Multiculturalism

Maybe parents should set the market wage of teachers

Forgive us a brief preamble. You’ll understand why our title is as it is. Buckle up.

We’ve long been a fan of North Carolina Lt.Gov Mark D. Robinson even before he took office.

He came to notoriety when confronting his local council over its lunatic policies around gun controls. He proclaimed, “when are you going to start sticking up for the majority? Because I’m the majority!

It just so happens a teacher from a NC public school drew a cartoon where the main character represented the GOP members of the state school board dressed in a Klan robe because it rejected left-wing proposals to the curriculum. Despite those board members including a black man and a Native American woman who had to deal the KKK personally, the local paper decided to publish it anyway.

The media outlet’s excuse after it was admonished for the cartoon was an utter embarrassment. Sorry, not sorry.

Editorial cartoons are creative and provocative, using hyperbole and satire. No one believes Republicans on the State Board of Education are members of the Ku Klux Klan…

Robinson was livid when he pointed to the hypocrisy. Not at the expression of free speech but the double standards of a media outlet having such poor taste to publish something like it.

What is more, he wasn’t condemning the teacher’s right to express free speech but his concern at the clear bias shown by a teacher who controls a classroom.

In recent posts we’ve pointed out the critical race theory indoctrination taught to 8-yo kids that is flourishing in public schools across America.

White teachers are having to take anti-racism classes to atone for their skin colour and the privileges it has bestowed on them.

Some parents have openly pushed back on this craziness being taught in the classroom, especially to younger kids.

It has now gone to DEFCON 1 in the Washington DC school district (DCSD) with the introduction of the Marxist BLM manifesto into the school curriculum.

We’ve spent some time watching the “teachers help guide” videos so you don’t need to suffer the drone.

When we hear teachers, who also identify as activists, describe the current education environment as akin to working in a concentration camp surrounded by gas chambers (scroll to 1hr 11min here in the ‘Black Lives Matter at school’ video) we really wonder about what type of education is being thrust on impressionable school kids?!

The BLM curriculum includes 13 distinct guiding principles ranging from ditching the nuclear family and relying on “villages” to raise kids all the way to identity based segregation theory and transgender classes.

Endorsers of the project include Black Women Radicals, the Washington Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs and the Washington Teachers Union. Can you feel the balance?

The ultimate irony is that despite all of the claims of systemic racism in the ‘educational’ videos and documents, the DCSD is living proof to the data it proudly published highlighting the importance of the course to prevent it. 69% of DCSD principals are black. Doesn’t sound like the DC education system has held them back.

On the flip side, harsh realities must be dealt with. Truancy and chronic absenteeism (pre COVID) in DC continued to climb to 30% of all students in 2018-2019. Isn’t that a bigger issue for educators than ramming Marxist ideology down the throats of the 70% that attend class?

Recall our piece on Baltimore high schools. Despite four of the 13 schools in the city receiving the highest levels of funding per student in the country, maths proficiency is at ZERO percent. That isn’t a misprint. Doesn’t that seem like a teaching problem?

As we said in the title, perhaps parents should be setting the market price for teachers’ salaries based on their ability to educate kids in a balanced and open manner. Not one wrapped around the personal ideological beliefs of those given a duty of care for the very students they are responsible for.

Perhaps these teachers should have polled the parents before embarking on curriculums like these which seek to brain wash kids as early as possible.

We anticipate these teachers know just how poorly received by “the majority” they would be. Best just ram it through without questions because freedom is slavery. War is peace and up is down. Got it?

Hence, we think teachers should be remunerated on improved results in maths, English and science rather than working hard to disassociate students from their families into the bosom of the state.

Teachers have a right to believe their own politics. They don’t have a mandate to force feed young kids with it.

Note that the 1619 Project is the next round of bonkers ideology being thrust into the national educational curriculum across the 50 states.

Forget unity with this type of racially driven identity politics.

Welcome to Biden’s America.

Australia Day – feel free to have your own minute’s silence

It is that time of the year again. Australia Day. Time for the woke brigade to shame any Aussies thinking of firing up the BBQ and sinking a few beers with friends and family. If some people don’t want to celebrate it, then they’re free not to. But what is the point of making people feel guilty for something they didn’t do to people they never knew 150 years before many were born?

Our local member in the House of Reps, Zali Steggall OAM, has called for a minute’s silence on Australia Day. By all means, if she feels that way, she should go right ahead and make her personal statement. Just quit the vacuous virtue signaling.

We’ll dismiss it with the same out-of-touch “Roadmap to Zero” program she has running in Warringah. You know, the climate change virtue signaling page where well over 98.5% of households in the electorate haven’t even bothered to sign up, despite her insistence that the gas guzzling SUV drivers of Mosman elected her to put a stop to climate change.

When are we going to drop this shaming every year? Why is Cricket Australia (CA) now buying into woke antics, especially that of a foreigners violent Marxist group? Can anyone in CA management point to any data or conclusive studies which prove the lives of indigenous Australians will improve by dropping the name or the date? Surely all 365 days of the year should be deemed invasion day if January 26th is considered so reprehensible.

Cricket Australia’s Mel Jones said, “We’ve got five Indigenous players playing those games and a lot of Indigenous fans that come to the cricket, we just want to make this space as safe and inclusive as possible.”

What could be more inclusive than watching cricket over a few beers? Surely CA’s focus should be on winning after the drubbing against India but toxic identity politics is front and centre. Wallabies anyone?

Honestly, can CA identify the fans by name who feel triggered when they voluntarily pay hard-earned coin to watch cricket matches? The Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island flags adorn major cricket venues. Every game. Is that not inclusive?

But why can’t those who want to change the date get the facts straight on Australia Day?

Australia Day is celebrated on the 26th January for a very good reason.

The First Fleet arrived in Botany Bay on the 20th of January and an expedition party was sent to Port Jackson on the 22nd of January with the rest of the fleet following on the 26th of January. So the “day” Australia was technically invaded was almost a week prior.

On January 26th, 1949, Australian nationality came into existence when the Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948 was enacted. That was the day we were first called Australians and allowed to travel with passports as Australians rather than British subjects. Hence Australia Day was officially born and celebrated.

Under the Nationality Act 1920 (Cth), all Aborigines and Torres Strait Islanders born after January 1, 1921, gained the status of British subjects. In 1949, therefore, they automatically became Australian citizens under the Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948.

So for all the protestors and virtue signaling groups trying to win woke points, perhaps they should spend that minute silence learning the actual dates of what they’re protesting.

Maybe Aussies can strike a deal. Will the activists promise that they’ll stop protesting forever on this issue if the date is changed to one of their choosing? Of course they can’t. Moving the date would embolden the mob to push more grievance politics. Remember that many of the protestors don’t represent the majority of the people they claim to represent. As is usually the case with most protestors.

The overwhelming majority of Aussies are fair minded people aware of their history. The government is so aware that those minority groups are paid 6% of the national budget, twice the level of their representative population. Every year. Shame on Cricket Australia. Stick to the core product and stop telling the fans how they should participate when they part with cold hard cash.

The Left attacks the peacenik

You have to hand it to the modern left. Before he was elected, Hillary Clinton said we needed to worry about his access to the nuclear codes. The media ran wild with the narrative. Unhinged psychiatrists wrote a book on the danger. We wrote about their lack of professionalism and breach of the Hippocratic oath.

Yet 4 years later Trump has brokered significant peace deals and is in danger of being the first president in four decades not to start a war. Even Obama attacked Libya.

Now the left is criticizing Trump’s nomination for a Nobel peace prize by a conservative Norwegian politician. He is far more deserving than Obama who basically was awarded one for basically nothing of note.

Why can’t we just accept that Trump has done some remarkable things on the foreign policy front. Israel/UAE (Bahrain to follow), crossing the DMZ in North Korea instead of looking from behind a bulletproof glass partition. Serbia is about to move its embassy to Jerusalem following Trump who finally did what multiple presidents put off.

A sensible nominee and most certainly a deserved winner and one which would restore the award’s status after giving it to Obama for basically being elected.

One doesn’t have to like Trump for his vulgarity and caustic tongue but he has gotten results.

Fauxcahontas to speak at the DNC Native American Caucus

Unbelievable.

Despite the fact Senator Elizabeth Warren was forced to apologize to the Cherokee nation after discovering in a DNA test she was 1/1024th Native American, the DNC are hyping her to speak at the DNC ‘Native American Caucus.’ What a joke. Do Democrats not see how this hypocrisy hurts their cause? Surely every Native American is well aware of her appropriation of their ancestry to advance her career?

When immersed in so much woke, no wonder the jokes write themselves.

Bye-bye Nancy? SF home listings up 96%

It seems that San Francisco residents are looking to leave in droves. Zillow report a record surge in listings, up 96%

SF Gate noted,

Online real estate company Zillow released new statistics shining a stark light on the issue this week. Their “2020 Urban-Suburban Market Report” reveals that inventory has risen a whopping 96% year-on-year, as empty homes in the city flood the market like nowhere else in America.

The reason for this change is likely a combination of a few unprecedented factors that have collided this summer, resulting in a historic shift in the city.

Zillow economist Josh Clark told SFGATE that the remote work shift alone has not sparked the exodus.

“It may be tempting to credit the city of San Francisco’s inventory boom to the advent of remote work that came with the pandemic, but one only has to look at to San Jose to question that narrative,” Clark said. “The San Jose metro, which like the city of SF is dominated by tech workers, has not seen a similar rise. Two things that could drive the difference are San Francisco’s density and its smaller share of family households.

Or maybe it’s the political class who have failed to solve homelessness and happily decriminalize public defecation on the streets. Yes, the city council thinks an app that allows residents to pinpoint human feces to alert cleaning squads is progress.

Kamala Harris supported fund which bailed out criminals

Joe Biden’s running mate Kamala Harris might have some explaining to do. She was rather eager to get people to sponsor the Minnesota Freedom Fund (MFF) which has provided bail for those who have been accused of crimes such as murder, rape and assault.

MFF put up $100,000 bail for Darnika Floyd, who was charged with second-degree murder for stabbing a friend to death. $350,000 for Christopher Boswell, who is facing sexual assault and kidnapping charges. Jaleel Stallings, accused of shooting at police during the May riots, was bailed out by MFF for $75,000. Donovan Boone, charged with invading the home of his ex-girlfriend and choking her, was bailed out for $3,000.

Although she has shown to be tough on crime during her career, we guess Harris is a bigger supporter of civil disorder now that it is politically expedient.

If the left didn’t have double standards they’d have no standards at all.

Bob Lefsetz lets rip on Democrats pick

Bob Lefsetz has a very fluid writing style. We encourage you to subscribe.

He is no fan of Trump but today he let rip on the Democrats for playing defensively.

He opened with,

“I don’t get it.

She excoriates Biden in the debates and suddenly he picks her as his running mate? This is why people hate the Democrats. They’re squishy, without a backbone, so busy doing what’s expedient, triangulating, that you can’t believe in them so they lose.

It’s about passion more than dogma. One thing about Trump, you cross him and you’re toast. People are excited by Trump. Is anybody excited by Kamala Harris? If so, why did she have trouble raising money during her presidential run, why were her numbers so bad?…

…And Biden…Come on, he’s done nothing to counter the image of senility. Of course anybody who has followed his career knows he’s the king of misspeaking, which is why he’d better not debate Trump whatsoever, the Donald will kill him. Come on, he killed Hillary, and at least she had her wits about her…

….Yes, the Democrats are playing by the old rules. Afraid to move into the future they’ve literally jetted back to the past, with the aged Biden, and are crossing their fingers that people hate Trump just enough to push Joe over the top…

…And Trump knows you make news 24/7, you’re top of mind, whereas Biden is in a bunker hiding, trying to run out the clock…

…There is absolutely nothing exciting on the Democratic ticket, and no matter how many articles are written, no matter how many headlines appear about Harris, that’s not gonna change. It’s not like she’s a noted left-winger. She’s all about law and order in a country where Black Lives Matter pushed Biden to pick a black running mate. Yes, protests make a difference, without them would Harris be on the ticket? Doubtful. But the underlying problems in this country, starting with income inequality, where’s Harris on that? Opportunity? Bernie got all his campaign funds from the rank and file, he was beholden to nobody and what was Hillary’s complaint? No one likes him and he won’t play the game. Well, Trump won’t play the game and he WON! Hillary’s just pissed that she sold herself out and lost. And the DNC and the media couldn’t take the temperature of the country and realize that the Republicans had tarred Hillary’s reputation to the point where not only those on the right, but many on the left, despised her. If you actually spoke with Americans, you weren’t surprised when Trump won. But the DNC and the media are in a bubble. Give Trump credit, at least he spoke to the downtrodden, he even said he liked the uneducated. May have turned your stomach, but if you dropped out of high school and were working a minimum wage job, Hillary was not speaking directly to you! Oh, forget that Trump hasn’t delivered for these people. Once again, the DNC is playing defense, making it about the other candidate as opposed to their own. And you cannot win if you don’t score points. And remind me what points Biden has scored in these past five months…hell, he can’t even make any news!…

….If the DNC were smart, and it is not, it would unleash Kamala, have her make news every day. But they won’t, because they believe that’ll steal the thunder from Joe, who can’t even produce a drizzle. As for the Trumps’ previous donations to Harris…there are no more gotchas. Trump has won again and again and again.”

Minny City councillors spend $63k of taxpayer funds on private security

Minney

Who knew that the 3 biggest proponents of defunding the Minneapolis Police Department – councillors Andrea Jenkins, and Phillipe Cunningham, and Alondra Cano – would be spending $4,500 a day on private security? While we understand that no councillor deserves to receive personal threats to their safety, neither should residents.

Surely they should lead by example and be the first to live by the very system they expect the rest of the city to live by. How strange that these were some of the same people who endorsed an advisory telling residents to obey criminals and hand over their wallets, purses and smartphones while insisting their safety is still paramount.

What could possibly go wrong?

The profiles of the three councillors bear some attention.

Why do they insist on self-promoting their history of activism? Note the detailed descriptions of their identities contained in the personal summaries directly copy & pasted from the Minneapolis Council website. One council member is even proud to list that she has been arrested and handcuffed before. Was this advertised on her campaign posters, flyers and correx boards?

Andrea Jenkins

Andrea Jenkins is a writer, performance artist, poet, and transgender activist. She is the first African American openly trans woman to be elected to office in the United States. Jenkins has experience working in community development in North Minneapolis, and in delivering social services in South Minneapolis.

Jenkins moved to Minnesota to attend the University of Minnesota in 1979 and was hired by the Hennepin County government, where she worked for a decade. Jenkins worked as a staff member on the Minneapolis City Council for 12 years before beginning work as curator of the Transgender Oral History Project at the University of Minnesota’s Jean-Nickolaus Tretter Collection in Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Studies.

Andrea holds a Masters Degree in Community Development from Southern New Hampshire University, a MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University and a Bachelors Degrees in Human Services from Metropolitan State University. She is a nationally and internationally recognized writer and artist, a 2011 Bush Fellow to advance the work of transgender inclusion, and the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships.

Phillipe Cunningham

Phillipe M. Cunningham (pronounced fil-LEAP) is the Minneapolis City Council Member representing the 4th Ward in North Minneapolis. He is the first and currently only out trans man of color elected to office in the United States. Prior to being elected and unseating a 50-year family political dynasty in 2017, Council Member Cunningham served former Mayor Betsy Hodges as her Senior Policy Aide for education, racial equity, and LGBTQ+ rights. He also previously worked with youth as a special education teacher and youth worker for over 10 years.

As a policy wonk and fierce community advocate, Council Member Cunningham’s goals are to break intergenerational cycles of poverty and violence and build community wealth with Northsiders already living in the community. His writings have been published in ‘The Guide for White Women Who Teach Black Boys and Millennial Compact with America.’

Pronouns: he/him/his

Alondra Cano

Council Member Cano represents the Ninth Ward. The Ninth Ward is located in the heart of Minneapolis and is the most diverse in the city, encompassing the largest American Indian and Latino populations, a growing East African community, and an active LGBTQIA community.

When elected to her first term in 2013, Alondra said to Minnesota Public Radio: “My entire life I have worked on efforts to make sure the diverse communities of Minneapolis and Minnesota were engaged, empowered, and served by the various institutions that govern us. […] I’m humbled. I’m excited. I’m ready to serve.

Council Member Cano was elected to the 13-member Minneapolis City Council as the first Latino/a to serve in its history. 2013 also saw the first Hmong and Somali Council Members to be elected. Voters returned Alondra to her second term in 2017, also electing at this time the first transgender council members to serve in the council’s history. Undoubtedly, ours is one of the diverse city councils in the country, on which Council Member Cano is proud to be an active member.

Before serving as an elected official, Alondra was a policy aide to then Minneapolis City Council Vice President Robert Lilligren. She was also the manager of the Multilingual Communications Division at the Minneapolis Public Schools. Alondra is a longtime activist and community organizer. As Associate Director of the Minnesota Immigrant Freedom Network, she worked on a wide range of social and racial equity issues facing Latino immigrants and undocumented students. Alondra has long advocated for comprehensive immigration reform, and worked to help pass the Minnesota Dream Act at the Minnesota Legislature. The Minnesota Dream Act gives undocumented Latino students better access to higher education options in the state.

Alondra was born in Litchfield, Minnesota and spent her early years in Chihuahua, Mexico before returning to Minnesota at the age of 10. Alondra attended the University of Minnesota where she became active in student government and political activism. During a sit-in protest to keep the General College open Alondra was arrested and handcuffed along with fellow students.

While congratulations might seem to be in order for the three individuals achieving the status of “first” in history, one imagines that the community is fast waking up to the fact that identity can never compensate for a lack of ability. What irony that the very people who have been fighting for inclusion in all of its forms discriminate against the very people who backed their diversity and elected them to office.

Will these councillors openly take responsibility for instituting obviously disastrous policies when the city depopulates, taxes dry up as crime surges or hide their incompetence behind the necessary evil of progressivism?

380 million reasons to feel oppressed

Mookie Betts (middle) has just signed a $380 million 12 year contract with the LA Dodgers baseball team. We don’t doubt his abilities.

Betts has agreed to make a charitable contribution of $100,000 annually out of the $27m he makes per annum. The egregiously unfair part of the deal is that he will be forced to stay in 4/5-star hotel suites while on road trips.

Imagine what he might have received if America wasn’t so systemically racist?

Cynically, one wonders whether kneeling for the BLM movement, while Marxist in its roots, might end up helping the agents of minority players leverage woke teams to offer even bigger paydays to atone for decades of oppression? Good on them if they can exploit capitalism for their own benefit.

We just hope these teams factor in the possibility that turning sports into politics may end up eroding the fan base by such an extent that they may end up unable to honour the deals to maturity.

No Mayor Lightfoot, your incompetence is the problem, not identity

Despotic Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot let rip again at President Trump for his intent to send federal troops by claiming that he was just being mean to Democrat mayors who happened to be female. She cried that Trump “only wants to make us look bad.

No need for him to do that. You’ve done that on your own.

Lightfoot claimed she’s “getting it done” despite a huge spike in gun deaths and shootings. Her incompetence extends to the manner in which she filters out what she doesn’t want to hear as evidenced by her fracas with Alderman Raymond Lopez. She is also focusing on a census campaign during this time of crime.

She mentioned that Trump picked on Seattle Mayor Jenny “summer of love” Durkan who said that CHAZ was just a street fair. Despite the deaths and destruction to the block she only acted when her own $7m mansion was at stake. Could that be a reason Mayor Lightfoot?

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser was also mentioned by Lightfoot as being bullied by the president. Didn’t she see Bowser get her head handed to her on a platter by Black Lives Matter for writing Black Lives Matter on the road outside the White House for “appeasing white liberals“?

Or Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. Another target. She acknowledged that police morale is “down ten-fold” due to the limitations placed on them during the riots. Atlanta Police were calling in sick at record numbers. No surprise when the totally corrupt DA was essentially saying the cop who shot Rayshard Brooks should receive the death penalty.

What has gender got to do with it anyway?Portland’s mayor is male. He has federal officers in his city.

So Mayor Lightfoot, you may like to claim to be Chicago’s first black lesbian mayor but something tells us that if you focused on your ability rather than your identity your constituents might be happier. As it stands, identity seems to be all you have and we doubt any Chicagoans care about what goes on behind closed doors. They want an end to the violence.

Trump will make a fool of you. Make no mistake. But know it was a 100% set inflicted wound.
