Woke

Australia Day – feel free to have your own minute’s silence

It is that time of the year again. Australia Day. Time for the woke brigade to shame any Aussies thinking of firing up the BBQ and sinking a few beers with friends and family. If some people don’t want to celebrate it, then they’re free not to. But what is the point of making people feel guilty for something they didn’t do to people they never knew 150 years before many were born?

Our local member in the House of Reps, Zali Steggall OAM, has called for a minute’s silence on Australia Day. By all means, if she feels that way, she should go right ahead and make her personal statement. Just quit the vacuous virtue signaling.

We’ll dismiss it with the same out-of-touch “Roadmap to Zero” program she has running in Warringah. You know, the climate change virtue signaling page where well over 98.5% of households in the electorate haven’t even bothered to sign up, despite her insistence that the gas guzzling SUV drivers of Mosman elected her to put a stop to climate change.

When are we going to drop this shaming every year? Why is Cricket Australia (CA) now buying into woke antics, especially that of a foreigners violent Marxist group? Can anyone in CA management point to any data or conclusive studies which prove the lives of indigenous Australians will improve by dropping the name or the date? Surely all 365 days of the year should be deemed invasion day if January 26th is considered so reprehensible.

Cricket Australia’s Mel Jones said, “We’ve got five Indigenous players playing those games and a lot of Indigenous fans that come to the cricket, we just want to make this space as safe and inclusive as possible.”

What could be more inclusive than watching cricket over a few beers? Surely CA’s focus should be on winning after the drubbing against India but toxic identity politics is front and centre. Wallabies anyone?

Honestly, can CA identify the fans by name who feel triggered when they voluntarily pay hard-earned coin to watch cricket matches? The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island flags adorn major cricket venues. Every game. Is that not inclusive?

But why can’t those who want to change the date get the facts straight on Australia Day?

Australia Day is celebrated on the 26th January for a very good reason.

The First Fleet arrived in Botany Bay on the 20th of January and an expedition party was sent to Port Jackson on the 22nd of January with the rest of the fleet following on the 26th of January. So the “day” Australia was technically invaded was almost a week prior.

On January 26th, 1949, Australian nationality came into existence when the Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948 was enacted. That was the day we were first called Australians and allowed to travel with passports as Australians rather than British subjects. Hence Australia Day was officially born and celebrated.

Under the Nationality Act 1920 (Cth), all Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders born after January 1, 1921, gained the status of British subjects. In 1949, therefore, they automatically became Australian citizens under the Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948.

So for all the protestors and virtue signaling groups trying to win woke points, perhaps they should spend that minute silence learning the actual dates of what they’re protesting.

Maybe Aussies can strike a deal. Will the activists promise that they’ll stop protesting forever on this issue if the date is changed to one of their choosing? Of course they can’t. Moving the date would embolden the mob to push more grievance politics. Remember that many of the protestors don’t represent the majority of the people they claim to represent. As is usually the case with most protestors.

The overwhelming majority of Aussies are fair minded people aware of their history. The government is so aware that those minority groups are paid 6% of the national budget, twice the level of their representative population. Every year. Shame on Cricket Australia. Stick to the core product and stop telling the fans how they should participate when they part with cold hard cash.

Petition to change name of Glasgow Prestwick Airport to Joe Biden

A petition has been doing the rounds to change the name of Glasgow Prestwick Airport to ‘Joe Biden’ as former President Trump often uses the terminal due to its close proximity to his golf resort.

Should every city, town or airport that hosts a Trump property nearby change the name of an important landmark? Maybe rename the street of the entrance to Trump’s resort to Joe Biden Blvd? Should balloons shaped in the form of Trump in diapers be flown permanently above the town square just to rub it in his face until he is no longer alive?

As much as the left hate Donald Trump, when will the derangement end?

Yet it isn’t just about him. This isn’t a joke. It’s an extension of cancel culture which seeks to punish those the mob disagrees with.

My Pillow founder, Michael J Lindell, has had several large retail stores stop selling his merchandise because of his support of Trump. Many other brands have caved to the mob for the same reason – cowardice.

Instead of letting individual consumers decide for themselves, weak corporates are kneeling at the altar of wokeness, afraid to be cancelled by a bunch of fringe activists who aren’t likely to be customers anyway. We hope My Pillow sales boom online. Or will USPS, FedEx or UPS refuse to ship his goods down the line?

We were astonished to see a group of companies publicly denounce the Capitol riots. For the love of God, when people saw the despicable act of a few people overestimating their agency, did the names Toyota, GM or Pfizer pop into the heads of anyone as being related in any way? We’re guessing not but why did these corporates self-appoint themselves as moral guardians? Goodyear is hardly a bastion of balance when its HR pushed radical leftist training completely unrelated to the tyre business.

Why didn’t the PGA grow a spine and say that Trump’s course would provide the best golf. Do they honestly believe they’d lose a single fan? Pushing back works as proven by RedBull and Goya.

While the Prestwick Airport stunt might appear like a decent Scottish joke it is nothing more than an extension of cancel culture. For as much as the left scream about equality, compassion and fairness, they seem to want to hound Trump to his grave. Guess what, this will only embolden his supporters who are growing ever more weary of the deliberate suppression of free speech and ability to have a voice.

To the cancel culture, unity only comes from coerced conformity and every time a corporate caves, it emboldens them to go in even harder.

Be careful what you wish for.

Marxist diversity training in Missouri schools

You can’t make this up.

A few weeks ago it was San Diego schools accusing white teachers of being racist. Then a teacher at a Cupertino school was indoctrinating 8yos in a maths class – of all the subjects to conduct it – about deconstructing their own race and accepting their privilege.

Now Cherokee Middle School in Springfield, Missouri made teachers undergo a diversity training program that forced educators to locate themselves on an “oppression matrix” and watch a video of “George Floyd’s last words.”

The diversity trainers, Jeremy Sullivan and Myki Williamson (LinkedIn profile here), both white, asked teachers to acknowledge they were on stolen land and “the dark history and violence against Native and Indigenous People” at the start of proceedings.

The trainers then provided teachers a hand out on the aforementioned “oppression matrix,” which defines white heterosexual males as the “privileged social group” and women, minorities, transgender, and LGBT people as “oppressed social groups.

Teachers identified at the top of the totem pole were told they are responsible for the “racism, sexism, transgender oppression, heterosexism, [and] classism” against minorities who are less fortunate.

Then the concepts of overt and covert white supremacy were introduced. A document claimed that “lynching, hate crimes, KKK, neo-Nazis, [and] burning crosses” are “socially unacceptable” forms of white supremacy, while “education funding from property tax, colorblindness, calling the police on black people, BIPOC as Halloween costumes, not believing experiences of BIPOC, tone policing, [and] white silence” are “socially acceptable” forms of white supremacy.

As if this wasn’t bad enough, white teachers were forced to actively vocalize confessions about their role in white supremacy as a form of “affirmative consent.” To remain (white) silent was a form of “white supremacy.”

One has to wonder whether those teachers who have been happy to indoctrinate kids with their political biases are now regretting that now the system is now coming for them.

What a disaster to know that kids are being brainwashed by teachers who are now forced to sit through Marxist re-education seminars. School boards should be sacked for allowing such training courses to be tolerated. Alas, activism in the classroom has replaced education.

So much for a platform of unity. Conform or be cancelled, bigots!

The poison of identity politics. By the tenets of the teachings, a white heterosexual homeless man is more privileged than a transgender POC earning $150,000pa.

Got it?

Another reason I don’t read The Ecommunist (in pictures)

There was a time when I used to enjoy a business trip abroad. That would enable me to hoover every word in The Economist. From cover to cover. It was great reading. And informative. I always knew I would learn something interesting. Punchy journalism that was well researched and entertained both sides of an argument.

Now it is little more than an activist rag. It hates Trump (even before he took office). Every second article seems to be about climate change or another social justice topic du jour. Anti-Brexit. Anti-America First. Anti-coal. Anti-Tory. Pro-China. Pro-Corbyn. Pro 16-yo kids getting voting rights. Pro-globalism. Check out these covers over the last 5 or so years.

If one thing rings absolutely true, we should never judge a magazine by its cover. Hint: And The Economist has always published excellent covers.

The socialist ‘Red Flag‘ magazine should be livid that The Economist has encroached on its turf. From the top of the journalism totem pole towards the bottom in a little over a decade, exacerbated by Trump’s term in office.

Media already holding new administration to account

While the mainstream media released starving lions every time a Trump administration official was interviewed, just look at the fluffy miniature poodles set upon VP-elect Kamala Harris in this catch up.

Surely America has been waiting to know more about Harris’ sneakers than what she will do with her vote in the hung Senate!

Should the Coons be Cheesed Off?

More gutless corporate pandering to the mob. We wrote about the plan to change the brand name of ‘Coon‘ cheese last year.

The cheese was named after its American maker, Edward William Coon, 85 years ago.

It has now been changed to ‘Cheer.’

In our view, the marketers should be fired for a lack of creativity. About as useless as the PR team of parent company Saputo.

Why didn’t Saputo write about the origins of Coon on the packet? Seems sensible to educate those woke fringe groups who take umbrage at everything.

Instead, the Saputo CEO gave the all too common cave in to the cancel culture by stating,

Treating people with respect and without discrimination is one of our basic principles and is is imperative that we continue to uphold this in everything we do.”

Hasn’t the food producer disrespected the 31 families bearing that surname in Australia?

Should the Coons be pressured to change their surname to Cheer? What better way to accumulate woke points with the apparatchiks than getting the Coons to renounce their origins. Why not hold a ceremony named Day 1, Year 0 where the families publicly apologize for unconscious racism and beg for forgiveness.

Perhaps Saputo can pay for all the legal costs associated with changing drivers licenses, passports, Medicare and all other manner of documentation so the dairy company can revel in even more vacuous virtue signaling so the PR department can justify having a role.

Down the line, we would love to see the empirical data on how the lives of those the name change is designed to improve have been bettered. Apart from absolutely zero, we imagine the only declining figure experienced will be the revenue line.

Another corporate own goal.

Perhaps Saputo should look at those brands who have stood up to the faux outrage groups – GoyaRed Bull – and won.

Three Cheers for the cowards.

Phew, Glad Twitter cleared that up!

Oh, the irony!

Twitter’s public policy page has doth protested Ugandan ISPs blocking social media ahead of an election.

Didn’t Twitter actively engage in suppressing the NY Post’s expose of Hunter Biden‘s laptop ahead of the US presidential election?

Thank God we have Twitter defending the free speech & human rights of Ugandans before Americans.

So powerful have Big Tech companies become that they don’t even require a phone call from politicians to censor the opposition. It is decided by their own commissars.

Glad we cleared that up. Time for the UN to appoint Twitter to the chair of the Human Rights Commission without delay. Twitter should nominate Kathy Griffin given her unwavering balance.

PGA announces 2022 switch to Pyongyang GC from Trump National

The Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of America has decided to sever ties with President Donald Trump after voting to take the PGA Championship event from his Bedminster, New Jersey golf course, Trump National in 2022.

PGA CEO Seth Waugh said, “We find ourselves in a political situation not of our making…We’re fiduciaries for our members, for the game, for our mission and for our brand. And how do we best protect that? Our feeling was given the tragic events of Wednesday that we could no longer hold it at Bedminster. The damage could have been irreparable. The only real course of action was to leave.”

Unconfirmed sources say that the front runner to replace the 2022 event could be the Pyongyang Golf Course in North Korea.

The PGA is believed to have received tacit approval from Big Tech companies to move forward with the event only if Kim Jong-un promises not to invite Trump as his guest. The rationale is believed to be because Kim is Trump’s last friend on earth. Being snubbed by the North Korean dictator is understood to be the best way for the PGA to get the maximum woke points necessary to prove they’ve moved heaven and earth to appease the cancel culture mob and protect their brand.

Kim was reported to have told CEO Waugh, “how can you humiliate Trump if he is no longer able to get my tweets?” Sources close to Twitter have confirmed that Jack Dorsey is considering reinstating Trump’s account for 6 hours as an act of compassion and to show conservatives that the platform is an advocate for free speech.

A senior Antifa spokesman, Lance Brick, said that he was surprised to hear of the PGA move as none of his members play golf. Brick said, “Look, none of us really like golf so the PGA was never on our radar. Thanks to the CEO’s public statement we have realised we didn’t know what we didn’t know. After an emergency plenary session, we have decided to refocus our energies on looting golf pro shops and demanding the PGA reveal which golf courses are steeped in the white patriarchy and burn those clubhouses to the ground, lest we turn our rage on them.”

Acolytes in the mainstream media have reportedly welcomed the discussions, noting potential offsite opportunities with North Korean state media to improve their delivery back at home.

NY legislator’s loony plans to detain people for 2 months if they pose health risk

MRCTV’s Britt Hughes discusses NY’s latest plans to forcibly detain people for 2 months without a court order on suspicion of contracting or having come in contact with anyone inflected with COVID or another deadly/infectious disease.

When will people start pushing back on this nonsense?

Then again NY is no stranger to out of touch officials when it comes to handling COVID.

Three things spring to mind.

1) NY Gov Andrew Cuomo accepted the International Emmy Founders Award for his COVID19 response. Woke celebrities then lavished him with praise in a completely out of touch cringe fest.

The International Emmy Awards tweeted,

Gov Andrew M Cuomo of NY will receive the International Emmy Founders Award in recognition of his leadership during the Covid19 pandemic & his masterful use of TV to inform & calm people around the world.

How telling that the Emmy’s focused on delivery as opposed to results.

How ironic that Cuomo not only laid claim to the most disastrous COVID19 stats of any state but mandated COVID positive patients into nursing homes which directly led to the deaths of 6,000 elderly residents. Don’t tell anyone they conducted their own ‘independent audit’ and found the government not at fault. Who knew?

2) NY Health Commissioner Oxiris Barbot openly welcomed BLM protests despite the lockdowns. Mark D Levine, Chairman, NYC Council health committee, went more woke stating, “Let’s be clear about something: if there is a spike in coronavirus cases in the next two weeks, don’t blame the protesters. Blame racism,

3) or NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio’s wife doing a cringeworthy ‘stay at home’ unity dance despite NY businesses getting destroyed.

Making hay while the rain falls?

We were surprised to see Dymocks bookstore put former Australian Climate Change Commissioner Tim Flannery’s latest book in the science section.

Amazon’s review notes, “Tim Flannery takes aim at those responsible for the campaign of obfuscation and denial that has already cost so many Australian lives and held back action on climate change.” Really?

Exactly how many lives has climate change claimed in Australia? The Australian Bureau of Statistics record the accumulated deaths from ‘Environmental-pollution-related-condition (Y97)‘ over the last decade at ZERO!!!!  Strange that climate related deaths have plunged over 80% in the last 4 decades.

Many of Flannery’s climate predictions have also failed to eventuate.

In 2007, Flannery said, “So even the rain that falls isn’t actually going to fill our dams and our river systems…” Today, Sydney’s main water supply at Warragamba Dam is currently at 97.8% capacity.

In 2015, he claimed that “Sadly we’re more likely to see them [cyclones] more frequently in the future” when referring to a cyclone that hit Vanuatu. Global data shows no such trends. The UNIPCC’s extreme weather report updated in 2018 stated on page 8, “There is low confidence in any observed long-term (i.e., 40 years or more) increases in tropical cyclone activity (i.e., intensity, frequency, duration), after accounting for past changes in observing capabilities.”

We thought the nonsense peddled on the bushfires by The Climate Council, which Flannery chairs, spoke volumes. Our data concluded that one of its authors, who led the former fire chiefs’ crusade to blame the devastating bushfires on climate change, didn’t mention the topic when he ran one of the fire services. That is to say it that the severity of climate change to bushfire activity in these Magnus opera were conspicuous by their absence.

We think the upcoming 2020 annual reports from fire services across Australia will be dripping in climate change related topics which will only end up highlighting how it has become nothing more than a CYA convenient excuse to mask years of poor fire management.  Take this example of the commitment to mitigating the inherent risks of busfires in the 2018/19 FRNSW Annual Report:

“Where practicable, FRNSW crews were encouraged to turn off all non-essential lights on 30 March 2019 from 8:30pm until 9:30pm, joining millions of people worldwide in showing their commitment to tackling climate change and inspiring all generations to support environmental initiatives and sustainable climate policy.”

A study of how fire service budgets were allocated in recent years further highlights the alarming problem behind the bureaucratic mismanagement.

What has become even less surprising than the lack of science peddled before us surrounding COVID-19 in recent months, is the convenient segue of supposed conventional wisdom – The Great Reset – pointing back to the fantastic opportunity to push the climate change agenda to solve for poverty, racial inequity and all other economic ills. After all, US Treasury Secretary-elect Janet Yellen has assured us her department will take care of it. Who knew?

Apart from climate change having zero correlation to COVID-19, despite Prince Harry ‘s best efforts to conflate the link, Tim Flannery has seen a great opportunity to make a quid off the theme. No harm in making hay while the rain pours.

Still we question why so many climate alarmists believe that replacing fossil fuels with renewables will solve for saving the planet and put an end to poverty?

We are not sure how that works?

When one of the leading renewables-driven developed nations, Germany, has such high levels of energy poverty, how can this be?  In 2019, 4.75 million households received warnings that their electricity would be shut off (289,000 actually got disconnected), according to the German Federal Networks Agency (Bundesnetzagentur). All this because of a doubling of energy prices (despite studies that predicted a fall at the time of policy conception) which are a direct result of disastrous green energy diktats which started two decades ago.

The flip side is India, a developing nation. Its electricity generation policies,  according to the World Bank, lifted 271 million people out of energy poverty between 2007 and 2017 largely thanks to low priced coal-fired power. So before all the ‘Stop Adani’ climate emergency extinction rebellion crowd start pontificating that we must go carbon neutral, perhaps they might go and survey the 271mn locals as to whether they demand change??

Michael Shellenberger’s latest book, ‘Apocalypse Never‘, takes a realistic view of how to achieve optimal outcomes for the climate, renewables not being part of the equation.

Still, the best way to truly evaluate the seriousness of climate change is by watching the consumption habits of those who peddle it.

We always found it strange that Obama moved to the shores of Martha’s Vineyard last year despite the risk of rising sea levels. Former Aussie PM Kevin Rudd has also bought waterfront property recently despite climate change being the “moral challenge of our times.

Looking at 1,500 private jets clogging airports at a World Economic Forum summit takes some beating too, not to mention the 25,000 pilgrims that fly halfway across the world to attend COP summits and then tell mothers who drop their kids off at soccer practice in a 2nd-hand SUV that they are the problem. No excuses anymore. They can Zoom. 25,000 group thinkers on a screen…their individual relevance in direct proportion to the size of their microscopic avatar.
