade, exacerbated by Trump’s term in office.
