Democrat-leaning pollsters, TargetSmart, note that there has been a shift in the trend of voters registering for the Democrats & Republicans.
In Maine, 59% of new voters registered as Democrats pre-coronavirus — but only 40% have done so in the months since.
Democratic Party declines were also seen in Colorado, Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania according to TargetSmart.
Politico reported that in the swing state of Iowa, new voters helped the GOP retake the statewide lead in all voter registrations last month.
We are not talking big numbers to be fair but is this shift indicative of the manner in which the Democrats have conducted their behaviour with respect to lock-downs and lack of proactivity surrounding the George Floyd protests (and riots)?
We will be interested to see how these trends change as we inch closer to the election.
