Double Standards

Chicago & Portland Mayors finally agree Trump was right all along

Chicago’s Magnificent Mile was ransacked by looters. City officials ended up raising bridges across the river to prevent further rioters entering the CBD, albeit too late. Similar actions occurred during BLM protests several months ago.

Luxury goods stores were the main target. Chicago police exchanged gunfire with looters and arrested more than 100 people.

Most interesting were the comments made by Superintendent of Police David O’Neil Brown, who said that the CPD is being forced to release criminals who only become emboldened to double down and commit further crimes without consequence.

Brown said, “This was not an organized protest. Rather this was an incident of pure criminality…As of now, Chicago police have made more than 100 arrests for looting, disorderly conduct, battery against police, among other charges. A total of 13 officers have been injured throughout the night, including a sergeant who was struck with a bottle. Another officer had his nose broken as he fought with a group of looters…Criminals took to the streets with confidence that there’ll be no consequences for their actions. Let me say that again, criminals took to the street with the confidence that there would be no consequences for their actions and I, for one, refuse to allow these cowardly acts to hold our city hostage.”

Mayor Lori Lightfoot moved away from her traditional “everything is under control” narrative to confess, “These individuals engaged with it can only be described as brazen and extensive criminal looting and destruction. To be clear, this had nothing to do with legitimate protected first amendment expression.

What a surprise? When she gave carte blanche to criminals and rioters under the guise of peaceful protestors, what did she expect? Now she is seeking to do the exact thing Trump was demanding of her. Get tough.

How the tide is turning. Only days ago, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler (D) finally admonished the mob he had openly protested with by stating,  “When you commit arson with an accelerant in an attempt to burn down a building that is occupied by people who you have intentionally trapped inside, you are not demonstrating, you are attempting to commit murder.” He also added “Don’t think for a moment that you are, if you are participating in this activity, you are not being a prop for the reelection campaign of Donald Trump — because you absolutely are…You are creating the b-roll film that will be used in ads nationally to help Donald Trump during this campaign. If you don’t want to be part of that, then don’t show up.

Who knew that one way to get peace in a city is to tell rioters their actions are helping the very man they want to be removed from office?

Michelle Obama says she has a form of low grade depression

Pity poor former FLOTUS Michelle Obama. Apparently quarantine has left her with a form of “low-grade depression” because she has become dispirited by the coronavirus, racial strife and the hypocrisy of the Trump administration.

We feel for her having to suffer being holed-up in a $15m Martha’s Vineyard mansion.

We think she can solve for the racial strife anxiety by simply rolling over and speaking to her husband, perhaps one of, if not the most racially divisive president in US history.

Our favorite example was his speech to the Black Caucus ahead of the 2016 election which we wrote about in Sept 2016,

I will consider it a personal insult, an insult to my legacy, if this community lets down its guard and fails to activate itself in this election.

Is it any wonder Joe Biden came up with “You ain’t black” or that blacks aren’t as open minded as latinos so easily?

Or when Barack Obama encouraged in a speech to military personnel at MacDill Air Force Base to commit acts of mutiny if so required after Trump won the election by saying,

“each of us has…the universal right to speak your minds and to protest against authority; to live in a society that’s open and free; that can criticize our president without retribution.”

Or the many land mines he left for incoming President Trump before he sat in the Oval Office. Abstaining from a UN vote with respect to Israel, expelling Russian diplomats and even signing a refugee swap agreement with then Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull.

Perhaps Mrs Obama would feel less dispirited had her husband shown some class by not turning the eulogy of John Lewis into a campaign rally. MLK Jr’s niece could lend her some advice.

Or maybe she could smile a bit more were it not for the huge list of scandals under her husband’s own administration?

Black conservative Larry Elder put a wonderful montage as to the hypocrisy of Obama when it comes to race.

Well, well, well…

Largest Newspaper in Minnesota Endorses Ilhan Omar’s Primary Challenger

You have to hand it to the radical left of the Democrat Party. Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar said that America’s economic and political systems must be “dismantled.”

What a way to show Americans a sense of deep gratitude for not only rescuing the Somali born asylum seeker from a refugee camp in Kenya but having a system that allowed her to be elected to the highest level of government in that same country.

Not so fast. Even in the woke state of Minnesota, the Star-Tribune – the state’s largest paper – has endorsed Antone Melton-Meaux, a primary challenger to Omar. The paper’s editorial noted,

“Melton-Meaux brings a different sensibility to this race, one grounded in helping resolve disputes to move forward — a skill this country is much in need of. Whether it’s health care, criminal justice or affordable housing, Melton-Meaux appears progressive, but pragmatic. While Omar wants to lead a movement, Melton-Meaux seeks to serve the Fifth District…

…Omar’s 2018 victory launched her into the national spotlight as the first Muslim woman and first refugee elected to Congress. But her time has been marred by missteps, including remarks on Israel widely regarded as anti-Semitic, an outsized number of missed votes, and campaign-finance issues. Omar has sent more than $1.6 million to her husband’s D.C. political consulting firm, E Street Group, and is herself the target of a Federal Election Commission complaint regarding travel expenses.

It is worth pointing out that Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez didn’t make the cut of Obama’s NY house seat endorsements.

Cuomo to Rich New Yorkers – “Please come back”

The wealthiest 1% of NYS’ population contributes roughly 50% of the state’s coffers. Gov. Andrew Cuomo took to begging the rich to return to NYC from their second homes so they can pay taxes to fill the dwindling reserves. He said,

I literally talk to people all day long who are now in their Hamptons house who also lived here, or in their Hudson Valley house, or in their Connecticut weekend house, and I say, ‘You got to come back! We’ll go to dinner! I’ll buy you a drink! Come over, I’ll cook!’…They’re not coming back right now. And you know what else they’re thinking? ‘If I stay there, I’ll pay a lower income tax,’ because they don’t pay the New York City surcharge…

At the very least, Cuomo was smart enough to tell his largely Democrat-controlled legislature that raising taxes further on the rich probably wasn’t a wise idea.

If you pass a piece of legislation that requires New York to raise taxes, raise a millionaires’ tax in this environment in New York City, where we’re struggling … We used to be worried [with a] millionaires’ tax, people might leave…We’re going to make progress helping the homeless. We’re going to clean up the graffiti. We’re going to fix crime. On top of that, you’re going to say, ‘And by the way, when you come back, you get a big tax increase.’

Who knew? We are not sure of the culinary talent of the NY governor but if it is anything like his political acumen, it could well end up being a deterrent.

86% think mainstream media divisive

A Knight Foundation/Gallup poll released this week showed that 86% of Americans believe that there is a “great deal” or a “fair amount” of political bias in the mainstream media. This is 25% points higher than the same poll taken in 2007.

78% of Democrats and 94% of Republicans, believe that there is at least some bias in the media.

84% assign the media either a ‘great deal‘ (48%) or a ‘moderate amount‘ (36%) of blame for political division.

The poll noted when respondents were asked about their views of media outlets they distrust:

-79% of poll respondents said those outlets were “trying to persuade people to adopt a certain viewpoint.

-When news is inaccurate, 54% of Americans think it’s because reporters are “misrepresenting the facts,” while

-28% assume they’re “making them up entirely.

Does any of this surprise with the recent revelations outlined in the open letters from former MSNBC producer Ariana Pekary former NY Times op-ed contributor Bari Weiss. Or the recent parody from the Babylon Bee.

Minny City councillors spend $63k of taxpayer funds on private security

Minney

Who knew that the 3 biggest proponents of defunding the Minneapolis Police Department – councillors Andrea Jenkins, and Phillipe Cunningham, and Alondra Cano – would be spending $4,500 a day on private security? While we understand that no councillor deserves to receive personal threats to their safety, neither should residents.

Surely they should lead by example and be the first to live by the very system they expect the rest of the city to live by. How strange that these were some of the same people who endorsed an advisory telling residents to obey criminals and hand over their wallets, purses and smartphones while insisting their safety is still paramount.

What could possibly go wrong?

The profiles of the three councillors bear some attention.

Why do they insist on self-promoting their history of activism? Note the detailed descriptions of their identities contained in the personal summaries directly copy & pasted from the Minneapolis Council website. One council member is even proud to list that she has been arrested and handcuffed before. Was this advertised on her campaign posters, flyers and correx boards?

Andrea Jenkins

Andrea Jenkins is a writer, performance artist, poet, and transgender activist. She is the first African American openly trans woman to be elected to office in the United States. Jenkins has experience working in community development in North Minneapolis, and in delivering social services in South Minneapolis.

Jenkins moved to Minnesota to attend the University of Minnesota in 1979 and was hired by the Hennepin County government, where she worked for a decade. Jenkins worked as a staff member on the Minneapolis City Council for 12 years before beginning work as curator of the Transgender Oral History Project at the University of Minnesota’s Jean-Nickolaus Tretter Collection in Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Studies.

Andrea holds a Masters Degree in Community Development from Southern New Hampshire University, a MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University and a Bachelors Degrees in Human Services from Metropolitan State University. She is a nationally and internationally recognized writer and artist, a 2011 Bush Fellow to advance the work of transgender inclusion, and the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships.

Phillipe Cunningham

Phillipe M. Cunningham (pronounced fil-LEAP) is the Minneapolis City Council Member representing the 4th Ward in North Minneapolis. He is the first and currently only out trans man of color elected to office in the United States. Prior to being elected and unseating a 50-year family political dynasty in 2017, Council Member Cunningham served former Mayor Betsy Hodges as her Senior Policy Aide for education, racial equity, and LGBTQ+ rights. He also previously worked with youth as a special education teacher and youth worker for over 10 years.

As a policy wonk and fierce community advocate, Council Member Cunningham’s goals are to break intergenerational cycles of poverty and violence and build community wealth with Northsiders already living in the community. His writings have been published in ‘The Guide for White Women Who Teach Black Boys and Millennial Compact with America.’

Pronouns: he/him/his

Alondra Cano

Council Member Cano represents the Ninth Ward. The Ninth Ward is located in the heart of Minneapolis and is the most diverse in the city, encompassing the largest American Indian and Latino populations, a growing East African community, and an active LGBTQIA community.

When elected to her first term in 2013, Alondra said to Minnesota Public Radio: “My entire life I have worked on efforts to make sure the diverse communities of Minneapolis and Minnesota were engaged, empowered, and served by the various institutions that govern us. […] I’m humbled. I’m excited. I’m ready to serve.

Council Member Cano was elected to the 13-member Minneapolis City Council as the first Latino/a to serve in its history. 2013 also saw the first Hmong and Somali Council Members to be elected. Voters returned Alondra to her second term in 2017, also electing at this time the first transgender council members to serve in the council’s history. Undoubtedly, ours is one of the diverse city councils in the country, on which Council Member Cano is proud to be an active member.

Before serving as an elected official, Alondra was a policy aide to then Minneapolis City Council Vice President Robert Lilligren. She was also the manager of the Multilingual Communications Division at the Minneapolis Public Schools. Alondra is a longtime activist and community organizer. As Associate Director of the Minnesota Immigrant Freedom Network, she worked on a wide range of social and racial equity issues facing Latino immigrants and undocumented students. Alondra has long advocated for comprehensive immigration reform, and worked to help pass the Minnesota Dream Act at the Minnesota Legislature. The Minnesota Dream Act gives undocumented Latino students better access to higher education options in the state.

Alondra was born in Litchfield, Minnesota and spent her early years in Chihuahua, Mexico before returning to Minnesota at the age of 10. Alondra attended the University of Minnesota where she became active in student government and political activism. During a sit-in protest to keep the General College open Alondra was arrested and handcuffed along with fellow students.

While congratulations might seem to be in order for the three individuals achieving the status of “first” in history, one imagines that the community is fast waking up to the fact that identity can never compensate for a lack of ability. What irony that the very people who have been fighting for inclusion in all of its forms discriminate against the very people who backed their diversity and elected them to office.

Will these councillors openly take responsibility for instituting obviously disastrous policies when the city depopulates, taxes dry up as crime surges or hide their incompetence behind the necessary evil of progressivism?

George Floyd arrest body cam footage

Ben Shapiro breaks down the bodycam footage of George Floyd’s arrest which shows he was saying he couldn’t breathe from the beginning. Officers listened to his request to keep the windows down, to stay with him and showed no intent to murder him.

The end result is that Floyd still needlessly died while in the custody of Derek Chauvin who didn’t need to be on his neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. Suffice to say Floyd’s autopsy revealed that he did not die of asphyxiation as was commonly claimed by the media.

We can imagine how rioting will reignite if Chauvin is acquitted of murder and charged with a lesser crime of aggravated assault.

The mainstream media will be only to glad to whip up misinformation for ratings as evidenced by the recent open letters from former staff at the NYT and MSNBC.

We are not at the beginning of the end but the end of the beginning. It looks like another case of an overeager DA looking to prosecute charges before seeing all the evidence. That’s the problem. Going for maximum sentences without knowing all of the facts means that over-promising and under-delivering becomes toxically incendiary.

Mazie Hirono walks out when asked to denounce Antifa

Republican Senator Ted Cruz invited Democrat Senator Mazie Hirono to publicly denounce Antifa but she declined and walked out. #MarxistLivesMatter

While she had spoken before this clip to say she wanted to protect free speech and to denounce fringe groups, she couldn’t bring herself to mention the word, “Antifa” which has been responsible for the majority of 700 injured law enforcement officers, some permanently blinded by having lasers pointed at their eyes. She also made no effort to denounce her colleagues’ use of the words “stormtrooper” and “Gestapo” when referring to federal LEOs.

Knocking Knees

No sooner had Jonathan Isaac bravely stood while his teammates kneeled, he did his ACL and is now sidelined, potentially for good.

Such is the depth of the sympathetic left that ESPN’s “Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz” posted a Twitter poll asking fans whether they thought his potentially career ending injury was funny.

The plurality didn’t see the humour and surprise, surprise the post was deleted.

Bible burning in Portland

Yet more reason Trump should win by a landslide.

Portland BLM activists have resorted to burning bibles and the US flag. Will the Democrats condemn these spiteful acts or will Pelosi dismiss it as “they’ll do what they’ll do“?

Don’t these radicals understand how religious many minorities there are?

As we’ve said for months – keep up the good work. They’ll only polarize civilized Americans away from a party that doesn’t stand up to this behaviour. They might detest Trump but they’ll gladly withstand 4 more years of petulance for someone that stands up for their country rather than appease woke Marxist thugs.

We dare these dickheads to burn the Koran. As we all know they are cowards of the first order. It will never happen.
