Spineless SJWs in Seattle

The Seattle City Council has determined that multiple roles traditionally operated by the Seattle Police Department should be replaced with the ‘Department of Community Safety & Violence Prevention.(DOCS&VP).’

Their logic is clear enough:

Whereas, the Council is committed to confronting the structural and institutional racism as a fundamental step towards addressing the racist institution of policing

…Whereas, these protests forced many nationwide and in Seattle to confront the racism that has been plaguing the Black community for centuries and spread to other communities of color, the harmful impacts of white supremacy culture, and the Seattle Police Department’s (SPD) role in perpetuating racism and violence.

As a city, whites make up 65.7%, Asians 14.1%, Black 7.1% and Hispanic 6.3%.

Ethnicity of the Seattle PD is 74%, 6.9%, 8% and 4.7% respectively.

For what it is worth, if the Seattle PD perpetuates so much racism, why is the Chief of Police Carmen Best, black? Why is Assistant Chief – Special Operations Bureau Eric Greening, black? So of the 8 command staff, 50% are white. Meaning 50% aren’t.

The DOCS&VP will be required to have:

Culturally-relevant expertise rooted in community connections

• Well versed in de-escalation skills and mental health support

• Trauma-informed, gender-affirming, anti-racist praxis

• Connected to resources like housing, food security, and other basic needs.

How spineless are the Democrat council members, so desperate to score moral preening points, that they spit in the face of the brave men and women who defend them?

Mayor Jenny Durkan already displayed her brazen incompetence over CHAZ. Stands to reason that her council share her shocking lack of judgment. Await another spectacular failure which will only end up perpetuating the very things they think they’ll stop. Madness.

Baby Lives Matter Mural painted outside Planned Parenthood

Now that painting roads with BLM slogans is a thing, pro-life protestors have take to painting #BabyLivesMatter on the street in front of Planned Parenthood in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Planned Parenthood affiliates performed 345,672 abortions from Oct. 1, 2017, to Sept. 30, 2018—the highest number of abortions ever reported in a single year.

As we mentioned last week, according to a NYC Health Department report released in May 2018, between 2012 and 2016 black mothers terminated 136,426 pregnancies and gave birth to 118,127 babies. Shouldn’t all black lives matter?

BLM bashing

Star Parker, founder of the Center for Urban Renewal and Education, took to BLM and the corporates that support the group with a sledge hammer. She isn’t playing.

Demanding segregation at a university which scores high on diversity

us-news-2020-engineering.jpg | Rice Engineering | Rice University

Rice University (RU) administrators are being asked to establish a racially segregated non-residential Black House specifically made for Black students and Black organizations to congregate and hold events as a way to overcome “systemic oppression and inequity.” Only Black students would have access to this building.

The group has also demanded:

  • the removal of a statue William Marsh Rice, which the university was named after because he was a slave owner.
  • comprehensive decolonization of the curriculum with mandatory lessons for all students on systemic racial inequity that is built into our global and local society and how it affects Black people today.
  • an increase in Black chefs, tenured professors, as well as other members of the Rice community. Representation plays a key role in increasing the well-being of Black students on campus.
  • That RU cuts ties with Houston PD and decrease RUPD presence on campus
with the goal of complete abolition. i.e. defund the police.
  • to allow black students to select their roommates based on race.
  • Other demands are included in this link.

We were a bit surprised that these race activists couldn’t spell “Ku Klux Klan” properly (at the bottom of page 2).

The two most interesting statements were:

  • This list is neither comprehensive nor does it speak for all Black students as a single, unified group…Neither did we collect names of Black students who gave suggestions, nor did we list the names of those we are aware of who “adamantly support” some of these items.

If they wish to make such demands, surely a plurality of black students would make a stronger case for those changes to be accommodated or at the very least considered (which RU is already doing). With little data to work with to gauge the extent of the problem, should RU blindly make investments based purely on identity which would undoubtedly come at the expense of some other areas which were benefitting the majority of students?

  • “This list is not littered with quantitative data or studies of peer institutions. Rather, we decided to use this moment in history to give a social statement.

Since the students freely admit that they haven’t done the homework, we decided to do it for them. Luckily for RU, they are well ahead of the pack and have grounds for congratulation, not censure.

First, College Factual (CF) notes that RU scores well above average for diversity in gender, ethnicity and geographic location. CF ranks RU a Top 5% university for diversity.

Diversity

Second, the enrolled student population at Rice University is as follows. Whites are the largest cohort but not the majority:

Undergrad

Third, the faculty staff at Rice University is as follows:

faculty

In short, white faculty staff are the majority but lower than their population cohort. Compare this to around 80% in high schools in America.

According to the 2017 data, in terms of graduation rates at RU, black females complete their degrees (95.3% vs 88.9% in 2012) at a higher level than whites (94% vs 92.1% in 2012). Hispanic women have a graduation rate of 97% (vs 94.5% in 2012) and Asian women 98.9% (vs 97.9% in 2012). Native Americans had a 100% pass rate. No evidence of racial profiling by teachers.

For men in 2017, in terms of graduation rates at RU, black males complete their degrees (76.9% vs 84.2% in 2012) at a lower level than whites (89.8% vs 90.4% in 2012). Hispanic men have a graduation rate of 86.7% (vs 90.9% in 2012) and Asian men 91.8% (vs 95.7% in 2012). Why have men across all cohorts seen a lower level of pass rates?

There is little evidence that systemic racism is working against students of colour. If the students are triggered by the university’s history, removing a statue won’t change the fact that it was founded by a slave owner. No doubt these students picked RU for its curriculum and the opportunities that will flow from that, which clearly in their minds supersede its past to study there.

In summary, it is concerning to see more of this tribalism be pushed in society, especially when the evidence is so inconclusive.  The biggest lesson these kids need to learn that merit, hard work and learning from history are far more important skillsets in the real world than lodging complaints that the equal treatment the institution appears to be showing is somehow discriminatory and that only special treatment will fix it.

Nancy Pelosi cancels the history of Congress

Image may contain: 1 person, standing and indoor

Despite Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi being in office for over three decades, she has finally deemed that the portraits of Speakers who served in the Confederacy be removed. She made the following statement:

Ahead of tomorrow’s Juneteenth observances, the portraits of four previous Speakers who served in the Confederacy have been removed from the walls of the U.S. Capitol under the supervision of House Clerk Cheryl Johnson. The halls of Congress are the very heart of our democracy. Allowing men who embody the bigotry and racism of the Confederacy to be honored within them sets back our nation’s work to confront and combat bigotry wherever it appears.

Why now, Nancy?

Yet more pathetic virtue signalling which is 100% based on the politics of identity and zero to do with those she claims to be helping. And we thought the kneeling with Kente scarves was nauseating enough…who knew that race politics had seasons? Anyone would think an election was around the corner??

We say again, even if one hated Trump, how can anyone think the Democrats are a credible alternative with pathetic stunts like this?

Joe Biden is Joe Biden

Nancy Pelosi unsurprisingly endorsed Joe Biden and was only too pleased to show her happiness. How quick the Democrats were to run with the “believe all women” argument during the Brett Kavanaugh hearings. All of a sudden, due process matters. Believe all women? Only when it serves one’s political interests.

Joe Biden is Joe Biden.” What else matters?

Babylon Bee decided to pre-empt Pelosi’s little presser by publishing the following parody.

Democratic presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden was cleared in federal court today of charges that some claimed were based upon credible allegations of sexual assault when the judge quickly realized that Joe Biden was not a Republican.

“Well, this looks pretty serious… let’s see who is on—wait a minute. He’s a Democrat! I can find no fault with him,” declared a fourth circuit federal judge hearing preliminary claims.

“It is well established in this court that Republicans are the ones who want to silence women and control their bodies. Haven’t you seen The Handmaid’s Tale?” the judge further added before banging down the gavel.”

“This is a victory for the judicial standard in our country of assuming the accused are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law,” stated Alyssa Milano. “We always need to maintain this standard of maintaining silence and withholding judgment on such cases when it is convenient and maintains our narratives.”

Yesterday, Alyssa Milano actually wrote a piece where she said that she supported Joe Biden despite believing in the allegations, mixed in with a dig at the white patriarchy. She wrote,

It falls upon women to navigate within the system of men’s design to make pragmatic choices that we hope will lead us to a more equal future. I still support Joe Biden because I believe that’s the best choice for that future, and again it is not up to women to absolve perpetrators. How do progressive women choose between the pussy grabber in chief who has done so much damage to our country and a man who has allegations made against him?…

…The allegations against Joe Biden concern me, deeply. He’s a man I know, respect, and admire, and who I can’t picture doing any of the things of which he’s accused. But I’ve thought that before, and been wrong. And sexual assault is always wrong.

So much for the #METOO movement she led. How happy she was to sit with a face of thunder during the Kavanaugh hearings. Then again hypocrisy and Hollywood go hand in hand.

Who could forget when Trump’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star was vandalized and then removed?

“The resolution on which the West Hollywood City Council voted urged the removal of Mr. Trump’s star “due to his disturbing treatment of women and other actions that do not meet the shared values of the City of West Hollywood, the region, state, and country.

Yet the response of Hollywood to now convicted rapist Bill Cosby was,

“In response, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce released a statement politely asking fans not to deface anyone’s stars, no matter how many rapes they may be accused of: “When people are unhappy with one of our honorees, we would hope that they would project their anger in more positive ways.

Except if they are Republicans.

Media runs the ‘sexist’ narrative but in their derangement miss the ‘racist’ one

So typical of the mainstream media. The White House press corps show very little respect for the office. While admittedly Trump can act in an unpresidential fashion at times, it doesn’t condone the media talking over him when he is trying to respond. CBS News’ Weijia Jiang kept interrupting his answer and he called her out on not knowing her topic other than the narrative she wanted to employ.

So typical of the media to play the ‘sexism’ card but we were surprised they didn’t try to drag in the ‘racism’ card due to her ethnicity. The truth is that other reporters, regardless of their genitalia, get roasted on a daily basis. His most frequent whipping boy is Jim Acosta from CNN. Can we get some perspective?

Here are the headlines from the media in response to the Jiang clip:

“‘Keep your voice down’: Trump has another confrontation with a reporter at coronavirus briefing”USA Today

With no good response for his lost month of coronavirus preparation, Trump snaps at another female reporter” – Washington Post

How Dare You” – CNN’s John King

Dana Bash calls out Trump’s treatment of female reporters” – CNN

“’Keep your voice down’: Trump berates female reporter when questioned over Covid-19 response” – The Guardian

‘Just relax’: Trump repeatedly tells female reporter to keep her voice down during coronavirus briefing” – The Independent

It goes on and on.

Is it too hard to work out why trust in the media is at all-time lows? Just as Bill Maher pointed out yesterday, the mainstream media are handing him the election on a platter because they are too busy finding fault with sensationalist headlines rather than publishing news items which show that the actual outcomes are way better than the apocalyptic projections. Hospital bed capacity is well under-utilized but the media can’t help but quote North Hollywood event planners to get sensationalist headlines. Truly pathetic.

As Napoleon once said, “never interrupt an enemy when he is making mistakes.” For years we have been saying the best way to suck the wind out of Trump’s sails is to stop reporting about him. Yet all they end up doing is giving him 24-7 coverage for free. Who needs Bloomberg’s millions for advertising? The mainstream media are so stupid they don’t even know they are being punked. After 4 years they still haven’t learned. If a ‘p*ssy grabber‘ can get elected with that comment on the ticket, it sort of says that the public isn’t looking to him for tips on moral redemption.

Yael Stone forgets that the scheduled flights will still take off

Image result for yael stone"

Yet more moral preening from celebrities. While Yael Stone might think such virtue signalling has a purpose, she needs to get to grips with the fact that the scheduled flights between the US and Australia will still be taking off, with or without her. Did she miss Ricky Gervais’ Golden Globes introduction?

Her net impact is likely to be a number so close to zero so we thought we’d assist with the maths before she pulls the plug.

280 million trips were made by commercial aircraft last year according to the IATA. Her one way trip to Australia would mean she represents represent 0.000000357% of all annual flights taken.

Given that airlines, by the IATA’s own stats, annually produce the equivalent to 2% of all man-made emissions or 0.000016% of the total CO2 in the atmosphere, her flight would make up around 0.0000000000057%.

The Boeing 777-300ER that would likely carry her has a maximum take-off weight of 351,000kg. Let’s assume she weighs 50kg and carries 50kg of luggage. Her impact on the pilot’s fuel calculations would be 0.0028%.

Overall her “skin in the game” as she calls it, would result in a 0.0000000000000022344% personal impact on flight shaming based CO2 emissions.

FNF Media strongly advises she reads the 20-year forecast from Boeing.

Demand in the commercial market is forecast to more than double in the next two decades. To meet this demand…the number of jet airplanes in service nearly doubling to 50,660.

#TurnArdern

Although she is the high priestess of woke and a darling of the left, it seems not all New Zealanders are fans of their PM Jacinda Ardern.

A new Twitter hashtag, #TurnArdern, has emerged which encourages people to flip over magazine covers adorned with her face.

It was started by a 66-yo bricklayer, Colin Wilson, from Christchurch who said,

People are sick and tired of all the fluff articles – people want a prime minister and not a fashion model…A lot of us feel she spends a lot of time doing photo shoots instead of running the country.”

While the mainstream media lavishes praise on her, her domestic record is dreadful.

30km/h speed limits will fix gender inequality

As part of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), Australia is being asked to lower urban speed limits to 30km/h from 50km/h. At that speed, the new light rail project from Circular Quay to Randwick will feel like a bullet train by comparison.

Instead of looking forward and embracing automated driving and all manner of assisted driving technology (emergency braking, lane departure assist etc) the brains trust at the UN thinks progress on road safety will be achieved by looking solely in the rear view mirror.

Why not focus on mobile phone usage behind the wheel or stopping drug and drink driving? At 30km/h, these boneheads think fewer emissions will be emitted. Cars, like trains or aircraft become more efficient at certain speeds. Slower speeds don’t always lower emissions. Top Gear conducted a test where a BMW M3 high performance sports car was more fuel efficient than a Toyota Prius.

Forget all that, The Stockholm Declaration will call upon us to buy “safe and sustainable vehicle fleets” so we can address “the connections between road safety, mental and physical health, development, education, equity, gender equality, environment and climate change”.

Who knew driving at 30km/h could achieve so much? Lowering to zero would eradicate it, no doubt!
